A good video there, which shows the reality of our most fickle of hobbies. Some very true sentiments, it isn't about the 'great finds', as welcome as they are, most of the enjoyment comes from the stress release you get from being out in the beautiful countryside with your worries forgotten. I'm pleased to notice that you, like myself, only wear ONE glove out in the field, to scrape up the spoil whilst the other is left bare so you can feel the metal against the clinging earth. I really appreciate this reply Doug, there is no better stress buster for me. I have even put together a short video that explains (for me at least) the mental health benefits of our hobby. and yes I need to feel the find, its my way of connecting with the past.
