I love how meta this reality bending show can get sometimes, like he’s just admitting that they hired background actors to save money.

For all the talk about how much money he spends/saves, it seems like this show would be super-cheap to produce by HBO standards. Renting a house in Oregon for...2 months? Building bar and apartment sets? Pretty standard stuff, and the apartment was very mocked-up. The non-union actors couldn't have been very expensive, either.
@ArizonanSummer2 жыл бұрын
That said, allegedly it was more expensive to build the fake bar than it would have been to build a fully functional real
@juannaym84882 жыл бұрын
I mean, the fake winter was probably pretty expensive

I'm sure the actual reason for hiring union extras was because it's more funny that they can't speak.

you must know better than him about HBO standards

The joke is that Nathan has no problem spending an exorbitant amount on building a replica of the bar (also transport it across the country), while being incredibly tight with the background actors.

Wait, but they bought the license for the notoriously expensive proper'' Happy Birthday'' song

I believe that one might be public domain now, as of a couple years ago
@puffpuffpassmako Жыл бұрын
@@PaintraSeaPea WB no longer owns the rights because a federal judge overturned it years ago. Something along the lines of it being a national tradition, and by law those can't be copyrighted. WB basically got involved with a judge they couldn't bribe, since that's how they got the trademark through in the first place

Nathan finds himself in a hard predicament. He had asked " what am I doing wrong" , when the answer is simple. Reality doesn't have do overs, and to fix a probpem you don't have the time to run back through the events that took place to try and change that events course for the future. But he does find himself in a good spot too. He clearly wants to be a dad and have a family. But doesn't know what it'll be like. I think, with the way remi loves Nathan, that Nathan finds himself in a spot where he could potentially really become remis STEP dad, become a father and who knows maybe have a blood child of his own. Those two clearly have a bond and is an even cooler situation because remi doesn't really have a real dad. So Nathan in theory could love the shit out of the kir who loved him as THE way to fix the issue he created

Everyone goes to attachment issues (me too). Someone said on reddit that Remy could still experience it when his mom dates other people but what happens if they break up? Im just glad Nathan was concerned about how Remy felt about him. In showbiz, TV parents do still connect with their TV kids if both parties still want to( or in this scenario, at least for the kid). I think Nathan knows he has a responsibility to check on Remy occasionally from now on (not necessarily to marry Amber, I think I read somewhere Nathan is having a romantic relationship with someone) until Remy can meet other father figures till he won't miss Nathan that much.

If they speak they now have lines and have to be payed as actors and not background actors.
@fulltimeslackerii82292 жыл бұрын
union rules prevent them from speaking? why do extras need a union? they are literally supposed to just stand in the background and do nothing. they need a union to make sure they aren’t overworked?
@eliudmedellin6712 жыл бұрын
It means the union get the extras an “actor paycheck” if they have any dialogue lines, and the union gets a fee from every paycheck, extras lives matter lol
@ShaunCloudSwain2 жыл бұрын
Not so much that the union prevents them from speaking, but rather, if an extra were asked to speak, the union would demand the actor be paid to reflect the change from 'extra' to 'featured extra.' Otherwise, if you're hired as a non-speaking extra but the director last minute says "hey we need you to say some short lines here," you are being ripped off.
@speedfastman Жыл бұрын
Unions don't just exist to make sure people aren't overworked. :p
