This is what makes me appreciate Oda’s gift of being a skilled writer with the passion and determination to equate to what he does. The fact that he had the foresight to push all of this information back for so many years into, what is basically a mini arc but not, is absolutely insane. When in actuality, all of what we are learning on a weekly basis through the Reverie arc, is mere setup and world building leading into the Straw Hat Alliance’s showdown with Kaido’s and Big Mom’s armies at Wano. This is why One Piece is the greatest manga of all time, and we are just getting started.

ZenithOfJudith I honestly don’t see how Sabo wouldn’t stomp. He’s a renowned and established Chief of Staff/Dragon’s right hand in the Revolutionary Army, he’s been trained in and mastered the technique of the Dragon Claw, he’s mastered Haki, he possesses the Mera Mera No Mi and has been training it’s power since he got it etc. Plus, if the ASL brotherhood hierarchy still stands as it always has, then Sabo should technically be stronger than Luffy is right now. Outside of maybe having all 3 forms of Haki, I can’t see Lucci being monumentally stronger than he was PTS.

It will always. It released only 1 volume and still #1 halfway through. But because there is only 1 volume released, Oda is working hard to catch up and release 2-3 volumes and be sure of that #1 spot again. Hence the reason we havent had a break for a while now.

The captain can’t be shiki based off the timeline given in the Ace novels. This crew existed before Roger/whitebeard/Shikis era and after roger and shiki the Yonko system was established with WB/Kaidou/big Mom and shanks. So before roger shiki and whitebeards era big mom and Kaidou were on the same crew but under a mega captain

I’d be underwhelmed if the Captain ended up being Shiki. After seeing him get defeated by Luffy in Strong World, canonical or not, it would feel like a half assed redemption to bring him back this late in the series in such a big way. Delving into the history of the Pirate culture/eras predating Roger’s era only makes sense because that sinks us deeper into the lore of the world as well as the Void Century.

I want it to be someone other than Shiki (more characters is a + for me), but at the same time I still want Shiki involved in another fashion other than Rocks/Locks. I don't think it's fair to cite the movie as it just doesn't make any sense. We're talking about a yonkou tier pirate being impossible for Luffy as of right now in the story, yet Luffy pre time skip beats Shiki? It's not about redemption for me, but rather giving us an extra yonkou tier pirate that by all means should still be relevant to the story. It's just weird that the other rival of Roger doesn't affect the main story in anyway.

Honestly the world building in one piece and the importance of of flashbacks hundreds of chapters ago show just how great one piece is because of the fact that the nameless celestial dragon that the Queen of fishmen island saved so long ago changed as a result and is now a really good person surprised me so much that I almost fell out of the chair. Wouldn't be surprised, maybe even the son or a bloodline member of the highest ranks in the celestial dragons. Sengoku respects him, and the 5 elders did him this favor that I see it really hard to be done to anyone else that is a pirate. Shanks might be what Luffy is to the D bloodline. To note, Garp also doesn't like Shanks that much, he did imply it was because he made Luffy a pirate, but I think it could go deeper, especially since Garp views Celestial Dragons as scumbags as he said in the earlier chapter.

I’ve always thought that there was going to be some sort of conflict between Luffy and Shanks at some point. Shanks is too perfect of an idol for Luffy, and yet, he has always been suspiciously shrouded in mystery. We know close to nothing about Shanks, aside from his ties to Roger’s crew and his current Yonko status. I feel like, when the Straw Hats arrive at Raftel, not only will the Blackbeard Pirates be there but Shanks and the Red Haired Pirates will be there as well. Shanks will either be there to test Luffy and challenge his worth in regards to the obtaining of the One Piece. Or, he’ll be there for the same reasons that Blackbeard will be.

Did anyone else notice the pattern with Shanks peaceful approach in almost everything? It was already a thing since the early days of the story when he chose not to fight the mountain bandits, until they started hurting Luffy. It showed again when he advised WB not to chase after BB, and at last it showed when he wanted to stop the war, he probably settled the matters with kaido before Marineford peacefully too since there wasn't any signs of a fight when he arrived at marineford.

