Johnny Craig looks rejuvenated. You can tell by his hygiene, the way he speaks, and his clean room that he is on the right path. I am rooting for him and bam margera to stay on the straight and narrow. Finns, questions weren’t easy and props to johnny for addressing them. I feel like it could have been really easy for Finn to just have johnny on and talk about all the drama but Finn turned it into a learning lesson where kids can watch this and see how drugs can cause someone to create so much damage to the people around them. Great interview Finn! Johnny, everyone wants to see you sober, be a great father, and create beautiful music so keep up the good work!

What a load of shit. Goes to show people buy anything you tell them. There is footage of him off him circulating out of his fucking tree. When people start discussing the truth. And the fact he smoked fentanyl around his child who was admitted to hospital from overdosing from second hand smoke then that will be the truth.

I appreciate you putting the questions on his side. "Is there anything you want to address." Giving him a chance to talk instead of attacking. I also appreciate you giving him a heads up to really get his head on straight about it all beforehand. This really gave him a chance to be honest and genuine and communicate. Not just wait for his chance to talk but it seemed you both were here for an honest discussion. I appreciate it sir.

Watching The Cozy Representatives "The Rise And Fall Of Jonny Craig." (Which everyone should watch If you're a fan of his I think, he breaks down Jonnys life and struggles very well from an outside perspective." Then watching this is very refreshing. I want Jonny to succeed and stay clean. We've all done awful things, but I'm a big believer in the underdog, and I hope he can make the most out of his life from this point forward. [UPDATE: 2 years! Thanks to those of you that have continued to check in all this time.] This really couldn’t have come out at a better time. I’m 96 hours into sickness after using opiates for 9 years. I can relate so hard to “I don’t have any relapses in me. Growing up in Sacramento, I’ve heard all kinds about jonny since i first listened to Dance Gavin Dance in 2006. And to be honest, I haven’t maintained a great opinion about him, which is kind of ironic because I’m a recovering opiate/heroin addict as well and I understand that struggle. But this interview really succeeded at humanizing him and it sounds like he not only wants to stay clean and turn his life around, but that he’s also actually making the effort to find out why this is a cycle for him and what he can do to prevent future relapse. I genuinely hope he sticks with it this time around.

Finn, I'm currently entering my 2nd year of doctoral school for clinical psychology and have worked with serious addicts in the past, in addition to having had significant substance abuse problems of my own in the past. Even after getting clean and beginning to achieve major success in life such as getting my masters and entering a doctoral program, addiction still feels like a specter that hangs over you. As someone who has been on both sides of it, the addict and the clinician, I just want to say that I think you handled this interview with immense grace, patience, and question choice/tone/angles. This was a tough interview for you both and Jonny especially as a man who also has a flawed past and hopefully is attempting to improve upon that. It's difficult but it's never too late. Addiction is tricky because even if it is a disease, it is a disease that the victim must take accountability and responsibility for themselves. You asked direct tough questions but did so in a non threatening warm manner. It has nothing to do with exonerating Craig, but a willingness to simply discuss and let people come to conclusions on their own as they would anyway. More than anything these open discussions can help people in deep dark places. Well done man. I appreciate how you handled this irrespective of what Jonny is innocent or guilty of. The benefit of these types of talks is way beyond that, especially in this type of world that desires social rehabilitation but is simultaneously driven by a hunger for punishment.

I remember 10 years ago when I was stuck on opioids, I drove for 30 minutes to a dealers house, vomiting in and outside the car the entire time, as sick as you can possibly imagine, opioid withdrawal is traumatic. Time slows down to a crawl, every second is a month, you have insects under your skin, you’re throwing up violently, your butt runs like a faucet, you have absolutely no energy so you can barely move, yet at the same time your legs are violently kicking because your brain is literally in starvation mode. You’re depressed, worst anxiety ever, you can’t do anything except lie down and hope you drown in your fluids and kick and stretch and masturbate over and and over again, and it just goes on for days and days. And once you DO start to feel better, you have on and off waves of feeling super depressed and much better. So many people relapse after a couple months because they assume they’ll always be depressed until they use again. But it’s not true, it’s not real. It’s the brain still rebalancing after months or years of relying on a substance. So if you’ve gotten clean recently, and you’re feeling bad, don’t give up, you’re almost there, you just have a little time left.

9:48 "the chances of the same story for all 3 women, I think that's a little farfetched" I'm not sure I understand Jonny's logic here, wouldn't 3 women giving the same story of abuse make it more farfetched that they are all coming up with the same lie, since he is the common denominator in the situation? But he's trying to make it sound like that somehow means it's farfetched that they're all telling the truth. I honestly think this dude isn't very bright and doesn't realize that most people are able to see through his false arguments. I'm not trying to be a hater, just my 2 cents...

