Thanks for no noti KZbin. Anyways, KZbin fuckery aside, The rebirth of the eldar gods would be a huge event. That would honestly shake the landscape of 40k in massive ways. It would be interesting to see the gods reactions to the eldar and dark eldar. It also would be interesting to see if the gods would retain their memories and personalities, or if they would have been warped by their millennia inside of Slaanesh. The possiblity of some eldar being the reincarnation of their gods is also rather interesting, in that it would be worth seeing if these specific eldar could unlock their memories or powers. If these eldar ascend in someway would their personalities change to match those of their original, perhaps sacrificing "themselves" to be born once again as their original forms, or would they retain themselves and simply take on the full aspects of the god? Lots and lots of questions. Anyways, great video you two! I hope you are feeling better rem, and it's always nice to hear you voice stuff Naerina

I would hope that at least one Eldar God would choose to sacrifice themselves to let the new incarnation retain their sense of self and become a new god of that aspect. It'd be especially poignant if Asurian pulled a 'This is my atonement for my failure to protect my people, don't make the same mistake.' given the title he has.

Here's an idea: we know the Emperor made some type of deal to make the Primarchs, and that they are not wholly of the material realm. What if they were made with the fragments of the Eldar gods? For an example, I could easily see Vulcan being a reborn Vaul...
@MrMortull2 жыл бұрын
Ooooh, now THAT is a tasty concept! I can't imagine how Yvraine might react to that knowledge if she had access to it... it might well destroy the tentative co-operation between the Ynnari and Imperium! Both sides pretty well blame the other for a lot of Chaos' shit after all, this would definitely be a point of contention. Although... if Roboute turned out to be "Asuryan embodied", things could well be a lot more complicated. The possibilities are boundless. :)
@Dingghis_Khaan2 жыл бұрын
If we were to apply this logic to the others, I could see Morai Heg being associated with Magnus, and Kurnous being associated with the Khan. Addendum: Fulgrim being made with a shard of Asuryan makes almost too much sense when you consider the shared phoenix symbolism and fate with Slaanesh. That Slaanesh chose a Primarch who goes by monikers such as "Palatine Phoenix" and "Phoenician" seems too coincidental _not_ to be a mockery of the Aeldari's loss of their Phoenix King by She Who Thirsts
@mobbofmobs89372 жыл бұрын
I have long considered the loyal primarchs to be originally based on the winds of magic from fantasy. In case you are unaware each wind of magic has a strong connection to a emotional/philosophy needed to use them. Such as the wind of heaven with planning and foresight, or fire magic being isit's opposite and being used by more impulsive people (like Vulcan). Furthermore the eldar sometimes state that their gods made them. It's possible that before the chaos gods we know now exist, that effectively far weaker gods based upon those the simple ideas were more prevalent. And as such simple "mutated" the eldar into what they are today. Afterwards the "died" and what you described happened.
@Sorain12 жыл бұрын
Now that would have really interesting possibilities to it, and would open up a way to bring back dead Primarchs (in a way) ala the Avatar of Khaine. (Which is summoned to life via sacrifice after all...) Plus it would give the Eldar something to hold over the Emperor's head to get him to help Isha out. (You're a barely living skeleton on life support, she's a goddess of life. Do the fething math as to why you should get that done.)

I've always found it interesting that the Old Ones created the Aeldari, but the Aeldari worshipped gods that were in their own image. Most real-life (admittedly human) religions worship their "creators." In one of his videos, Luetin described the Eldar gods as psychic weapons, given to the Eldar by the Old Ones, which would imply that the Eldari gods would exist regardless, with or without Aeldari worship, although it's probable that the god's power would be boosted by it. I have to wonder if Slaanesh is simply preventing the Eldar from accessing the gods. Also, Khaine was kind of an asshole, his relationship(?) to Khorne is part of that, but I wonder if there's a reason why the four (sometimes five?) Chaos gods are so much more powerful than other chaos entities, and if that reason has to do with the Old Ones using the warp in their warfare: Obviously the blood god is useful for war, but so is strategy (Tzench) and even disease (Nurgel.)
@lloydgush2 жыл бұрын
Slaanesh is probably one attempt to make another god that went very wrong. And they depend on worship to some extent, but are probably fed passively through eldari existence. But yeah, probably slaanesh prevents access to those gods and all ancestors. It's almost certain that those gods are made of ancestors, as that's basically how they are making ynead.
@davidgantenbein93622 жыл бұрын
The chaos gods are more powerful than others due to them feeding of very primal emotions, others are seemingly not able to devour similar amounts of psychic energy from mortals and hence are weaker. At least that is how I would read it.

