My favorite softlock is one in gen 3 where you get a poisoned Pokémon down to 1hp right in front of the lottery person so that a single step faints your Pokémon and takes you to pacifidlog town. The only way out of the softlock is to win the master ball from the lottery which you only get one attempt at a day. Otherwise you can’t catch any Pokémon to escape pacifidlog town.

The Oddish softlock can be made even worse if it only knows Swords Dance, Sweet Scent, Flash, and Double Team, and it had the power points of all those maxed out. Since none of these moves are capable of dealing damage, your only method of escape would be using Struggle, and in order to do that, you'd have to go through 136 total combined power points. Keep in mind, though, that since Struggle causes recoil damage, you could only knock out a few Pokemon before fainting yourself, and then you'd have to start the whole process all over again
