This looks like the West Kingdom game I’d most like to get! Interestingly I think there’s a fair bit of overlap here with Endless Winter, which is currently on KS; nice to see these hybrid deck builder/worker placement style games coming out.

Occasionally I find a channel that has a "better" presentation or fancy graphics but in the end, I always return here. Consistency and your vast library make this my go-to Channel for learning games.

I believe this is my first comment on one of your videos. Been watching your videos for last year or so, Great stuff Jon. For a newer gamer like me, very helpful. I enjoy watching video playthroughs of board games, I appreciate how transparent you are too with your monthly Vlogs, lots going on, even sharing personal info. Another excellent video, I love this trilogy of games and this is my favorite. Quick observation, 45:45 red player (you) drew back up to your hand limit size. Then on your next turn, 50:15, The Trader you drew is gone. Thank you for all you do. You have spurred on and ignited my board game passion/ hobby.

I believe the “dismiss the face up Townsfolk Card” (p. 14) can only be done if the one of it’s icons match the action you are choosing. The play through seems to suggest this condition is not necessary.

I’m confused about the manuscript cards costing 6 that has a symbol below a solid line. One shows 1 each of the 3 buildings, another shows 2 manuscripts on it. I didn’t see any description for this effect? Can anyone please help?

Love your videos! A small thing, at 26:30, the yellow player recruits the townsfolk for 1 coin, but it doesn't show payment for the card. It looks like later yellow has 5 coins, which is the correct amount (started with 10, minus 1 for movement, minus 3 for card dismissal, and minus 1 for recruiting the card), but you might want to note it.

This was a great, instructive playthough, thank you! Any thoughts on how well it plays at 2? This is on my Christmas list, and it will be just my husband and I playing for the foreseeable future until the plague eases up.

I have played this one at 2 once and it was enjoyable. It was certainly faster than the 4p game I played, though it did seem like there was less going on since there are only 2 players potentially causing collisions and only one opponent to worry about when it comes to the debt / deed race.

Is the immediate card effect optional? In the rule book it says twice you immediately resolve the effect but on page 17 it states “if they wish to take advantage of it” - which is it?

I believe they are optional due to the wording on page 17.

26:32 You stated that you may shuffle your discard pile back into your deck. I thought that this was a mandatory action and had to be done. I know that rearrange, Discard and Destroy are all optional. And All other actions are mandatory. Great play through though. Discovered that there was a couple of things that I was doing wrong.

I think my personal ranking at the moment is Viscounts, Paladins, Architects, then Raiders. I haven't disliked any of them though.

Incredible job explaining a pretty complex game with a really crappy rulebook! You answered all my questions and I feel much better about playing this game now. The one thing that's still unclear is when you recruited a card and then added it to your discard pile, you used the icons, and the effect in the upper right-hand corner, but you never took the bottom action EVEN when it was a lightning bolt/instant effect. Why?

At 52:55, does Blue player get a drop off effect for Bertha?

No, Bertha's ability triggers when she enters play (see the lightning symbol on her card). A drop off effect only occurs if the card has a 'X' symbol.