It has been implied many times in current fluff that Slaanesh didn't or couldn't consume the ancient Aeldari gods. Instead they were all shattered like Kaine and their shards now rest in bodies/souls of all remaining Aeldari. This does raises interesting questions about Isha's 'rescue' by Nurgle. Since a shattered Isha could have helped make all Eldar immune or at least highly resistant to Nurgle's gifts. Though I also suspect Slaanesh had darker plans for Isha than here shattering. The Prince of Pleasure would not have left the a fertility goddess and supposed mother of not just the Eldar but all sapient races go un....used. Such outcomes the Grand Father would probably also want to prevent.
@40KTheories Жыл бұрын
What's your source on Slaanesh _not_ consuming the Aeldari Gods, out of curiosity? As page 31 of the 9th (and at time of writing, current) Aeldari Codex states outright that Slaanesh *slaughtered* the Aeldari pantheon and absorbed their power. The only instance detailing any god being shattered is in regards to Khaine, who was only shattered due to being too strong for Slaanesh to completely destroy.
@helline92 жыл бұрын
I think there should be a story arc of the rescue of Isha from Nurgle. Because Isha being the god of fertility, life, healing and the divine mother of the Aeldari species could be used to then reincarnate or rebirth the other Eldar gods, especially if Ynnead can direct souls intended for Slannesh to Isha. This rescue would need to be done by the Eldar manipulating many wars between Orcs & Tyranids and the Imperium & Chaos at the same time, from one end of the galaxy to the other (which is already happening). At which point the Eldar open giant ancient hidden Webway portals that where used to bring the suns & planets to Commorragh, in this case they are now used to throw planets full of Orcs and Tyranids directly at Papa Nurgle's face. (The path through the Webway being plotted by the Cegorach -the Laughing god for this very purpose) With Nurgle distracted by being suddenly pummeled by vast numbers of planets FULL of Orcs as well as the Tyranid fleet's 'Shadow in the warp' blinding him, the other Chaos gods quickly take the opportunity to also loot power from Nurgle for themselves, so they poor into his lands to attack & steal his power. So, now Nurgle is fighting several Tyranid tendrils, many Orc tides and the military forces of the Imperium all simultaneously in his garden, thrown there deceptively through ancient Webway portals of massive proportions, as well as Khorne/Slannesh/Tzeentch civil wars against him because they can. Its a all-in-brawl in the garden. …and all of it is just a distraction so the combined Eldar forces have a chance of running in, grabbing Isha and running of with her before Nurgle notices and have a chance of saving their species. (and yes this would imply that Cegorach sold out Isha to Nurgle in the first place with the intent to rescue her later. As being held by one of the other Chaos gods would be the only way to save her from Slannesh's hunger, yet without her specifically the Eldar could never regrow, thus he had to betray her to Nurgle to save all of them.)

There's some lore pointing towards Vaul also being alive & held by Nurgle, as for Isha, note how Grey Knights once tried to break into the garden to free her, but they failed. I do think GW is heading towards this gods ressurection, though I don't think they would be corrupt, the corruption you speak of is on human levels, I don't think that applies to gods. Very interesting theory on Eldrad, I would say, I would say Yriel might be another good god candidate.

What's the source for Vaul still being alive and for the Grey Knights attempting to free Isha? I can't recall those off the top of my head.
@sebastianrubio9282 жыл бұрын
@@40KTheories take it with a grain of salt, fairly sure I read it somewhere on Lexicanum while reading random eldar related stuff, the nurgle thing came from an old GK codex if I'm not mistaken and the Vaul thing was like a single sentence I read on lexicanum. I kinda trust that site, because they give sources generally, the problem is though: GW changes stuff, they retcon at times, while some stories are distorted on purpose. I tried to look for it, but couldn't find it. I don't think it's that farfetched to see GK fight in the garden of nurgle, as for the Vaul thing. Note how the lexicanum entry talks about this legend where Vaul created the spirit stones from Ishas tears. Where is Isha? In the garden, using that logic. Something else I remember, at the very end of the Valedor novel, the talk about the Rhana Dandra for a bit, about Ynnead freeing and/or leading the eldar gods to fight against chaos. If without concrete proof, I would say Vault very likely is still alive somewhere. I really wish I could find those source, I don't have the time to go through lexicanum for hours atm.

