I had two red belly piranhas for about 7 years they were really easy fish to take care of except for the food they didn't eat,, they're super messy eaters,, not once did they try to attack me or even try to nibble at me,, for the most part every time I stuck my hand in the tank they would run and hide.... another fact is they would never eat with me in the room,, they would only eat when things were quiet and nothing was moving except the prey or the chunks of meat floating around the tank,, eventually they just died of old age.... R.I.P Iggy and Ziggy

My cousin owned a red belly in chicago. Just 1 in a 100 gallon tank. Just have to clean the tank often and keep the water clean. You also have to watch your fingers as they do look like food lol.

I have 3 red belly Piranhas aswell great fish mines are very aggressive tho toward eachother I'm in Glasgow 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 I've kept piranhas for years my last one was 10 inches absolute monster teeth like a demon

Probably best to get a few more as the tend to bite each other. If you have around 5/6 they will spread that aggression rather than focussing on one other piranha!

How do u clean their tank without to them dying because i owned a piranha once and when i cleaned it then i put on the newly freshed water to the tank they died

You only remove a small percentage of the water each week like 20/25% and make sure you treat the water with a water treatment to remove heavy metals and chlorine etc

I would recommend at least 300 litres for them as full grown adults but you can grow them out in something smaller

Yeah they can get pretty large! 350 litre would be okay for a smaller group of maybe 4/5 👌

When they are juveniles yes I agree but as they reach a year old all that behaviour reduces and at the moment has completely stopped
