Gosh, the hypocrisy and misogyny surrounding the Duggars and people they associate with knows no bounds. Young men like Josh and Caleb, who have violated minors are continually allowed in the family circle, because “it‘s not their fault they sinned/they repented and the victims forgave them/etc,” but God forbid that a single woman have a consensual premarital sexual relationship or have a child out of wedlock, as in the cases of Amy Duggar King’s mother or Susanna Keller.

With so many kids, they are bound to run into some bad apples although I haven’t seen the media reporting on even a few shady characters hanging around as friends. Nor has it been established that Caleb was going out with any Duggar girl. Child pornographers are found in many areas of life, in atheists, in the so called religious, poor, middle class, rich, teachers, warehouse workers, youtubers etc. It has never been reported that any of the other “Duggars”, all the little boys, little girls, adult children or parents have anything to do with surrounding themselves with unsavory people or have anything to do with child pornography as a family. Painting the whole family with one brush because of one person is how families were treated in the Middle Ages for the guilty. Child pornographers are found in millions of families all over the world and their families aren’t guilty, the pornographer is.

When Josh was arrested, DHS got involved and wanted to interview the children. Anna refused and that was within her rights. I don’t agree with her refusal and I’m NOT defending her. Once Josh was found guilty, federal judge Timothy Brooks ordered that the children were to be forensically interviewed and forensically examined if the interview indicated that the child had been SA’d by Josh. Anna could not refuse the federal judge’s order and all of the children were forensically interviewed. Judge Brooks ordered that due to the nature of the crime Josh was found guilty of and that offenders like Josh usually have SA’d their own children, plus Josh had SA’d 4 of his sisters when he was a teen. In my opinion, Josh’s younger siblings and his nieces and nephews should also be forensically interviewed. It’s clear that Josh has no boundaries and it wouldn’t be a stretch to think he’d SA his children. Remember when Josh fixated on if CSAM material had been downloaded or uploaded on his work computer when he was talking to the two HSI agents? I think it might be because he created his own CSAM material. Many of the dark web websites that distribute CSAM are very leery of newcomers wanting to download their CSAM. Those websites will often require a new person to upload CSAM that they made themselves to show that they are not policemen or other law enforcement people trying to infiltrate their website so they could bring charges against them. Once the newcomer uploads their own created CSAM, then they can download the material they want on that website. We will never know the results of those forensic interviews of the children because they’re sealed in the pre sentencing reports that Josh’s parole officer filed with the court.

they speculate on jana duggar because in the IBLP it is not uncommon for the parents of large broods to force their eldest daughter to not marry and to stay home looking after their siblings. They are prevented from having a normal life to basically be an indentured servant to their parents. I think that's where the concern comes from for jana. there is also evidence Michelle and Jim Bob are doing this as Jana has courted a few times but Jim Bob refused to allow it to go further.

Blame the girl’s parents if you don’t like the age difference. They are the ones who chose him as her fiancé. Yup, they were engaged to be married. Arranged by both his and her parents, as is done in that religious group. 16 is the common age for it for the girl. What shouldn’t have happened is what her mother did when she got pregnant before the wedding. Caleb should never have been charged. He was operating in good faith as her soon-to-be husband and father of her child. Makes no sense at all to put him on a sex offender registry. That’s an abuse of the registry.

Also both her and his sister told me. “There’s more to the story than what’s in the news.” I’ve since clipped that branch of the family tree off, and years later, the ‘story’ never had anything added to it. The reason he ended up with the girl is that he was sent to Illinois for an ARRANGED MARRIAGE by both sets of parents. In order to understand Anna you have to understand what it's like growing up in a hyper-fundamentalist home, likely with emotional abuse from at least one parent and your church system. I grew up in a slightly less extreme background and I can tell you I had pretty much zero personal agency by the time I was in my 20's. Even your mind and desires are so repressed that you "choose" for your own desires and beliefs to reflect what you're told that they should be. But you have no idea that you're not making your own decisions. Getting yourself deprogrammed is beyond tough and it takes noticing over time that what you've been told will happen if you follow "God" (the rules) is just simply a lie, and the people you thought were there to guide you to God are really only there to use and exploit you. Understanding how twisted it all is takes years, sometimes decades. And in the meantime any children you may have will get traumatized and hopefully will learn what not to do by watching you. I think the conversation about Anna deserves much more nuance and understanding, while gently being concerned for the kids and hoping they get out of the situation however that has to happen.