I think that Cegorach's long game is to reunite the Eldar kindreds, hence his people maintaining contact with all of them - in addition to their job being to make sure that no-one repeats the mistakes of the Fall. I believe that the consciousnesses of the old Eldar gods could still exist within Slaanesh, and that they could theoretically be liberated by killing Slaanesh. I also think that the original idea of Ynnead was as a god of the dead born when enough Eldar souls had gathered together within the protection of the Craftworld Infinity Circuits. I'm not sure what's going on now, but I would rather not have Ynnead be a mishmash of three gods, one of whom is apparently still alive. So ... well, Ynnead rising up and killing Slaanesh with the vengeance of millions of dead Eldar, freeing the gods and perhaps even themselves, that would be my preference. Other people will have others, of course!

I think it is not a matter of whether they can be extracted but rather how intact their concept is. How much that which is Slannesh can infiltrate the idea that is central to their being. And how much of that has been given out to empower others. As to the possibility of mortal avatars of the aldari gods...well, it would be prudent to seed such things when they realized they could not stand against Slannesh. Surely they have seen, and even commited, such actions in the past themselves. So having a contingency in place should a rival lay them low would just make sense.

I think it is an interesting theory, though I believe you are mistaken in choosing the Avatars of Khaine as living embodiment of Kaela Mensha Khaine instead of the Phoenix Lords. This comes from a reasoned belief that Avatars of Khaine are more akin to greater deamons, due to a number of shared properties, and my opinion that the Phoenix Lords being the living embodiments of Khaine would be more internally consistant with existing lore. It would mean that Yvraine would have two visions regarding the same event, rather than the two possible futures mentioned in wildrider. Lets start with why I believe it be more correct to consider Avatars of Khaine to be greater deamons. 1. While I admittedly can not find a concrete reference at the moment, I remember greater deamons of a given chaos god share a semiconsistent visual appereance, which was brought up in the video regarding Living saints being the Emperors greater deamons. Avatars of Khaine universally possess a body composing of molten metal with thick red gore dripping from the left (p.44 codex craftworlds 8th ed.). 2. The avatar of khaine universually wields the same weaponry, ie. wailing doom (p.44 codex craftworlds 8th ed.), which is a property shared by bloodthirsters of the same given rank (p.24 codex Khorne Deamonkin 7th.ed.). 3. The avatar is "Summoned to war through arcane rituals,...". Every aspect warrior on the craftworld partakes in this ritual, with the ritual emitting a psychic roar that echoes across the craftworld (p.44 codex craftworlds 8th ed.). 4. After the avatars purpose has been fulfilled, it returns to its inert state at the core of the craftworld. This could be caused by an effect similar to the one that banishes deamons, when they are unable to sustain their forms in realspace. Admittedly this correlation is circumstantial at best. On the other hand, the Phoenix Lords are stated as embodying aspects of Khaine, "Each Phoenix Lord founded one of the warrior shrines of the Asuryani, and is the embodiment of an aspect of the war god Khaine." (p.45 codex craftworlds 8th ed.). Assuming the Phoenix Lords to be the living embodiments of Khaine, will result in the two prophecies, regarding the possible rebirth of the Aeldari pantheon, coming to concern the same event. One prophecy heralds the birth of Ynnead, following the death of the Aeldari race, also known as the Rhana Dandra (p.24 Phoenix Rising). As part of the Rhana Dandra, Fuegan assembles the Phoenix Lords for the final battle (p.53 codex craftworlds 8th ed.), thus gathering the living embodiments of Khaine, alongside Eldrad and any other living embodiments of gods alive at the time, fulfilling Yvraine's vision from Wildrider.

They're more akin to demon possessions, since they are shards of a warp entity possessing a non biological substance, the iron like metal they're described as shows no sign of being natural and in all likelihood have a strong chance of just beign a statue dedicated to the war god rather than designed to house him. And as a warp entity it explains how the ritual awakens him, he's given the soul of a very powerful Eldar which is good fuel to fight.

@@oliverp3545 You make a valid point that the avatars of Khaine might be more consistent with deamonengines rather than greater deamons. My main issue with the Avatars being the living embodiments of Khaine is that their apparent nature as warp entities would mean that they are not as "living" as the other living embodiments mentioned in Wildrider. Namely Yvraine and Eldrad. The Phoenix Lords are closer in that aspect, and the shattering of Khaine would provide circumstantial evidence that Khaine would be embodied by multiple different individuals each embodying an aspect of the god. Compared to the singular individuals embodying the other gods.

If gods can be created by thought and deed in the 40k universe, given enough time any god could be recreated, in theory you could even create a double of a god that already exists although with slight differences due to the people doing the deed and thinking the thunk being from a different time their outcome would be abit different, perhaps this explains the 3 natures of their new god.

