The Stitchwraith, a major character in the overarching story of Fazbear Frights and yet one frequently forgotten- save when they are used for theorizing. But the truth is that there's much more to this one... or these two, as luck would have it. Let's take a look at the Stitchwraith, Jake and Andrew, and the circumstances that built them into something fascinating... and then dropped half the plot.

I love being an outsider looking in on fnaf. I’m here like “Why are all the books overly complicated metaphors for things in the games that lead to small realizations?” “Why don’t they just use the books to clarify the parts of the story that the fans have gotten right so they don’t backtrack?” Why do they change almost all the characters names and change just enough so it’s confusing but keep everything else the same?” “Why is all the lore built on a foundation of child go bye bye but everything else is just thirty billion teeny tiny jenga blocks and if one of those tiny blocks gets removed the entire tower falls down no matter where the piece was?” and it’s hilarious everyone in the fandom is like, oh nah this is completely normal.

Oh don't worry, it sucks. The vast majority of people don't accept the lore as-is and believe their own headcanons to be true, either out of abject denial or just because they'd rather not keep track of a thousand puzzle pieces from half a dozen puzzles, none of which line up. I don't know more than perhaps a dozen people who have a decent grasp of the amount of retcons and so forth that have happened, amongst hundreds I've met in the community, and both the majority of fans and the official writers refuse to acknowledge it. Everyone's along for the ride, and no one _wants_ the mystery to be solved, because going along with it's part of the experience and the ending isn't nearly as exciting as the journey, even if not just because that particular journey has a particularly lackluster end.

Could easily be lack of storyboarding or straight up skill, and then trying to please rather than letting the creative output flow. The books seems to be more and more someone throwing in pieces of stories in a sag, mixing them and then they're thrown at the writers eyes closed.

Remember one of the FNAF rules. We don't do good endings. If there is a good ending in sight, retcon it immediatelly! There is no closure, no redemption, the best we can do is end in a perpetual memory limbo so that it resembles a good ending even though it's not. Oh and obligatory burning of course. Because if we gave characters a good ending, we would either have to end the franchise or come up with new stories. But we can't take risks. That would be scary!

As a writer I find the getting rid of Andrew part fascinating. On the Akira Toriyama part, I just wanna note that the Protagonist Shuffle™ between Goku and Gohan was caused by Toriyama realizing that Gohan would require a different mode of storytelling for, and thus intentionally ditching him when he could bring Goku back. It wasn't like he just forgot. Hell, that might even be what happened here--Andrew being an anti-hero with a dependent personality might have been deemed too difficult to continue writing for. So Jake, who was more of a traditional hero, was chosen to remain.

It says Jake’s Father died a soldier, which I’ve done some digging and apparently the Fazbear Frights books are speculated to take place around 1986, and the only American Military conflicts around that time were the 1983 invasion of Grenada, and the 1989 invasion of Panama, which happens after ‘86 so it’s an easy rule-out, meaning he likely died in the invasion of Grenada(in real life 19 Americans died in the conflict). Not that it’s that relevant to fnaf lore but just something I thought was interesting.

Neat, honestly I would have figured his military service wouldn't match any real-world conflicts, I hope that was intentional..... though considering the less than stellar-ness of these books, that was probably a coincidence, not to hate I love these stories despite their flaws, but I doubt the writers did any research for it, and that goes for the lore from the games, I doubt even further that whoever wrote these (who hopefully isn't Scott otherwise we're wasting time figuring out the lore, cuz if he wrote these books he's either lost track of the lore or started making up random crap a long long time ago...)

I think the man Andrew possessed was never alive in the first place. Or more accurately, it was merely a possessed corpse of an angry and corruptive soul of agony. Willam Afton is believed to be the evil kiddie killer, but this ironically makes it less likely for this soul to be him. It always pretends to be way scarier and acclaimed than who it actually is. Then, he’s easily put at ease by the Puppet, Charlie Emily and potentially parts of the real William Afton, with a song. Reviewing the entire character, he seems to an unloved/abused soul/child. One of the stories around the bunny ironically have a William Afton (a father of theee kids) stand-in fucking fight him. And, stories starring the bunny feature themes about the relationships between sons and fathers, whether they are abusive or positive. (Into the pit) (Fnaf 3 springtrap story) (Into the flesh)

I adore the sun/moon Jake/andrew connection, I now officially add that to my fan canon! Also, the ball pit connection made me audibly gasp, as I always found the very first story “Into the ball pit” confusing as hell, especially for a fnaf connection, but the idea of souls of killed children being stuck in the ball pit completely fits with the liminal space I felt when I was a kid at the very bottom of the ball pit. And sun/moon being the arbiters/protectors of the ball pit makes everything fit so well.