I used to know Jonny. Played a few shows together, even worked with him for a bit. Saw him high as fuck, saw him when he was erratic and probably "sick", saw him completely disconnected. I grew up with drug addicts so I knew what was going on, most of the scene did, but I never hated Jonny or ran my mouth. Plenty of people talked shit but I just felt bad for the dude most of the time. Jonny was always nice and polite to me and I appreciated that. There was one time when I was truly angry with Jonny due to the situation he created at a show. I was ready to fight but the situation ultimately got handled. I think about that now and I'm glad nothing happened, it wouldn't have helped me, him, or anyone else involved. What does help is seeing him sober and being able to be proud of a guy I once knew again. Hope you see this and I'm glad to see you're doing better. Much love from Lexington.

First off, amazing interview. No smoke show - just honest questions and to be fair to Jonny, honest answers. I’m a huge Jonny fan. Relativity by Emarosa probably saved my life. I’m so glad you asked about if he thought his music would suffer if he got better. I’m also a huge SRV fan - another amazing musician who struggled with heroin. He was petrified of losing his “feeling” if he got clean. He got clean and talked about this very thing and what he said when he got clean made a lot of sense. In a nut shell he said that when you’re using, you’re numb to your pain. You’re using to cope with your pain. When you get clean and tackle your pain head on, you’re able to channel it with more clarity. When he got clean he compared playing the guitar high was like playing with boxing gloves on and getting clean and playing was like taking them off. He felt the notes 10x more sensitive. I’m saying this because I hope singing sober will have the same effect on Jonny. I wish more musicians realized this. I’ve been there before. It’s a lot easier said then done though. ✌️

This was an incredible interview. As a fan of Johnny, it was nice to see him address so much of the stuff that surrounds his career. I have hope that this time really will be the one that sticks and that this shot that he mentioned is the one that really helps him. Also, since Finn isn’t afraid to have controversial figures on here, I’d like to see one of these with some of the other problematic people in the scene. I always believe in getting both sides of the story, or at least hearing someone out, and these interviews with tough questions are the best ways to do that.

I came here from that video and I didn’t want to click this for that reason but wanted to read the comments. Jonny doesn’t deserve a platform and idk why this guy is giving him one. I don’t think it’s about his addiction why he’s not a good person. He’s a predator, sexual assaulter, and abuser. Those offenses are separate from his drug use. Why is he interviewing him after everything that’s happened. AND HAPPENED RECENTLY. These comments are wild. But if folks wanna keep holding onto him and supporting him I guess that’s their business. But i don’t think he should be given a platform, especially not on a huge KZbin channel.

@@ChristalJ fully agree. I get that addiction is a terrible thing, and people can do some messed up stuff under the influence or when they’re needing to feed the addiction, but you’re still responsible for your own actions, and this is a pattern of being a shitty person to everyone around you, not a one off incident or two.

This interview pleasantly surprised me. I've been a fan of Jonny's and always held out hope for him. I've struggled with addiction and can sympathize with much of what was discussed. In past interviews, Jonny seemed very unaware of his mistakes and very cocky in this sort of aloof way. In this interview, he was very candid (also something he lacked in past interviews), humble, and actually took accountability for his past actions. He seems to have gained an enormous amount of self-reflection that I think will serve him well. For Finn's part, it was really nice to see an interviewer who allowed him to speak without accusing him and attacking. I think his experience with drugs himself gives him a better understanding of Jonny and his struggles. It's really an impossible feat to try to explain to someone what addiction is like if they've never experienced it themselves. You really don't care about anything other than feeding it. It's not an excuse for your behavior, but an explanation.
@lesliemartin3

The worst thing about addiction is the clearly evident progress that an addict can exhibit to family and friends and not really knowing if it's genuine or not. Most people who are not addicts and do not surround themselves with the type of personality traits an addict usually encompasses will never be able to see the distinction between real sobriety and someone who has been able to function and hide their addiction successfully. I have been in recovery for over 15 years and was sober off and on through that entire time. Each time I relapsed it took my family a long time to catch on. At one point I was still using everyday and my sister's were telling me that they were proud of me bc my drive to make sure I could afford my habit was completely disguised as being an upstanding citizen who has finally grasped how important it is to maintain job stability. It just blurs the lines so much. My heart has sort of been absent from most activities for several years and I just now started being happy just exercising and eating right. That alone was worth all the time I spent going through withdrawal. I sincerely hope Jonny is doing better. So much of what he said is so reminiscent of my exact struggle. Especially the part when he told Finn about his intimacy issues. I used to be so bored by the act of intimacy (sex) because I didn't have a bodily response to the act itself bc opiates completely numb you especially from the waist down. I really didn't care about changing that. It made me feel empowered knowing I wasn't chasing intimacy the way other people do. I could go on and on but basically when someone is in active addiction there are so many components of their day to day that will make it appear that they're doing well. It's really just a very few dead giveaways that can take that appearance of success away immediately. One of course is constantly needing money. The other is being absent and disconnected from things that would otherwise be enjoyable for anyone whether drugs are present or not. Like I said it's just a huge amount of blurred lines that will only be decipherable to someone going through the same thing.
