Will you do a regret questionnaire on insta etc.. get the ball rolling. The dad one got me. My mum died in her sleep. So many regrets not telling her i loved her enough amongst so many others. But... it taught me to say it now to those i care about and make time. Ring your dad!

If people had the character to do this, they wouldn't need to be told. What people really need help with is cultivating the ability to act. Success is a habit, not an act.

Consider that perhaps your hesitation is a good response. Hear me out. When you act, you get consequences, which could be potentially detrimental to your well-being. That's a risk, that you need to at least consider. Acting without thinking is the #1 reason most people suffer at their own hands. I suggest that once you make a decision--and decide it is a good decision--act. Do think first, but don't allow it to become an excuse for not acting, especially because often there is a time limit on successful action.

Dan Pink is one of my favourite authors...love his books and he speaks good sense. So happy that you've had him on your podcast. I love "manifestation without work is delusion", "Successful businesses go with the grain of human nature" and "sales has changed more in the last 10 years than it has in the previous 1000". Thanks Dan and Steven for a great episode!

SUCH a valuable conversation!!! Fellow Owl here 🙌🏻 I always say that I love (well, used to, before I had a child) to stay in the office late, not because I had sooo much to do, but because 6-7pm have always been my most productive hours, by far! I am brain dead in early morning until 10am at least, in terms of creativity and focus.

Hi Steve I’ve been on a journey of self discovery now for about 3 years, ever since my split from my daughters father. I’ve been delving into meditation, gratitude, mindfulness and listening to podcast after podcast. I knew of you but it’s only recently I started listening to The Diary of a CEO. I love your work. You are a fantastic interviewer, you put all your guests at ease, you have a lovely way about you and your empathy and understanding towards others is amazing for a young man. I had never heard of Daniel Pink. His books are now a necessity for me to purchase . Continue being you, I hope your phone call with your dad bridges that gap. Take care. Lots of respect. Bree

Just wanted to write a comment which I don’t usually do hahaha, but I will say that true manifestation isn’t just dreaming big and thinking you’re good enough for those things to just appear to you in your life. True Manifestation is about showing up, doing the work, knowing that you have whatever you want for your future, because ultimately doing the work will get you there. There obviously may be people in the world who think manifestation is like you were saying, just dreaming and it coming to fruition (if that helps people then show me the flip in way because I want that too hahahahaha) but True Solid Manifestation is not just that. It’s turning up, showing up for yourself, doing the dam WORK, and know that your dreams are yours because you work dam hard and you’ll get there. Hope that makes sense but just wanted to clarify haha! I know it may be confusing but Roxie Nafousi is amazing at this and has written a book, and you need to get her on here :)

As a guy who has lost his goal/way. This is possibly one of the most "real" motivational, self searching videos out there. I find that this/these videos are so important for people like myself. I'm not a business owner or a CEO, just an employee who has lost his way. But seeing your videos I've finally found a drive to move forward and stop being hesitant. Thank you so much for your time, energy and informative response, you put into these videos. Although I am listening, I will keep this to myself.

Concerning the different sleep/wake times, I would like to mention this: My children have the privilege of going to school in the afternoon every other month. So my teenager loves the sleeping in. But, the month when they go to school in the morning, she enjoys as well because it allows her to be disciplined which she loves every now and then. I see how they are profiting from this way of schooling not only sleep wise but also psychologically and especially the fact that they are learning to stay flexible and how to break habits (stay detached from some material things). 😊

Book time out in your calendar for family time the same way you do with your work. Get your PA to do it and hold you to account the same way they would a meeting. I’ve got into the habit of doing this and it’s helped so much with switching off and appreciating the time. It’s soon goes and you’re too good a guy for that regret so get it done 👊🏻 possibly my favourite podcast this one. I’ve taken so many little nuggets of wisdom away 👏 thank so you both.

Purpose is a sense that is beyond explanation, but all I can say is that it will never be found in self gain. People can agree or disagree, but I'm yet to find a person that can say that living selfishly for themselves brought them some form of purpose.

Interesting point-- realizing you aren't close to your family and regreting that fact, yet finding yourself unwilling to make a change to improve the situation...ask yourself why? Why aren't you looking for a stronger, more fullfilling relationship with your family? Why aren't you making it a priority? And wait for the answer. It is absolutely necessary to dig and wait for the answer. You will tell yourself the EXACT reason why.

So I would challenge the ‘regrets’ idea. I have experienced many ‘business owners’ almost having a race to the bottom, because of this messaging. People are almost spending too much time telling their ‘story’ and trying to outdo each other as to how inspiring, motivational and upsetting it can be. Way too many people telling each other they are inspirational because they burned their tongue on a Costa Coffee as opposed to going up a mountain with no arms and no legs…that’s inspirational. The premis is correct, but too many people pushing the dial to far past and therefore losing its impact. IMHO
