Fiesta in the PH usually commemorates/celebrate the Feast Day of a Saint. That is why, with the celebration, Filipinos go to church and pray to that Saint and they light candles for their prayers. This is part of the Filipino Catholic culture.

Glad you discovered cheese corn, it's actually a good combination. Anyway, thank you for taking us with you to this vibrant food scene during the town's fiesta. And may I just say that the Philippines loves the Kim Family, too, for many reasons most esp. your authenticity, cheerfulness, gratefulness, and sense of adventure. Wishing you all the best!

Hello, you're in the town fiesta or the festivites of the place and it usually goes with the patron saint of the town and the purpose of the candles is like adorning the patron saint with the ligthning of the candle in the church and pray for all the blessings that everyone has in that year and in coming years. It's like thanksgiving day.

We call that "tiangge" (bazaar). It is pronounced "chang-geh". There are always foods in bazaars. In fact there are some big eateries now that started in food bazaars like Mary Grace. Some tiangge are permanent, some are put up only on specific days in a week like every Tuesday, and some are temporarily set up during town fiestas or any big events. A fiesta is a yearly festival thanking the town's patron saint for a good harvest and protection. And yes, sometimes they sell candles around a church for those who want to light candles in the candelabra area of the church. It is similar to burning incense in temples. Also candles are sold whenever there is going to be a procession of a holy image on the streets of a town.

I miss Philippines market or street food. I wonder how much now are the kwek kwek, or fishball now. I haven't been home for 15 years so everything has been changed for sure. Although I would come back home and settle there when I turn 35 years old which is 11 years more until I come back home.

Hi👋nice to meet you! I've never tried kwek before. I'll try it soon! Fish balls cost 10-15 pesos per cup. The Philippine market is truly happy.💜💜💜

ukay means making a mess or messy. initially ukay =ukay sellers just put all the clothes into huge pile and buyers have to really dig in and search. in the process, making it appear more messy. that's why it's called ukay-ukay. most fiesta or festivals in the Philippines is of religious celebrations.

@@KZbinr..335 yes but in my POV, she also needs to learn Tagalog so she can blend well and communicate with anyone in the Philippines. Like other Koreans who live in the Philippines. It’s an advantage. She will win the hearts of the Filipinos more.

A Philippine fiesta is the celebration of the town's patron saint. That is why candles are being sold outside church premises. It is intended as an offering to God through the saint's intercession.
