Hey there, welcome to my channel. I'm ‪@ToriTrades‬ & I've been trading for 8 years!
Today in my livestream I want to talk about: The Realistic Life of a Day Trader. It doesn't have to be flashy, it doesn't have to be Lambo and Rolex's, it can be a normal, comfortable lifestyle.
Sure, some people might think that day trading is all about making quick, risky moves and cashing in on big wins. But the truth is, most successful day traders are actually quite conservative.
They have a strict set of rules that they follow, and they stick to them no matter what. This discipline is what allows them to consistently make profitable trades.
So if you're thinking about becoming a day trader, don't let the glamorous lifestyle of some traders intimidate you. It's not all about THE big win. It's about being disciplined, sticking to your rules, and making consistent, profitable trades.

I’m a full time day trader. Only trading 3.5 years. 40K the first 4 months of the first year. 110K the next, 700K last year. Nearly a million this year. Only trading SPY the first hour off the open. Typically the first 30 min and I’m done. It’s isn’t that hard ppl. I put 8 months of intense studying in prior to making my first trade. Now it’s all reflexes. Pick ONE strategy and master it. Period .

Hardest thing I found was to overcome the greed, round tripping the profits or thinking every trade should be the home run. Trading is a marathon not a sprint. Less greed more profits. Small wins add up quickly.

I feel you. I've been studying chart analysis and specific strategies for four years now. One thing I've learned is not one specific strategy will work for every security. you have to know multiple strategies and which one's work for certain situations. I'm so happy I worked so hard on it. In the end, it's really worth it knowing we can have another source of income in our back pockets.

That’s interesting. I’ve learned that pretty much any strategy will work in any market as long as I’ve got the direction right. That’s why I do fundamental-, sentiment-, intermarket analysis first and only then I open my chart. Works for me, but I’m Swing trading and don’t know how to reach the 10% I’m just 35 days without risking like 2%.

This video was super helpful and important to me! Been trying to absorb everything I can on this topic, as I’m trying to start taking it seriously, and look at it from every angle. This was the perfect video for that. Been looking for “realistic” type feedback. Because like you mentioned in a couple of ways, a lot of people live an outrageous lifestyle and don’t have anything useful to say / a lot of people are scammers and will do anything they can to get money. Super beneficial to see more honest and upfront people like you seem to be!

I am from Alabama, started with nothing, 33 yrs old and have been trading right at 10 years. FULL TIME for around 8 years. Just randomly ran across this….YOU WILL have the Lambos and luxury and anything you ever desire. I purchased a dream car paid in full cash trading and I’m here to tell you …it was DUMB..not an “investment” lol. I noticed it even gave some people I brought into trading unrealistic expectations which then led to their disappointment. I actually ended up selling the cars and re-investing into trading. Homeschooled my Daughter. We Travel. Trade. We see the world. Happier than I’ve ever been. I even taught my 9 yr old Daughter how to trade and what to look for. Risk etc. Much better things out here than the social media facade. You’re doing great. Keep being awesome and keep going. ❤

I agree setting daily goal could be double-edged sword. From one hand it reminds you to do not be greedy, take your profit and enjoy the rest of the day. From the other hand you should be trading the charts not your PnL and maximize your profits so that potential loss in future trades does not impact you that much. I personally start every week with the same amount to trade and withdraw all profits by the end of the week leaving the original amount. If the amount is less than when I started with, I top it up.
@lightworktrading

Just stumbled upon this video in my recommendations! Totally I agree with this. Been trading since 2014 (gonna ding 8 full years on 15th of December). All points you mentioned hit home. Especially the part with lifestyle, freedom, and getting 10K one month, and then giving away some of it the next month. In my career I once made 10K on 1 trade, and then next week gave away 7K of it due to euphoric trading. But that's all part of experience that every trader must go through. Cheers!

What is the most difficult part of being a profitable trader long term? 8 years is a long time bro. I feel like someone can be profitable in like 2-3 years if they have good risk managment and stick to a strict set of rules. Im curious what u think tho?
@lightworktrading
@lightworktrading Жыл бұрын
@@Deano88848 Someone can be profitable in 3 months if they stumble across the right strategy/teachings that fit their character. For others it might take 10 years. Following strict set of rules is much easier said than done as well. A lot of inner transformations are required to adapt to what makes up for profitable behavior in trading. In my case it is stubbornness that I am conquering every day to this day lol. Perhaps one day the beast will be defeated, but from what many others told me - that's a never-ending battle.

You're not a real trader until you've successfully traded during a bear market. Some people can make money in a bull market, but it's the bear markets that weed out the amateurs from the real professionals. Also over 98% of people who try to trade full time for a living end up failing and quitting.

