59:35 "There was a hole here, it's gone now." is a mystery that the community has gone on about for ages. My interpretation is that another SH protagonist jumped down a hole here at some point, but now it's vanished. Not terribly in depth, but I like that Reggie recognizes how ominous this message is.
@BareBandSubscription2 жыл бұрын
I always just thought it was some deranged, cryptic shit that was meant to be taken very literally. Somehow, a hole was there and now it’s gone. It’s the idea of an absent absence. It creates a weird sort of cognitive dissonance, like any clear understanding of that idea is completely elusive. That was my initial gut response to it. The question of who wrote it is also just very eerie. I hope whoever came up with that text at Team Silent got a raise or something, because it’s so perfectly unsettling, it’s actually kind of genius.

I like the theory I heard that it's a metaphor for feeling an emptiness, but you fill it with alcohol, so the hole becomes "gone." Since it's a bar, it makes sense. Side note but I've been having a lot of fun taking this quote out of context to the point where it became a meme between my friend and I, and he doesn't even know much about Silent Hill lol. I feel like this one has a lot of emotional maturity and depth that a lot of games - even the other games in the series - simply don't have. The series' reference point in film is always Jacob's Ladder, and I think SH2 stands opposite that movie in terms of how well it talks about death and grieving and acceptance of those things, and the long, difficult journeys through them. I also don't think I've ever seen anything else in a game that's as utterly heartbreaking as Angela's final scene and how it plays on our hopes and expectations for how we as players want things to go.

Silent Hill 2 is good because you can know all the key points of the plot, and honestly you can pretty much guess what's going on by the hospital, and still get blown away by actually experiencing things. I'm going to comment on stuff as it happens, though. A game that starts with your player character staring in the mirror is never a good indication of their state of mind. But James is probably fine! Sucks that Mary died from Anime Mom Disease. She didn't even get the chance to get a kid, like Harry's wife. Real bad luck. I like how the map fits together. Do you think that North and South Silent Hill have a rivalry? I love the fact that on the walk to Silent Hill you can hear footsteps that aren't yours. And when you stop the footsteps stop too, like they were following you and trying to stop when you notice them. The conversation with Angela is interesting. I like the insight that it gives you into James. James seems distracted from the conversation, really stuck in his own head. But I feel like he makes an effort to be social. He doesn't just blow people off. I think James is, at heart, an okay guy.

Dude the 2D type fucking sucks. The camera switches around on you all the time so
@Reiveth2 жыл бұрын
I gotta say the free movement is so much better than the tank controls for navigation, and it doesn't really make the combat any less threatening, you still have to deal with the combat controls and monsters still have the ability to get you even if you think you're going to juke them.

Ever since the LP and then Woolie doing his own LPs I was hoping he'd get to this and now it's here. Reggie knows nothing at all. Let's fucking go dude

The best random message in history of random game messages. "There was a HOLE here. It's gone now. Man, after not watching for awhile, binging Woolie and Reggie's adventures through Silent Hill is a nice feeling. It's also a real pallete clenser because a like a year and a little ago a couple of my friends said they had fun watching this Vtuber (I got friends like that, yeah) so I got curious, saw "Oh, she did SH2" and I couldn't make it through the first VOD, like I understand why people are being mad at "zoomers" I felt just mad at mistreatment of the game for all the wrong reasons.

I still think SH2 is the best horror game of all time. Undefeated.

Nah. _Silent Hill_ is horror; _Silent Hill 2_ is a depression trek.

Can't help be appreciate the noise opening the gate reminds me of resident evil games with the doors 😬😄

10:15 - Yeah, noise on: James' polygons look 'too perfect' otherwise. Need to Geralt-live-action him a little.

I kinda wish they had brought Pat into this play through so he could drop the game history

A Pat cameo would have been cool. Still got his LP though.

I do kinda wonder why they don't do more LP's together; the RE2make LP was a blast.

Pat would have spoiled too much I think. I can see him over explaining silent hill concepts and annoying Woolie and Reggie.

They probably do a spoilercast

@@mattybuttersableAs much as I love Pat that would be a genuine concern. Hence why I said cameo above. We would benefit from a sprinkling of Pat, not a whole serving. "It's so subtle" Pat would say as we enter perhaps the least subtle room in a video game literally ever.

Oh man, perfect place for the video end. Such an iconic line.

That's a quick turnaround Woolz. I just purchased this game yesterday. I hope I can deal with those control scheme though.

Here we go! My favorite Silent Hill. Hopefully this port is good. So much symbolism in this game.