But if Shakky is connected to Rocks in someway, you have to agree that Oda did not make "Rocks" up all of a sudden. He must've been foreshadowing about rocks ever since. These are things that I know about rocks foreshadowing so far: Please correct me if I am wrong or add more to this list if you find other info 1. Shakky says that Garp chased her 40 years ago. Now Hina uses 40 years in her sentence as well. 2. During Kaido's intro, we hear the narrator say that, Kaido challenged yonko(4 emperors) and subsequently submerged a ton of navy ships etc. That means that there must've been an era of pirates even before Kaido or Roger's era. As its almost certain at this point that Roger and Kaido are from same generation, maybe not in a power perspective but at least in terms of activity. I mean when Roger was growing, Kaido could've been a rookie or vice-versa. I think latter makes more sense coz Roger is much younger than WB, Kaido, Big Mom etc. 3. Not to mention mainly if Roger became King of Pirates, there must've been some opposition or competition for him to gain that title. Its not like he was the first pirate and ended up becoming King of Pirates. If he was the first pirate, he would've a different title right? 4. Also if Kaido and Big Mom were part of rocks crew, it could mean that Oda did foreshadow these things much earlier. Why? Rocks pirates had 3 poneglyphs(4th one with WG). When their captain died or went away, Big Mom and Kaido took those poneglyphs and formed their own crew. This 4th point is not completely correct, but if this is true, it means that Oda did foreshadow a lot of things about Rocks or in general an era of pirates before Roger.

I hope we get a scene where Rebecca doubts Mjosgard since he’s a Don Quixote, the same as Doflamingo, then we see him prove he’s genuine by saying something like “It’s beyond my power to undo the damage my family has done to your home. But it *is* within my power to help another, if you so choose.” to which he looks at Shirahoshi and her family, bringing the theme of past hatreds full circle. I think that would be major character development for Rebecca and would be interesting to see.

Chibi, you've highlighted an abundance of interesting variables in the One Piece storyline that expand on what seems to be the infinite depth of this series' world. To me, however, the most interesting part is that among all of this, we have our main character. A one-track minded pirate captain who couldn't care less about anything else besides his friends, food, and going on an adventure to become pirate king. Needless to say it has and will continue to involve him in these battles, wars and all sorts of drama. We've seen it before and we are sure to see it again with battles about history, ideologies etc. Luffy doesn't give a rat's ass. The man's one response to everything is simple: "I'm going to be the pirate king." This one line we used to chuckle about early on in the show, and now we get goosebumps every time he says it. Us viewers are immersed in to this fantastic, expansive, emotional and comical story, learning more and more every week; This one line throws every arc's complications out of the window and brings us back to this one, simple goal, and this one man's determination to reach it. To me, THAT makes One Piece special. "You see idiots like that every once in a while. Ones who will fight to the death once they've set their eyes on a target. Even if someone has hundreds of weapons built into his body, he can be defeated by someone with a spear of blind determination. I honestly think Shanks has crazy observation haki and can tell the future. Remember his meet with Whitebeard? He was insistent that letting him go handle blackbeard would be the more safe option. AnimeSlaps your correct, Kaido wasn't feared by seeing Big Mom but when he heard that she can instantly kill someone by fear he trained himself to be afraid by Big Mom. But it was to no use, Big Mom stole his soul and... Nothing happend. Therefore she referred him as a "thing". Eighter that or Kaido didn't pull out when they had sex.

plot twist. shanks is the big bad of the entire series and has been secretly conspiring to help control the will of D. Shanks probably directly responsible for rogers downfall. No one would see it coming and it would build up a proper ending villain for luffy with tons of emotional drama in the mix.. also If my memory serves usops dad is also on shanks crew no? so it lines up to be this big dramatic final showdown between the two crews and family members. Pretty sure, Shanks wants to talk about Black Beard. It would parallel perfectly with the 1st half of the series. Big mom and kaido are likely going down at Wano via infighting that weakens them enough for luffy and his allies to beat them. The Reverie is likely setting up the endgame with possibly Dragon or even Blackbeard showing up and sitting on the throne.
