2:06 Chemistry doesn't work that way. DMSO, as others have commented, just makes chemical compunds to be absorbed through the skin. Ethanol and methanol are just different kinds of alcohol, one being a recreational drug and one being poisonous. Benzene is the chemical that makes gas stations smell that way. Fumes of it would only be hallucinogenic if it had an extremely high concentration. It's essentially like sniffing shoddy moonshine at a gas station. It's really poisonous, but would only possibly give you hallucinations if you poured it in a bag and inhaled it for a extended period of time. It would probably also make you heavily brain damaged. It's really, really basic chemistry. Like, they could have said "dihydrogen monoxide gave these people hallucinations", because water does that now; the bad writing demands it.

I like how right after she investigates a fake religious thing that makes people hallucinate, she doesn't even think for a second that she's being confused somehow into seeing some extremely unimaginative and stupid Biblical curses, even when she starts losing the ability to separate her dreams from reality.
@YMasterS2 жыл бұрын
Honestly, that's pretty realistic. Most prople who use hallucinations to debunk claims of the supernatural or paranormal do so to avoid having to explain something. Easier to say evidence or experience is fake than to explain it. Since hallucination is being used as an explanation purely to maintain the investigator's world view, their world view shifting through first hand experience would result in the dropping of hallucination as a defence of that world view.

I'll play devil's advocate (heh...) and say that Lauren does know that there is a demon baby inside Catherine and "we'll have to take care of him" might be being used in it's euphemistic form of "we'll have to kill him." I'm saying that maybe the line was a euphemism, and she DOES know that it's a devil baby. I'm arguing about the plot hole regarding Lauren's lack of knowledge, not Catherine's decision for the baby.

Your previous specificaly states you think implying she wanted to keep but now that I pointed out that wasn't the case you backtrack, and even if that wasn't you trying to say, your second doesn't accurately access phelous problems, he thinks the angel should known earlier, he thinks it's stupid that the the major event this movies is about only happens at the very end, and he thinks the baby problem is easily solvable, those are his problems.

"boys don't cry" for me is absolutely the most terrifying, disturbing, traumatizing, literally-nightmare-inducing film i have ever seen in my entire life. i only saw it once when i was 15, missed the beginning and it was on tv so it was probably edited like most things are compared to their dvd releases. i'm in my 30s now and still have never gotten over it. i have extreme disabling agoraphobia because i'm so scared what happened in that movie will happen to me (i live in a small town like where that took place and it was based on an actual real person/true story). i can't stand to see anything with hilary swank in it at all because it reminds me of that movie which then gets me all triggered and upset all over again. i can only watch this review because you're making fun of her the whole time, and i am really, really glad you didn't make any jokey references to her boys don't cry film. other people would have taken advantage of that connection (fucking nostalgia critic would have) because i donno, transgender jokes make you cool or something. i'd say it's because you just didn't know about it but you know every movie that everybody is in when you do reviews and i'd rather just give you credit for not being the kind of asshole that everyone else on the internet is these days. like how brokeback mountain is something that people like to make jokey references too and the guy who got fucking slaughtered in that and then his wishes were even honored after his death played in october sky which took place in WVa where i live so that one did my mental health no favors either. these movies are NOT funny just because "lol gay people" or "lol crossdressing" or whatever just because straight people never have to worry about it happening to them. anyway thanks for choosing not to be the same kind of prick as so many other people are. because these "jokes" are so common, your channel ends up being the only thing i can turn on for background noise throughout the day without getting nervous because i know you won't do this shit even in new uploads i haven't seen yet. i think i already left a comment rambling about this sometime before but whatever i'm saying it again because you had a perfect opportunity to be a stereotypical internet jackass with this film but didn't and i still appreciate things like that. i'm done now. carry on.

Thank you for making this comment airing your grievances toward those kinds of jokes and mentioning a movie I’ve never heard of that traumatized you in your youth, it probably isn’t easy to admit a movie messed with you emotionally or mentally like that. I for one had a similar experience with a movie called “the girl next door.” I watched it in highschool thinking it was that movie about the playboy bunny girl living next door and I was in the mood for a PG 13 raunchy romantic comedy, instead I watched what I think is a true story about a poor teenage girl being sexually and physically tortured to the point of mutilation by her own aunt and male cousins, it left me feeling physically sick to my stomach like I ate bad sushi, and to this day I’ve never watched it again and I still think about it sometimes. That movie was a little too real for me too.