Nice video, Tori, and hello from Texas. Refreshing to hear honest down-to-earth conversation about earning a realistic income from trading in the markets, and no bragging about fancy sports cars and yachts. I have wanted to trade for many years, started in the stock market long ago with some success but not enough to earn a living. Then forex, still did not get rich. I have been fascinated by the futures contracts and studying a long time. Have made only 23 live trades so far in 5-year treasury note. Was doing OK but then went on tilt. Next week will be trading micro futures. Am determined to succeed and trying to avoid returning to long-haul trucking. I do like trucking, but the last 4 and 1/2 years of it really burned me out. Best wishes to you, Tori.

@@ToriTrades I just thought of a followup comment; I think you mentioned in this video that trading is hard. I agree, it is; and yet I was thinking that all of this life is difficult because of sin, the garden of Eden. Working is hard, so is life. The trucking that I have done is very difficult and dangerous. Being an employee is difficult, especially for those who aspire to being an entrepreneur business owner. Military service is hard, etc. The economies of the world are built on hard work by the masses, over many decades and centuries. All the man-made things that exist involved hard work and taking risks, trying to find a market and sales for a product or service without any guaranteed profit. I watched videos about the Cutty Sark sailing ship involved in the tea trade, hauling tea from China to the UK. It helped me understand trading. I never drilled oil out of the ground, but it seems to involve lots of hard work and risk to get oil from the earth and refined into products like diesel and gasoline. Trading in the financial markets has a lot in common with everything else; difficult, requires hard work for a very long time. Transparency and sincerity are good qualities, and I think your youtube channel will continue rising in popularity.

THINK INVESTING AND TRADING IN BEAR MARKET WITHOUT HAVING ANY EXPERIANCE OF INVESTING AND TRADING. IT HURTS A LOT. I DON'T GIVE UP. At the end i am your follower. THANK YOU.

🎉Great live, and doing it on the fly with no notes to follow two thumbs up 👍🏼 👍🏼. We all have to be grateful for the money we can receive from the markets but I like to break down the numbers, with 252 trading days a year $25 a day 6,300 a year , $50 a day $12,600 year.. $100 a day $25,200 a year. Thank you for the points that you made on how important it is to have more then one source of income, having money for living expenses that are separate from your trading account. The psychology of Trading is hard enough without worrying about your monthly bills being paid. I have found that if I start to pull away from trading all I have to do is watch your Uncles last 10-20 KZbin videos. You may not be on your Uncles level of Trading yet (who is 😂)but the fact that you can say you’ve made it to a comfortable place/trading life style is a big Milestone, you have done a lot in the last couple months, editing and making shorts, keep the 🎥clips coming.

@@ToriTrades couple things you mentioned in the video made me think of a couple things to share. It’s not about trading because you have your uncle for that but if your looking for a good video on using Trading View, “The Trading channel “ on KZbin has a few good ones. The other thought was “WarriorTrading” has an inexpensive way to make a mobile trading setup, that’s if you wanted to stay mobile as your subscribers increase a couple scenes that attach to the sides of your laptop. If you end up looking at desktop setups “ClayTrader” has a good one. I figure there’s no need to reinvent the wheel if you can learn from those that are successful in the same field. Realistic expectations. I wish I could interest my daughter in trading the markets but unfortunately am not there, myself. You should be very proud of your efforts to have made it this far. I'm also very curious to see how you played the pennant you are in. All great stuff. Thank you.

I trade too, just wanted to say something. @ 19:27 that's the time of your video... you took a sell because it broke trendline. Don't you also see that the bearish candle that formed first at the resistance was engulfing the previous bull candle? just thought id give you an extra confirmation. Engulfing candles are important to my trading system, but usually around certain key levels. I hope I helped

Why don't you buy 1 big contract instead of 10 micros to save on commissions?

There’s a reason for everything, about 10 months ago i’ve been trying to dollar cost average weekly and wanting to become a day trader in the future, I’ve been investing more time into consuming more knowledge towards it and it feels like I’m stuck. What kind of advice would you give? Just asking for some separate info share 🤷🏽‍♂️❤️

I so understand you . I had head a big tough time learning charts on a demo with IG.....then after 5 years of studying: I took some losses. Then having to go back to the demo again, really hurt. After 2 years now I'm nearly ready to go live again.......But this time my head is in the right place Troi. Thanx again for being transparent ::::: TreV from the Uk...........ps we are having a bad time in the Uk ATM, rates and NRG prices going to the moon.....just like all I guess..

Hey Tori, nice content! The proof that successful traders can also be pretty. 🙂 The trading scene seems to be too much dominated by guys... I have a question; have you ever considered using the platform Sierra Chart for trading? And would you ever consider to switch platforms? Keep it going, cheers from Switzerland

Have you ever thought of using footprints to trade? They open huge opportunities when scalping and show you charts showing the ratio of buyers vs sellers. I would recommend using and learning them and allow you to be so much more accurate with determining how the market will move short term. I know you are much better than me at trading and you have much more experience however I believe you should check it out if you have never heard of it before and it will be a huge help to you.
