I mean to be fair, the entente also “invaded” Russia after WW1 in real life despite being exhausted as well. Invading a country doesn’t necessarily mean drafting the entire population and sending them over there, it could’ve been a relatively small combined task force of sorts. Especially in this era when China was not really a unified nation with a strong central government, you probably don’t need a huge army to establish your influence there. Invading the US is a different story though. I don’t see that as a likely scenario.

Nah, that would honestly be a rather average hoi4 game. Unless there's a scripted peace most wars last until the complete capitulation of one side or the other, with major countries being the focus. Players can also archive great results against the AI.

If they allowed france to fall they would be sure to expect a germany that was strong enough to make britain run for the bank trying to spend money to protect their naval dominance. there were probably other factors to but this one I just remembered the most.

The British Army in 1914 was the smallest of the major powers (so we're comparing against Germany or Russia, not Denmark or Andorra). They didn't have even one million troops, let alone several millions. The existing BEF had to hold the Germans back, during which time they took horrendous casualties, before the freshly trained troops could arrive to tip the balance.

well this is nice and all but the reason why germany help austria was because they had a treaty with austria to help in a war and if they didn't honor that that would have destroyed german reputation. it was a case of you hope to win a war or no one will ever believe germany in future treaties
