42:15 buy hollow noodles from Clarke Rubber, slit the noodle and place them over the rafter poles - no more noise! Store the rafters with the noodle fitted :)

22:55 as a full time traveller and working on the road, 200-300 Km a day is fine - it's a big cost saver which provides the time to smell the roses and satisfy the boss 3-4 days a week.

18:55 I've mentioned this tip before. If you have at least a 40A DC-DC charge from the vehicle and a 'green' solar controller at 50A, then you turn the A/C on to 16C in the final run into the camp site, then back it to 22C on cool, and the A/C will cycle nicely - this works well. If you don't have a 'green' MPPT solar controller, then parking in the sun while shopping before camping will do the trick.

Yeah we tried this on our last trip and it didn’t cool the van much at all, not enough to be worthwhile abyway

We have a composting toilet in out van and in our 8 weeks of living in the van and traveling we are still yet to fill it, best thing ever. Would love to see you build a van. Its good to have a future goal. Keep up the good work.

Hi guys sitting watching your video now. Regarding composting toilets we’ve had the natures head in our last Retreat and installing that was the best thing I’ve done. Now in our new Retreat Daydream I’ve installed the OGO compost toilet. Just push a button and it stirs itself. No smell with either types. Only 2 of us but empty about every 4-6 weeks. Put one in you won’t regret it. Haven’t used a dump point for over 2 years.

Hi guys. You don’t have to physically stir your own poo, Erin. With a Nature’s Head, you close the lid, just like on the cassette loo, and turn a handle on the outside. We had one in our last van, and for 2 of us, the compost section easily lasts 4-5months, and at that point, I just changed it because I thought I should. We didn’t exclusively use, it, and would use public facilities if they were available. We also burned our loo paper. The toilet never smelled of anything other than wet dirt. At emptying time, it had broken down to the point that we pretty much took out the same volume as we put in, ie 9L compost. Our new van (arriving next month) has an OGO, which I’ve chosen as it’s more ergonomic, smaller and has a bucket emptying system. The urinal needs to be emptied more frequently, but if you’re used to emptying your cassette, you won’t be worried about this; you still don’t need a dump point, but we used it at parks as people are weirded out if we used the toilets of gardens, both of which are ok anyway. Also, you don’t need chemical additives, which is a plus for me, as I hated every chemical additive I tried and all gave me headaches. I think the issue most people have is they empty the compost too often, and it doesn’t have time to work it’s voodoo and break down. It takes 6 weeks for it to really work, and if you’re emptying it any earlier, you need to bag and store it so it continues to break down. Good info re the Starlink/Cowfish, too. We have been looking at this for years and still haven’t made a decision as we only to 3-4 month trips these days , and each time we’ve been out, internet and phone service are better each time, so we keep putting it off. We love watching your family adventures and agree with your choice of KZbinrs! So sorry we can’t join you at Camp for a Cure, but we have a wedding that weekend and hubby will be recovering from knee surgery as well, but we’ll be donating as Love Your Sister is my preferred charity. Happy days!

24:40 Unauthorised animals may not transit National Park boundaries - that's a fact, although a NP is just a State Park with National significance. You can in some areas, transit a NP with unauthorised animals without stopping - it's custard soup. Also, did I hear you, Alex, say don't be "de turd"?

Not sure if you’ve already had this comment re: composting toilet. Watch ADU’s review on them. I wish we did before we got our van, I would definitely have one in our van after watching their review.

Hi guys just regarding your stainless steel Webber plate, if you go onto KZbin and look up cooking on stainless steel pans etc you will learn how to get the temperature right and most of your food will not stick, just look for the water trick to work out the right temperature, I use stainless too cook on all the time now and the cleaning up is just a wipe over

hi guys, its interesting hearing about peoples travels and i enjoy watching them. i am a 70 year old retired truckie, and never thought i would own a caravan, but now i have a jayco base station, and a off road mobility scooter [ bad knees ] the thought of driving 5 or 6 days to look at a rock wasn't at all apealling, so now i have gone on a 2024 tick the bucket before i kick the bucket EVENT TOUR. i will do the sight seeing as i drive to the events. i have so far been to the summer nats in canberra, fantastic bogan car event, and the tamworth music festival, brilliant event but at 40 degree heat, having to head back to my aicon was a bit annoying.. my van is sign written with my itinerary so if anyone sees me i'm always good for some banter, next is the bells beach pro, then the margaret river pro, the the scary part for me accross the great central road to the finke desert race, then onto the boulia camel races, the darwin beer can regatta, back down to the birdsville cup, then the denny ute muster bathurst 1000 and ending the year at the phillip island moto gp, then hopefully home to byron bay with some epic tales of survival . i am wishing myself good luck, i think im gunna need it. wilkos 2024 TICK THE BUCKET BEFORE I KICK THE BUCKET EVENT TOUR.
