For people that don't know the story...this is the Wings JLA horn. The horn used gases no longer legal in buildings and they found a way to make it work without those said gases. So the sound is slightly different. Also LCA will have massively different acoustics to JLA.

If I were a Red Wings fan, I would be happy. All indication seems to be that an exact, one-for-one replica of the JLA goal horn is just not possible. If they were somehow able to move the old horn to the new arena, I've read multiple times that the acoustics in LCA are so massively different from JLA that no one would be able to hear it. They've done the best they can. A real horn is better than a garbled recording, and the classic Red Wings goal horn that uses compressed air and sounds a little different, is better than another Tampa Bay Lightning horn clone, which half the league uses.

After looking it up, it seems like the new horn for this season is actually closer to the original horn used in JLA, before the one we're accustomed to from the mid-90's and beyond. It's a lower octave but it's almost exactly the same note with the same the blast sequence.

The media obliviously lied. It’s not the same model or the chord. The horn at the Joe was a Buell Reed Trombone. The new one is a Kahlemberg T3-383 , different model and manufacture. I’m glad the wings got a new horn but the old one was what made Detroit, Detroit ! Hope they can figure out to tone it down so we don’t have to sound like Florida or Atlanta. I get the “they can’t use the old one because of updated safety code” but I’ve seen plenty of people owning Buell Reed horn even some were ready to give it to the Red Wings…without requiring nitrogen so why did the organization lie about it ?