Quick Question: If Slaanesh slowly drains the spirits of the eldar that survived the fall ... and the new "coalescing" god/gods like Ynnead are made up of eldar spirits.... does Slaanesh also slowly steal the spirit force of the Ynnead or any other Eldar god they are creating?
@Ardelanin2 жыл бұрын
I believe that ynnead is made up from the psychic presence of the souls in the craftworlds or exodite worlds world spirits, that they are.. somewhat safe from this effect? however there is an argument to be made that because it's becoming condensed enough to take form (at least soon-ish) they could perhaps feel the pull of slaanesh.
@DinosaurEmperor842 жыл бұрын
Would they need to have survived in order to be restored? Cant the Aeldari just imagine that they'll resurrect for long enough for it to happen? isn't that how the warp works? Granted there aren't that many left to do it quick. But we are constantly told that the emperor is becoming a god in the warp simply because people believe he's one. What's to stop the Aeldari from believing their gods will return?
@Ardelanin2 жыл бұрын
I beieve with the emperor part of it is the continual increase in psychic potential of the human race. as for the aeldari, it's possible they are so regimented so as to survive that such... free? thoughts? would imediately invoke doom.

The rebirth of the Eldar gods is a theoretical way to get the 40k universe out of its grimdarkness; but would result in a new hegemony of the Eldar. So, the Imperium can't actually let it happen. Thus why the Deathwatch had to stop Eldrad when he was so close. Guilliman has Ultramar as his little empire. Would Guilliman even care if the Eldar ruled the galaxy so long as Ultramar is unharmed?

Can Gods truly die, or are they merely shattered as shown by both the C’tan and Khaine, or do they slumber with the Warp until they are awoken again, none can truly known how Gods die or are born.

Given that the Ynarri plotline was all but dropped following the poor reception of the Warhammer Fantasy Endtimes and the creation of Age of Sigmar, I don't hold out hope that GW will pick it back up anytime soon. Although the Craftworld codex (or united Aeldari codex, it seems?) is apparently coming next year, if the leaks are to be believed. So who knows?

Drat, I misread that. I thought it said "Birth". I have no idea where the Aeldari Gods came from originally. Was that ever explained in the lore? I could never find it back in the day.

"I watched as the First Ones encouraged the younger race to reach further into the other realm, and with their vibrant minds and passionate souls create beings of power to fight the star gods. But the battle was long and the First Ones were now few, and as their numbers dwindled, so too did their influence over their young creations. Without the wisdom and might of the First Ones to bind them, I saw the Elder's warp-beings evolve from sentient weapons into living gods - the first true gods of Immaterium. How I wept when the Elder embraced them as such. Time moved onwards and I saw the rise of the brother heroes, Eldanesh and Ulthanesh, who alone, in the absence of the First Ones, could control the Warp Gods and summon them onto the physical plane. I saw them march to war against the silver-skinned Yngir, the star gods and their slaves, and I saw them summon the dread lord Khaine, The Elder’s mighty god of war, to battle with them. I saw the brothers and their god lead their children into battle time and time again, pitting Chaos spawned furies against the soulless technologies of the Yngir. But in time, the boundaries between the gods of the Aethyr and the gods of the Stars blurred, and The Elder could not tell one from another. In their fury, the gods of the stars and the gods of the Aethyr turned upon each other, capturing or destroying those they could, and striking bargains with those they could not. I saw the forging of the Widow-Makers, the one hundred Swords of Khaine, and I watched the betrayal as one was stolen and hidden far away. I saw the end of shining Althanesh at the hands of the god of Death. I was witness to the final battle in which Khaine was almost split asunder by the destruction of that same Death God, and I saw how the endless warfare fanned the embers of Khaine’s fury, filling Him with power and driving Him into madness. Gripped by unquenchable rage, Khaine eventually turned against The Elder and slew prince Aldanesh. The numbers of the Chaos-beings grew, and all of them seemed mad and predatory. They seeped from the Empyrean in numbers that eclipse the legions of Chaos Wastes, and everywhere there was fire and torment." Liber Chaotica: Slaanesh Eldar Gods were psychic anti C'tan super weapons that gained sentience.

Supposedly, isn't Ynnead destined to slay Slaanesh and free all the souls of the Aeldari the Chaos God devoured? Maybe such an action would lead to the revival of the Aeldari Gods as well.

But - really any deity with living worshippers can be dead in Warp? As long as there are living creatures that fuel the idea of deity, it really can't die.