I grew up in a similar situation but there are things that cross the line and become a matter of basic human decency I towed the line for years followed all the rules and was abused over and over again as a reward. I'm the youngest my older sister had a child very young because that's how it goes but when our abuser showed clear signs of moving on to the newest addition to the family I went to police and that person landed in jail all adults have a responsibility to protect children no matter how many times that behavior was normalized or even encouraged you don't forget it's effect on you and standing silently while it happens to someone else makes you complicit.

They were engaged and like many couples, started having sex before the ceremony. My mother said that when she was young, nobody out in the country got married until the girl was pregnant... Their parents had arranged the marriage and her mom should never have brought charges. She just was mad about the girl getting pregnant early instead of waiting for the wedding. The judge made the sentence as light as possible undoubtedly for that reason. Caleb wants to share custody of their child and he should appeal to get taken off that registry. I think 16 is a pretty common age for parents in that religion to arrange marriages. Anna was unusual because she wanted to wait until she was 18.

To think I was judging them for saying they were so broke, yet they were on tv and had this AMAZING life, while all along those girls were suffering right along with me. And now they’ve been forced to either speak out, and very likely lose the rest of their family, friends, co-workers… or stay silent and continue to crumble on the inside…every damn day; for being loyal, for putting family first, and because nobody has ever told them that their feelings matter or that they matter. Lol- I have one- ours is a cat shaped white plastic toy with a black astronaut helmet face that comes on every 15 minutes and the laser comes out of its face and moves across the floor for my cats to chase. We got ours on amazon.

Caleb was engaged to the 16 year old, and her parents arranged it. Not that it makes it right, but the mom was angry that they didn't wait until the wedding. The 16 year old's parent actually arranged for her to marry a 23/24 year old. They are just as bad, and Caleb thought he was spending "a lifetime" with the girl. He wasn't out watching SA of a toddler.

I don’t think he should be on the sex offender list. I disagree that it is a ‘horrendous’ crime. Sixteen is very close to adult age. He seems to want to stick around to raise his daughter. Impregnating his girlfriend is NOT The same as viewing/engaging in CSA. This is 2022. Sex happens. Pregnancy happens. How the 2 people feel about one another & their situation is what should be important. Perhaps this baby will suffer because her parents were made to separate, when they may have created a beautiful family. If her mom loved her daughter she could have supported them by helping with childcare while mom finished her education. Sorry. End of rant!

In many states the legal age of consent is 16. It's the same in many parts of Europe. If you can early enlist or be charged as an adult for a crime then you can consent.

@@peacebaby914 - But both sets of parents set them up as an arranged marriage. He didn't just go to her town and start dating her. Her mom just got mad because she got pregnant before the wedding, as happens to many people. Usually the wedding would just occur sooner and nobody would care. Not so long ago, it was common for parents to set up their teenage daughters with much older men. Their age difference for these two is much less than in older times. The idea was to start her off as a wife as early as possible (not much else for girls to do, same in that religion today) but for the man to be old enough to be established and able to support a family. The registry was certainly not intended for this purpose at all.

I mean Josh was let down by his parents in the first place wasn’t he? To be raised in such a suppressed environment he then behaved inappropriately, was then let down again when they failed to properly get treatment for him and then failed to protect their daughters by just letting him come home and now they have a grown adult child who views extreme CP. I feel for Josh the kid, but not for Josh the adult. All the buddy system stuff would have exposed Josh to his siblings as babies and toddlers and god knows whether he ever did anything to them then, as I believe the youngest child pictured was 18 months in the images they recovered from the computer. As for Anna… that poor girl is probably stuck halfway between knowing deep down what she SHOULD do and doing what she was RAISED to do, being a “good wife” to Josh. I imagine she feels a lot of worry of being entirely on her own with 7 kids, if she leaves Josh I doubt she’ll get any support from the duggars or the community then. It’s got to be one hell of a thing to do, to just leave behind all you’ve ever known and maybe even believed in for a long time. At least Josh is in prison and he’s not around the kids, and it’s not an immediate issue he would be again; so she’s hopefully got time to get brave and get out.

I think the Duggar’s attract so many people like Caleb and allow them to be around their kids because they believe they can pray these “demons” out of these men or don’t believe they’re a danger to their children. I think these characters are attracted to the Duggar’s because there are so many children there for them to try to get an opportunity with. Most offenders until they’re caught are men that have put themselves in jobs or as troop leaders, priests and clergy to be accessible to children. They literally prey on the children and the Duggar’s turn a blind eye to these offenders and welcome them into their home and never have protected their underage children, even from their own son.
