Important correction at 4:53: As soon as you place a new workshop it is IMMEDIATELY activated. I will neglect to do this throughout the rest of this video.

Another excellent tutorial, Jon. The art in the center of the main board looks lovely. I'm glad you did this one as it is not getting a lot of coverage. This looks like a solid midweight Euro.

4:55 when you pay the cost to place the workshop tile you immediately receive whatever benefit it gives you, as well as having it available for future uses when you move the associated die. There are a few other instances of this as well.
@GettingGames4 жыл бұрын
Damn, somehow this one was missed by me and the publisher when they did their error checking. I'm adding a note to the Klingon subtitles now. Certainly bummed, that is a pretty big thing for me to miss.

At 29:38, I don't think yellow could drop from two recognition to zero in order to gain two money. There isn't a prestige mark at the zero space.
@GettingGames3 жыл бұрын
We had a discussion about this when we played and the rules just say you lower the prestige down so we assumed this is how it works. I haven't seen an official ruling otherwise, though you could be right.
@Noise-Maker4 жыл бұрын
That's looking good. Well done Tutorial. Seems the penalty scoring isn't meant to be a "take that" mechanism so much. This may work for us.
@АндрейИонов-ъ8э4 жыл бұрын
At 8:00 you say that if a player wants to take less resources he has to take the amount up to the number shown on the die. Where this rule is from? In the english rulebook it is said only that you can take less if you want without such limitation.
@GettingGames4 жыл бұрын
I said at that part that they could take less wood if they wanted, I agree you can take less with no restrictions in that moment.
@achimspies3804 жыл бұрын
I think around 30:50 you forgot to reroll the red die
@GettingGames4 жыл бұрын
Good catch, I did indeed forget to roll that die. I've added a note to the Klingon subtitles, thanks for pointing that out.

Say I have 3 banners out on uncompleted sections, am I able to use option "B" & place one resource on each card?

I'm trying to figure out these types of games. Which is more complicated, this or Castles of Burgundy?
@GettingGames3 жыл бұрын
I'd say CoB is more complicated than Red Cathedral. Lots more little rules to that one.

I really like the looks of this. How’d you feel about the game overall? Also, is there any reason you’d think a two player game would be less stellar than 3-4?
@GettingGames4 жыл бұрын
Honestly I haven't had a chance to actually play a full game of this. All I've done is read the rules for the 3p game and play through as much as the tutorial shows. This means I can't really give an accurate opinion on it at any player count right now. I can say that I'm quite excited to try it out after what I've seen making the video :)

I might have missed it, but I'm not sure you ever described the middle bonus action (between lose prestige for coins and spend coins to extend your dice movement). What does that do? Game looks very interesting!
@GettingGames4 жыл бұрын
I discussed it at 5:14, it lets you spend prestige to roll all the dice in any one market section.

@@GettingGames ah, okay, thank you Jon. I've watched several dozen of your videos and I'm not sure I can think of one unexplained detail yet. Your record is still perfect. ;)

Thanks for the great video Jon! For anyone that wants to try the game digitally, the publisher has made a Tabletop Simulator mod available for it. Just search the TTS workshop (steamcommunity.com/app/286160/workshop/) for "The Red Cathedral (Official)"

Good to know! I was planning on making my own mod, glad I don't have to do that now.

@@GettingGames DEVIR released TTS mods for a number of their games to allow people to try them out during awSHUX and Essen Digital. Full disclosure, I created and/or tweaked the mods for DEVIR. Not shilling, just trying to get the word out that they are available so everyone can enjoy them! You can see them all in my workshop if you follow the link from Red Cathedral.

Hey John, great video playthrough! Looks like a cool game :-) ! I am just wondering how the game works as a solo game. Could you please explain? Is it automa-based? Thanks.
@GettingGames4 жыл бұрын
I don't cover solo rules here, so I honestly haven't even read them for this game! They are in the published rules though, I'd say give this a watch and then read that part of the rules to see how it differs.
@spiozke4 жыл бұрын
What a weird set of rules. No thematic connection at all, but the game looks really interesting!
@hollowcow3 жыл бұрын
If you make a mistake, and continue to make that mistake throughout, isn't the value of the tutorial greatly compromised? Should Devir get a kickback?
@GettingGames3 жыл бұрын
It is quite unfortunate, but I do everything I can to make sure mistakes are as visible as possible so that the video still teaches the game correctly. If an error is big enough that it breaks the overall flow of the game then I do take it down and do massive fixes (or re-film the whole thing) depending on the situation. I hope Devir is still happy with this as a tool for showing people how the game plays as well as what it feels like to play.
