This is VERY good! BlueRav3 has a good point about expression. Considering the tone of the song, you could work on the eyes a bit. He almost looks too happy through most of it. Aside from that, this is incredibly well done. The lip synching is freakin spot on. Keep up the good work!

What software did you use for the 3D models of the characters?

I used Source Filmmaker to animate the actual models. To create the actual models I used VTF Edit, Notepad++, and Half-Life Model Viewer. There is a tutorial about making OC's, but some are hard to follow so I may make one myself.

I definitely love this song and I feel that deep emotion in the song and each note tugs at my heartstrings everytime I hear it. I heard it when I was ten years old and I didn't feel the deeper emotion of the song as I do now. This song is definitely a childhood favorite of mine. I love the animation as well but I think it would have worked even better if the pony singing was regretful and sad and slowly go to a warm loving smile and embrace his special somepony like it took an eternity to find and he doesn't want to let her go again and promises to change for the better and be a better version of himself.

Mind if I ask. In the SFM, is there a program for the lip synching, or are you doing this all? Sliders and the full score?

There is something in SFM that does automatic lip syncing, but it doesn't work that well since it's computer generated. It only works with acapellas or voice-only sounds. I manually lip synced this entire video with sliders and used the round tool to smooth it all out. I might put out a tutorial eventually on how I do the lip syncing.

Most projects take about 2-3 months depending on how complex the scenes are. Animating takes a long time as each 10 second scene could take up to 3 days to animate.

KZbin has a feature that allows you to use audio samples in your video. This feature also includes the "Audio Library" which allows you to type in a song and check whether it will be muted or banned in certain countries. In this case, I was allowed to use the song only if KZbin could place ads which I was okay with.
