I think this is the most beautiful and satisfying ending for them.. this drama is based on a true story, although the details were unknown, but these two did exist in Joseon era and they did love each other.. their love story was beautiful yet tragic, because in real life they only had 6 years of married life together (despite knowing each other almost all their lives), and all her kids died when they were young and one of them died with her in her womb.. 🥺🥺🥺 the king did love her so much that he planted 26,000 flowers around her grave (hence the flower reference?), and he was the only Joseon king who professed his love openly by writing and epitaph for her when she passed away.. she was only 33.. historically, the king died in his sleep for an unknown reason (he was 47), so that’s probably why the writer and director decided to create this beautiful dream sequence.. we can only hope they somehow had their own true happy ending.. 🥰🥰🥰

I’ve just finished watching the red sleeve and the ending got me thinking about how this whole scene could be a space between living and death as a time when Yi San was truly happy , you hear Deok-Im countless times telling Yi San he needs to go back they need him I think Deok-im was trying to tell the king that it weren’t his time yet maybe expecting him to once again choose the people over her which she knew he would have to as King but I think Yi San decided to finally pick his happiness over the throne and chose to crossover so he could live eternal happiness with Deok-im his one and only love. This is just my thoughts I could be completely wrong but it had that vibe to me I truly love this drama and the storyline and I’m glad Deok-im and Yi san came back to each other

​​@@KIQ0000 this is a real life story on the lives of King Jeongjo (Yi san) and Sung Uibin(Sung Deok Im). They both saw each other when they were children and were soulmates. She was the court maid who worked in his mother's palace and during the coming of age ceremony he asked her to be his concubine but she denied it since his wife Queen Hyoi did not have any kids, it would be inappropriate for them. So he waited for 15 years( as far as I know) and then she became his concubine. He could have forced her to become his or punished her to deny his favour , since she is a court lady and he is the crown prince . But he waited for her and respected her decision. They were both together for 6 years having 2 kids , one being Crown Prince Munhyo and another being a girl who died some days after she was born. She died months after her son Munhyo died from measles with her unborn baby. So it's a tragic ending to a great love story. Jeongjo became the first Joseon King to confess his love for her on her epitaph. And on that epitaph he has considered her as his concubine/wife for twenty years, even though they both were together for six years. After seventeen years of his reign he died and according to the series in this scene he is either in his dream , in his past or he is dying and he is with his love Deok I'm which happens to be his heaven . There is a significant thing which happened in this scene. Deok im took the initiative of kissing Yi san showing that he is now hers , not as the king , not as a son, not as a father but as her one and only lover/husband. When she became a concubine she knew that she will never get Yi san as whole .1:37

@sarahabraham6462 I think this is the first time she makes the first move to hug and kiss him - maybe that's her way of telling him she loves him. All this while, she did love him but kept her freedom to herself, and only responded to his first moves...but now that everything is over and San has got the chance to choose and has finally chosen her and them, she loudly proclaims her love for him. Even though it's just a gentle hug and kiss, to someone as strong yet fragile as deok im, it's a loud statement. And San understands this and Immediately smiles fully rejoicing in deok im's love :) this is just my interpretation

Coucou ! je viens de terminer The Red Sleeve et c'est juste ... waouh ... sublime 🤩. J'ai adoré cette histoire. Un drame historique qui, pour moi, est un peu différent des autres drames que j'ai vus, un peu plus sombre, violent, en paroles et en geste, mais aussi très sensible et sincère. L'interprétation des acteurs est magistrale, tout en finesse et subtilité, une mention spéciale pour la prestation du roi Yeongjo. La musique est super aussi. J'ai vraiment passé un merveilleux moment en regardant cette série. Merci à tous 😉🥰

It is basically the writer's pray for the actual King Jeongjo and Lady Sung😅. Despite their horrible situation whe they was alive, the writer's hope they have a good ending afterlife. After considering for a while, I think the reason why deok im never said I love you always or such kind of words is because we never know is that king Jeongjo's love actually reciprocated or unrequited till the end😅

I read the real history in online. His queen was married to him at the age of 9.(his age 10) and she has no child. So Deok um's son became the crown prince. If we stop the story here this is the happy ending we want. but in real her son the crown prince died at the age of 6 (in some articles they mentioned at the age of 3). After four months of his son's death she also died with the child in her womb. Her another daughter also already died. In addition his another concubine also died at the age of 14. Eventhough I afrid it maybe disrespectful to the ancient people, I can't think it's just co incidents at all. We don't know She died from liver cancer or her misery of losing children continuously. The crown prince's death can be a political dirty game. Because after her death also queen has no child. Only the other concubine's(not the died one) son became the crown prince. It maybe because the vengeance of king towards queen for losing his love and children. I know I am writing a novel here. But I can't help with my mind to not think this way at all.

Yes she died at young age while pregnant due to liver cancer. The King lived for a couple years after, but died in his sleep. This is a historical story based on true events. but ofc this is a fictional drama they might spice it up with romance. The crew just added an after live clip where the two final could reunite by death 😢

given all the buzz about this kdrama, I watched it but it felt it was partly disappointing....The plot and the characters' conflict was weak compared to other historic period kdramas like "Empress Ki", "Dong Yi", and "The King's Affection"....I really sympathized with the King (Lee Jun Ho) for he was a good mad, who was true to his feelings and not a womanizer by all means....he cherished court lady Sung Deok Im for very long time, and his love was tested many times....I don't see eye to eye with the reserved feelings of Deok Im, and how she cherished her court lady life & friends, especially that such life and friends is not as strong as claimed....in all cases, bravo to Lee Jun-Ho for his good acting skills. :)

i see what you're saying, the palace conflicts were reduced by a lot in this drama, but i found that quite refreshing. as for doekims feelings, they are indeed quite complicated. the drama tried showing that and succeeded too, but we as viewers do feel that she was perhaps a bit too cold to the king when he confessed profusely to her so many times. The drama ain't perfect, but it's very, very beautiful for sure 😊
