You know, I'm starting to think this is going to be an intentional contrast between Luffy and Oden's rebellions. Ultimately, Oden was born _too_ strong. Throughout this flashback, the dude radiated such chad energy that he's never needed to depend on anybody and so...he didn't. He radiates sheer charisma so people follow him, but he basically never relied on any of them and tried to fix everything by himself. Luffy also takes things upon himself, like with Queen's disease, but he still counted on Chopper and the rest of his crew to bail him out.

I think Whitebeard was unable to come to Wano due to Kaido also possessing extremely powerful facial hair. Well by that logic - both of them became a part of the Yonko... Shanks is a peaceful dude, so I guess fighting him isn’t worth it - since he won’t get anything out of it, unless he still has the feelings that he had at the time of Oden’s death. Even if he were to go to Wano in the current timeline, and beat the living hell out of Kaido, what would he achieve from that? Maybe it’s just as you said, he left it in the past...

Ace was his stupid son, so as the parent he had to save him regardless of whether or not he wanted to be saved. On the other hand oden was a brother, closer to an equal and his own man. Since oden was his more own man WB would be much more likely to respect his wishes and let him fight his own battles

I feel like there are two key factors that are missing when most people ask this question 1. The assumption that Whitebeard always was the one to swoop in to save his crew mates, like maybe Odens death was even a “never again” moment for whitebeard and a huge motivator for why he went to save Ace. And 2. The fact that the reason that Ace was captured was heavily tied back into Whitebeards crew and was thus his responsibility to get involved with, the whole situation originated within his crew so it was 100% his business.

One of the greatest things about the Arlong Park arc is how disinterested Luffy was about the whole ordeal. It was absolutely not his problem or concern UNTIL the very moment Nami asked for his help. All of a sudden that's all that it took for him to spring into action and his reason for doing so really had nothing to do with all the BS Arlong was doing. It's my belief that even if Whitebeard knew that Oden was in trouble, unless he specifically asked for help, he would have left Oden to deal with his own issues.

@@jayjoe3716 I think the reasoning stems from the difference between Oden and Ace's relationships. Ace was Whitebeard's son. When a child makes a mistake, it is usually the parent that takes responsibility. In the same way, the ordeal between Ace and Blackbeard could be interpreted as his responsibility. In the first place, he allowed Teech onto the ship. With Oden on the other hand, he states that he considers him a brother. Unlike a son, the parent wouldn't take responsibility for the uncle's actions. So if WB did try to help, he'd be dishonoring that relationship and be treating him like his son not his brother.

To be honest that’s been Oden from the start. He’s never been the man to seek out help. Unlike Luffy who actively sought out all his members, Oden’s just got followers. Oden is a man who will carry all the burdens on his own. He’s never asked for help, he just gives it.

This is easily my biggest problem with the current arc right now. Unless Oda gives us a new scene, I just don't get it. He destroyed the marines and risked his life and crews life for Ace but didn't for Oden. I guess they can say Odens death causes him to change his mind, but that mentality was shown even before Oden died. Seems a little inconsistent to me.

Any kind of powerscaling in marineford is useless for the little information we had about haki. Also which fruit takes an important rol, if any other admiral had recieved the atacks akainu reieved they would be dead, akainu only survived because he fell on a magma pool restoring his power(which is plot armor to have a long term villan in the marines). And as other people have said the comander didn't take so much damage so if htey fighted to dead probably some admiral would have died. It's not an insta win as they say but they would probably win

@Kruv Mezulari First of all i remember that the manga says it (in the spanish translation) that akainu survived because it fell on the lava. 2nd whitebeard died at the end, it just did an scene it's not like akainu which survived and then had the power for making all the comanders run away when before being atacked by whitebeard the comanders were atacking him. 3rd the tsunami strategy of Wb can kill any devil fruit user, the only one that can survive it's aokiji, if he did that to kill big mom for example it will be logic. And last isolating him wouldn't be imposible he can 1vs1 for sure, if the comanders and allied captains avoid the shichibukai and the admirals to get near for the time of the Wb tsunami it's a win for them(yes they may die but it's an strategy that makes a victory, if they have the mentality of oars jr it's posible to do it)

Theory, the reason White Beard was so *plus ultra* at Marineford was White Beard being, “not another Odin.” As in, White Beard didn’t find out about Odin till it was too late (seemingly Odin and his family is “dead”), and he feels immense guilt for failing Odin.White Beard was literally there when his children were born. For White Beard, this could be easily be his biggest failure, that haunted him till his deathbed.

i think everyone is overlooking the fact that we didnt get a whole dialogue with oden inside the castle with kaido and orochi. kaido must have said to him, “if you try to look for help, or call whitebeard. we will know and attack the second you try” leaving them defeated before help can come.

