Taemin was on a dance show called "Hit the Stage" and even the other competitors said there is an enormous difference in Taemin's stage presence between his dry rehearsals and the real performance. It's already crazy in rehearsal, but live it's even better.

Fun thing about his spins that Boa, the literal queen of Kpop, pointed out - he spins like a figure dancer. Arms in and head whipping. And what's beautiful is he's mentioned he does this intentionally because he knows it creates a more beautiful performance. Everything he does is so intentional and we'll thought out.

Thank you for this vid! I've danced for a long time and started following Taemin's career after Ian Eastwood posted about choreographing his solo debut, Danger. I was so pleased to find out Koharu Sugawara has choreographed many of his MVs... Taemin just reflects my taste in dance and I'm always trying to sort out why... so it's nice to see it analyzed a bit. I think he does have such wonderful popping technique and his stature and clean lines really suit the texture that adds. It's not as easy to see here (likely b/c he's in a mirrored studio), but I've noticed in quite a few live performances (especially with Shinee) he let's his head go with the choreography and makes less straight ahead eye contact with the audience than the other members... the product of which makes him just look so possessed by the song and the choreography, like he's dancing for himself and not the audience. It's something special. I've tried to do some of these things in class, but it's so hard to knock the habit of looking in the mirror the whole time...

I love the two long phrases the prechorus consists of and something I noticed is that in each prechorus on the ending of the first line (does that make sense? Here are timestamps to hopefully clarify what I mean: 2:38 and 4:12) his dancers roll off to the sound of the long vowel he sings at the end of the phrase. It might not be that big of a deal but it's just super cool to me

The woman with black/blonde hair is Rian and she's (most likely) the main choreographer for this dance. She's absolutely insane - she's choregraphed SO MANY Of this year's best dances with her team. She's Chungha's main choreographer + she's been involved in Baekhyun's Candy, CLC Helicopter, Hyo's desser. It's so cool seeing her dance with Taemin cos his style is so distinct/different

Koharu choreographed this☺️ u may see a lot of Koharu’s choreo style, mixing with Taemin’s uniqueness of course, especially in the last chorus in this dance. She has been collab with taem for several times and I really like them. But of course, Rian is also a wonderful dancer (and choreographer, although I don’t think this is choreographed by her).

Taemin's back up dancers whether in Korea or Japan mostly are choreographers or maybe the best of the bests because they must keep up to Taemin's energy. If you don't have that criteria you can't be his back up dancer. Taemin's performance director has to conduct audition for this matter. I remember this Japanese who is known as the best dancer in Japan applied as Taemin's back up, that's how they respect Taemin as a dancer, and vouched that they will only back up dance if it's Taemin. In this particular Criminal dance, Taemin personally chose Koharu Sugawara and Kasper wherein he quoted that he would want to work with someone he is closed and comfortable to work with so he can execute his ideas and insert his own choreography.

Now it makes sense why he's not chosen in a poll (correct me if I'm wrong) by choreographers as the best or one of the best artist/idol they have ever made choreogrphy for. Because they haven't. There are only a chosen few that's selected to make choreography with him.

Thank you for your insights- I love hearing a real dancer’s analysis and understanding of what’s going on. I feel valid that I’m seeing something spectacular even when I don’t get the full mechanics. And yes, he absolutely lives the dance. He conveys emotions and a story, it’s like phrasing as a musician plays a lines in a piece of music, Taemin takes your eye and feels from beginning to end. I highly recommend to everyone Verivery´s choreographies they are really a kings of synchronization and they still rookies it´s so freaking amazing, chek it pleaseee, i would really love it They are gonna make Comeback, please support them. I normally not comment for requesting any youtube reactor to react any MV / dance performance. However, I really like when you analyze the dance performance. Here is my only one request. Please react to "Red Velvet - IRENE & SEULGI Episode 1 : Naughty". The MV version is okay since it almost the performance MV with cool image technique. If you haven't seen his SuperM dance promo, it's really something you need to see in order to understand his genius in that discipline.