I've been revisiting DSAF recently, and it gave me a huge apreciation for that series, especially looking back at the original series. I bring this up because since you used to do content for that series (plus Dave's theme), and nowadays I follow your content for the analysis of the series it came from. I don't know if it's just me, but I somewhat feel like it does what FNAF itself failed to do. Dayshift brings up the impact on the kid's incidents on their families and shows how the kids themselves feel, writes actually compeling characters and their arcs, makes it's Afton an actually engaging, morally flawed character. It knows when and how to end. At some point, these somewhat aplied to Five Nights itself, I don't think they still do.

I 100% agree. I haven’t fully played the games yet, but what I’ve seen from them so far has been really good. I feel like it also does a better job at writing the a main character. Jack has history with Freddy’s, works at the restaurant, has ties to the main villain, has a sister who was murdered by said villain, and eventually takes over the business, then at the end burns the place down setting everyone free. (…While writing this I realized how Jack is basically a better written Micheal…huh…)

Yeah, this past summer I finally checked out FNAF and spiraled to obsession with the lore as we all did at first I'm sure. Then eventually in that month or two, I checked out DSAF, and DSAF pretty much hijacked that obsession almost completely because of how well it does its lore and story compared to FNAF. On top of DSAF having a genuinely great story on its own, it also gives you a nice meaty amount of clear dates, locations, incidents, characters who are fleshed out, subtle details and foreshadowing lines in dialogue... there are so many dots to connect from all this to make the lore and worldbuilding fun, but most importantly, *the questions get answered by the end*. It makes connecting the dots feel rewarding instead of like a teasingly BS'ed goose chase like FNAF. Plus, because the lore has a clear enough vision, you can usually tell what details were a retcon or just a joke, and what were cleverly planted details (like Dave foreshadowing himself not having a heart when dying, him foreshadowing the box in his diary, etc) It's just... SO much less frustrating and more satisfying than FNAF lol
@Bofrab
@Bofrab Жыл бұрын
@@ladymoragsbootlaces8059 I want to say that I feel like DSAF is better written because DSAF is actually a story driven game compared to FNAF, which is a horror game. However, I don’t feel like I can say that because A: a lot of horror stuff is incredibly well written, and B: FNAF isn’t really a horror franchise anymore. Meanwhile DSAF was basically a shitpost, but is somehow better written in just 3 games, compared to the 11-12 games in the main series.

@@sixfeetundertheradar6080 Dayshift at Freddy's! It's a fangame series that started as a parody of many things FNAF and in the latter games become its own story. The protagonist is an orange man (aka Jack Kennedy, although many people confuse him for Henry), and he can either help the phone guy Scott or assist Dave Miller (aka William Afton). The first game is completely comedy based, and it can be fairly hit or miss (many jokes did NOT age well), the second starts some lore and three is a surprisingly continuation and conclusion for the series.

I like the idea of the Stitchwraith. Maybe it WAS Ennard but with the souls gone so it's a different character with the same parts (especially the mask), two kids with alternates goals possessing the same animatronic body was always interesting and how they pulled that off was nice, but HOLY SHIT the declining writing quality got to it in the end. EDIT: The Stitchwraith (or, more specifically Jake and Andrew inside it) gave me the idea that when two kids possess the same animatronic body in the FNaF universe, there's a sort of "mind and body" dynamic going on. One doesn't have as much they can do physically but can tap into the other's memories (Jake), and the other controls the body for the most part (Andrew). It wasn't exactly how it goes in canon, but it makes sense to me.
@Bofrab

I think the Sun and Moon idea is a really interesting concept, especially considering sun is nice, and moon is aggressive, but I kinda like the idea of them just passing on after their story is complete. Mainly because it gives a group of kids in this franchise an actual happy ending for once. (Wait Happiest Day… is that even cannon anymore?) I also have an idea. What if instead when Jake gets absorbed, Willian stays the villain and does some crazy stuff simmilar to Elanore. Now the detective is like “oh crap we gotta stop that thing!” After hearing that Andrew realizes Jake saved his life, and decides to help the detective so that he can make it up to Jake. While they look for Afton (and maybe learn about each other’s lives/past lives), maybe we can get some epilogues that show that Afton took Jake so he could lead him to the lab where the doctor created The Stitchwraith, so he can get some “Agony Juice” so he can become ultra powerful. Jake sees while with Afton, and while this is going on we see Jake try to convince Afton to stop (with no success of course). During the final fight Andrew figures out how to harness a similar power Afton used to take Jake, and gets Jake back into the Stitchwraith, weakening Afton so the detective can defeat him. Afterwards simmilar stuff you said with the Ball pit would happen. This way William stays the main villain (for better or worse), Jake, Andrew, and the Detective stay important to the story, and a random scientist isn’t just introduced because they already killed off the important one.