Even more importantly why didn’t oden ask for help? The entire 5 year period he was dancing he could have made back up plans in case orochi a known liar, lied again. How hard would have been to send the Minks back to zou. They have a natural homing sense. And then have the entirety of the Minks look for the white beard pirates or the remainder of the roger pirates. Seems like pretty bad writing to have Oden and his family fall for Orochis lies over and over again. Even Zoro bowed a knee to Mihawk for the sake of luffy but Oden was too proud to ask for help for the sake of his land?

Things I wonder during the flashback.. 1- Vivre cards. No doubt WHitebeard would have given ALL his sons a Vivre card or vice-versa to keep track. 2- Ace made a visit to Wano AFTER Oden's death (Because O-Tama) so maybe there WAS some kind of vengeance. I hope the 2nd part will be explained though. :)

Its worth mentioning that when Luffy first found out his brother was in trouble, he was very nonchalant about it. He laughed it off saying "Ace is a strong guy, he can take care of himself. He'd be mad at me if I tried to help. I'm sure he'll be alright." Even if he found out Oden was in trouble, there's a chance Whitebeard would have a similar reaction. He knows how ungodly powerful Oden is and he would be confident he can take care of himself.

HERE ME OUT: I believe Buggy is going to join the wano arc and help luffy.The reason for this is of course the fact of knowing Oden and wanting revenge some way.Plus it would be great dialogue to make him look good for his crew again and give funny moments.This reason i think this is definate is because buggy right now is about to get wiped for sure being weak and warlord system breaking and powerful marines hunting them.As the marines are not apart of wano as of now buggy would prob somehow roll up to wano to be allies to fight for oden and legally not be cornered by marines after no protection from warlord system.In terms of storyline this would be great from the author's persepctive too to make good purpose for buggy...

Ben Dev the thing is, Buggy is hella selfish. Now if he somehow gets forced into the conflict then yea I can see something like that, but he’s not going to seek out a battle with Kaido. I don’t even see him considering Wano an option for the simple fact that Kaido is there and he knows full well how strong he is, and as goofy as Buggy is, he’s no fool. But to be fair it would be very interesting if it played out the way you said it would

@@KingJinzo2125 i get what you mean with buggy's characteristic but what im implyiing is that he will hide with allied strawhats fighting and do smaller work with the war.I dont mean head on with kaido but still there with his mass crew but somehow get pulled in because this arc is going to be huge and he wont be hunted by powerful mnmarines there so lying in the shadows of the majoor war and escaping being atttacked by marines cos its hard to believe buggy would beat the people who are after him.

My best explanation is that izo and wb were somehow informed of toky's prophecy ( probably by neko and ino) about the 9 samurais and the saving of wano after 20 years, and respected the prophecy and felt like they shouldn't interfere just yet.

I'm sure if Whitebeard went back to visit it would've been shown by Oda. Or at least wrote out that Whitebeard offered Oden help but Oden Refused. I really think Whitebeard let it be like Oden wished for it to be. Now as for Whitebeard and crew not getting revenge to me is wierd. The thing about not being able to communicate with the outside world is that we saw Kaido using a transponder snail when Big Mom called to tell him she was coming to Wano. Oden had to have learned about those snails while he was sailing with WB and Roger. If Oden wanted, he could have kept one with him when he returned to Wano.

For the later point of why whitebeard after oden died didnt go take revenge i dont think its cause in 20 years he didnt find out. But probably how he found out was neko or inu or one of the other scabbards that stayed behind told him BUT when whitebeard wanted to make a move they informed them of lady tokis prophecy and convinced whitebeard to wait for that day. And if he were still alive he and the crew would be rocking up right now.

We can expand on headcanon here. Basically, my thought is that Wano is an isolated country, and that is often overlooked on the political level. People in wano need someone on the inside to rally them together. They were hoping in Oden, but lost faith in him due to his behavior. So, if the fool lord's friends, and a foreigner group at that, would have come to fight... what would have been the response?! Probably they would labeled that as a "pirate fight on wano's territory" like the one with moria: not something to fight for, just a damage on wano's land brought by outsiders. So, even if they'd won, no one would have been keen to accept the winner as a ruler, they'd never follow him, and that is something well addressed in the current story: they bowed down to hyogoro and momonosusuke, not luffy. Pirates are just an help, and luffy does what he does best and people will trust him in the end, but this one is still a matter regarding only wano and his people. Outsiders are not welcome, and that's totally understandable for an isolated country, and this is not just a fight against kaido: wano needs to find the power and resolution to fight for itself, they need to win back that hope they lost and put everything on the line for one more time. It's a battle for wano's soul in a sense, and that kind of battles are winnable only from the inside: every outside help is good, but not enough to give people a reason to start again.

I think the time Orochi met the Aigis Zero in the present is the first time they met. Remember Doflamingo's pivotal role as a broker. Orochi would not trust the world government to supply him with information. Also Drake joined the beast pirates pretty much pre-timeskip and never saw them in Wano before.
