This was exactly what I needed. I washed my 89 Mazda b2600i and did the mistake of not drying it enough. My truck turned on and then just started dying off. Cleaned the MAF sensor and now works great again. Thanks so much.

Love your videos Greg. This is exactly what happened to me, I thought it was water in the spark plugs and wasted a lot of time but yes it was the MAF. Next time I'm protecting the delicate parts before I wash the engine.

i had the engine wash last week bmw 328i 2015 and notice a hard 1 and 2 gear.. i did clean the maf and still same issue but no engine light or code.. yesterday i removed the coils and notice moist in on of the coils.. i replaced all 4 spark and just that coil very lucky engine and trans now run smooth.. engine wash never again

I'm a used car dealer. Every time I've had an issue after engine cleaning since you didn't mention this, is water getting down the sparkplug holes. Another spot to check.

I need help with my vechile I have an 2004 Hyundai Santa Fe and I had a friend change my spark plugs and coils on my vechile and once he did that my car was driving fine for one day then a check engine light come on. I get the vechile scanned and code p1110 & p1172 came up so I figured it was the throttle body.. that still didn’t fix the issue. My vechile is not driving over 20mph and it is not idling.. any ideas because I had my vechile at the shop for two weeks and they can’t find the issue yet neither please help thank you

I had my engine cleaned at Nissan and three days later I had a check engine light on, car won’t run and Nissan says it’s a throttle body issue, but it was not caused by them since car was perfectly running for three days after wash. Do their claims sound right or could it be that the part was damaged by them during the wash?

@@benwolfe577 don’t use compressed air on a MAS sensor. It’s very sensitive and could easily be damaged by the high air velocity. A blower would most likely be fine.

I cleaned my intake manifold and throttle body on my magnum 5.7. I have the same problem and it sputters and wants to die after I start it.

When idling, the throttle body butterfly (valve) is just BARELY cracked open, and the metered airflow at idle is crucially sensitive to any changes from factory specs. Sometimes residual effects of cleaning leaves just enough of the gummy stuff on the edge of the valve or the bore of the body to make it stick closed, or at least not opening properly, or it could leave it such that it doesn’t close completely or enough for the proper airflow for a clean idle. Those tolerances are crucial. Is it possible some of that gunk got splattered into the Mass Airflow Sensor while it was separated from the throttle body, since the backside of the MAS would then be exposed to debris? Unless a part was physically damaged or altered from spec clearances, each component of the intake system probably just needs the appropriate cleaning with the appropriate solution. Hope you get it fixed. I love my Hemi Magnum. Also make sure all electrical connections are clean and reengaged properly.

@@andrewhigdon8346 I use air intake valve cleaner for my 2015 Kia soul 1.6L, every time it runs rough for about 30 minutes. sometimes I won't be able to go past 15-25 mph (it varies) for a few minutes, and the car shakes violently. Eventually, I can slowly make it up to 45-55 mph. Finally, after the 30 minutes, it's pretty much back to normal running condition. I've asked about it on Kia soul forums and they tell me I likely hydro-locked the engine but it's been a year since. I did it again today and the same thing happened. I spray in from outside of where the air intake box goes. I don't see where I'm doing anything wrong. I try to spray in short bursts. If I do a full spray it makes the car stall. I keep it around 2k rpm as instructions say to do and after the can is empty, turn the car off and let sit for 10 minutes then drive for at least 10 minutes or more with "spirited acceleration".

Hi Greg I purchased my 2016 CRV LX in 2018 and since then its been ruff idling or has a lagging idle which shakes the car as if it will kill most of the time and it is most irritating and uncomfortable to get use to. I've taken it to the dealer of and they said its running fine nothing wrong with it. I see you used a brand name cleaner and get it why not to use WD40 or contact cleaner. But if you're concerned about additives, detergents and residue why not use %100 isopropyl alcohol in a spray bottle as the MAF sensor cleaner is alcohol based anyway. Just saying, cheers.

Hey Einstein, you're not supposed to spray the plastic housing with the MAF sensor cleaner. You're supposed to remove the sensor from the housing and spray the two elements inside the actual MAF sensor. The body/housing had own special cleaner also made by CRC. I'm fact they also package them together to be sold together. You also shouldn't be teaching others to spray it over their lawn. You don't want that in your soil and you damn sure don't want it in your water.