The greatest irony being the fact that because they went back to take care of the children trapped in the pit is the reason why Sun and Moon's programming settled on daycare attendant. Maybe because creating the most convenient shell for their last residual emotions would result in the least amount of fatal errors when putting haunted material into a new robot. Maybe because without Jake, a reawakened Andrew in Moon as the first to return proved too wild to control, even in security focused protocols that allowed it to be violent.

I feel like the Sun and Moon rewrite would be so tragic but so hilarious as well. Tragic since 1. Andrew's killer would once again have influence over Andrew except now he is forcing Andrew to sorta become the very person that killed him, a murderer. 2. That means that Jake, based on Sun's behavior, might have partially went insane since he has to watch in horror as the person he thought he could trust is killing the very people they are trying to protect. He might not even know it's Afton's fault. 3. This would probably destroy or damage the built friendship between these two characters. 4: They are pretty much powerless and alone. Andrew is probably trapped by William. Jake lost his friend and probably the trust of Moon/Williams victims. Funny: 1: Andrew probably saw that Moon was originally programmed to be evil and went with it, scaring Karen's and staff members. 2. Jake probably just scolded Andrew. Jake: ANDREW STOP YOUR SCARING THE CHILDREN!!!!!!!!!

@@reven8683 Yeah, I'm a bit of an AU writer. Even my main timeline is an AU at this point because the stuff canon gives us is kinda starting to shred itself to ribbons. While we can guess about parts of Security Breach, we know what mostly happens because it's a mainline game. But Fazbear Frights is confusing because we know some is canon and some isn't, but we don't know WHAT. It's a small thing, but even if FNaF lore is meant to be confusing, don't completely divide the fanbase.

@@reven8683 Can they keep FNaF going right if they change some things, like a retcon? Yes! But I do feel like the thing I mentioned about letting people know it happened like that would be important in that case, considering how much the community was divided about various retcons in the past.

Andrew is supposed to be the parallel to Cassidy and it does make me wonder what happened to cc ( crying child ) and Cassidy before security breach? Since cc gets shoved aside or details obscurley hidden it's hard to tell. Both Cassidy and Andrew stayed behind to to torture Afton however Andrew got an..."ending" and Cassidy MIGHT have been in Security breach since the princess quest girl was name Cassidy at some point. Though they are parallels and not one for one. That moment where you said that Jake has some obligation to stay behind makes me wonder if that is the reason Crying Child's presence in Gregory ( wether it's just nothing but purely metaphorical or literal robot ) is the reason why the presence of Cassidy might also linger. The books and Games have now gone out of their way to make the kids more individual and distinct in personality. There is so much potentional to be explored and since agony can appreantly also makes things come back to life it could have made way for new and interesting antgonists. The agony would have been created by William in the sense he caused most of the agony and it's still causing others to sufffer but.... he doesn't have to LITERALLY BE THERE. They tried to this Elanor but it's written so badly and comes out of nowhere and really undermines Andrew's pain/agony into a "Aha it was her all along! Evil big bad baddie over here!"

Well… at least they tried… and as wasteful as it was, we finally got some- albeit poor- insight into how it is to inhabit an animatronic. Although not having more stories do this is a major missed opportunity. Why must Scott focus on the humans instead of the furry characters that got people into this franchise in the first place? Btw, did I smell some Home Andrew and Jake origin there? Nice. Really hyped for the next vid! Great work!

Tbh, I wouldn’t be surprised and would be pretty happy to see the Stitchwraith itself get introduced in Ruin since I quite like it and would love to see it in action during gameplay. Besides, if the theory I’ve seen going about that Ruin will end with the Trash-Afton fight like the end of the Stitch Wraith story, then having the Stitch Wraith appear to help fight it off like in the story would make sense and be pretty cool. If you ask me, the Stitch Wraith is the coolest new animatronic we’ve gotten in this “modern FNaF era” (I’m calling its story modern since it seems to have a lot of SB similarities with the gator mask matching Monty to an extent and the seeming trash/amalga-Afton we’re gonna be fighting in the dlc) with Glitchtrap and Vanessa having been right above it until SB kinda ruined the fun with them.

Honestly as much as I love the story and lore of FNAF I’m getting so exhausted with the “animatronics and dolls are possessed by dead kids” bit. Vanny was a refreshing change of pace as a human being controlled, and I like her tampering with Chica, Monty, and Roxy, possibly also Moon. For me I wish it had just been the OG 4 and Baby being possessed while the others were built to be bad or were heavily tampered with by William or Baby or Vanessa. Don’t get me wrong like I said this is all so fascinating to me. But I just personally wish for Sun and Moon to just be a simple animatronic, no child souls involved. Even though they probably aren’t because this series’s track record points to possession.

Oh damn, that was a really great video! First of all, ye, as the pinned comment says, 5:13 genuinely made me laugh a bit, it has no right to be this funny. Great vid as always, loved the editing and the rewrite, even that Sun & Moon part that would actually kinda work! And ngl the BatIM music at 21:05 was a nice, fitting touch. Quick sidenote, I've prolly stated it in some of your previous videos, but the use of background music is really a nice touch, love the improvement you've made on your vids over time, both with the writing, the editing, and using your real voice. Can't wait to see where it'll go! Also ngl I felt kinda bad for voting for the 'extra salt' option on the poll for this vid, but I'd be lying if I said the added salt isn't entertaining. So yeah, amazing work! 17:45 Welcome to Fazbear Entertainment. That thing is probably haunted, it will probably cause the death of several people, and we know that, but it's absolutely hilarious so we'll keep doing it.

Tbh, I don't like how they decided that every weird event that happened in Fazbear Frights was because of Andrew's agony or William Afton. It takes away the mystery of why these animatronics are moving or are even alive at all, not to mention if Andrew is supposed to represent Cassidy, then having William's hell reduced to a nightmare is pretty lame and makes Old man consequences even more confusing. It's no surprise to anyone that Fazbear Frights went on for way too long and Scott or the writers didn't know what to do with the plot anymore but I think it was doomed to happen, especially with how they try to make one off scary stories about fnaf mix into an overarching plot that has characters that needs focusing on. Not to mention the amount of kids that dies in these stories but we don't see or hear their spirits at all??? Like I could I be wrong since I don't catch up on Frights anymore, but it seems like the only ghost kids that we see are the original missing kids, Andrew and Jake, or an entirely new character made up for plot convince. Like it was such a wasted opportunity to have Andrew's agony be reason why the fazbear frights are happening and not have one of the other kids in the Stitchwraith be one of those kids who ended up in a bad fate. Then we've could've had an interesting arc with Andrew where he is force to realize that his angry isn't just affecting Afton but innocent kids who were angry because of the circumstances in their lives, like Millie.

Cassidy/Andrew is heavily unlikely to be “the one you shouldn’t have killed”. However, I have a rather ironic message to bring forth that will change your perspective. The soul who proclaims to be “William Afton” is “the one you shouldn’t have killed”. Specifically, the abused son from Pizza Simulator that William lured with his Bunny Costume.

It’s like Scott Cawthon tried to do what Stine did with the Goosebumps HorrorLand series but failed miserably. Actually Goosebumps HorrorLand is a GREAT example of transitioning villains. Originally there was only supposed to be 12 books, all 12 books had their own story but if you kept reading would have a continual narrative building up to the mysterious villain called the Menace. The Menace and that entire story arc was completed after book 12. R.L. Stine ended up having another 7 books ordered. So, instead of coming up with a ridiculous way to continue the arc that was in books 1-12, he comes up with an entirely new arc with a new villain, that I would argue was WAY more interesting and unique than the previous, the villain not the plot. Obviously, I wouldn’t have expected exactly that for the Fazbear Fright books, but something similar. Seriously, even if you haven’t read Goosebumps, I’d recommend the Goosebumps HorrorLand series.

What really gets me in the last epilogue as fan of Eleanor is that Jake finds the Ball pit only because Eleanor’s remains guide him there and mind you it’s after she got locked in the memory, how does her remains do that? no idea, but we know that she’s doing that because that’s what Jake literally says “ “In a way, she was leading him here, he knew. But not really. She had no will left. He was in control. But he’d learned enough about her as he’d overcome her to know that this was where she had to be laid to rest.” And the worst part is that it’s only like that because the Writer’s needed that Jake would found ball pit somehow and would enter it, and that’s it. As Eleanor fan, who analyzed every bit of her, It literally said in the book that Eleanor is bad to the core which probably mean that even her remains ARE evil, so with simple logic we would figure that she leads Jake to the ball pit just so that she could harvest remnant to heal herself and later rebuild and escape, BUT NO, when Jake finds the ball pit we don’t get any other mentions of Eleanor’s remains, if she was put to rest or is she collecting remnant, we don’t know and since it’s the last epilogue and the end of all, the writers just put her to rest with all the other souls in the ball pit in the end, which is a huge disappointment for me, I hoped for come back, and this time that Eleanor ACTUALLY had a plan like taking over Fazber entertainment cause they cause a lot of accidents which would allow her to collect remnant efficiently, but I guess not.
