This was a very fun and informative video! Glad we finally have an actual rush history video now

Thanks, glad you liked it! I've been firing my cylinders at Duel Links recently, but I am slowly starting to work on the script for the next video in this series. Unfortunately, I didn't play as much during that period, so researching and putting together the script/narrative will probably take a while.

I am glad that, on basically release in Duel Links, they limited the usage of several cards alongside Dragias that would make it basically unstoppable...

For sure! Dragoncaster decks are still quite prevalent, but Duel Links has a surprising amount of deck variety.

I probably sound like a weirdo when I say this. But I really do resonate with Yuga's sentiment for the card game. I really wanted to like Yu-Gi-Oh, and I especially did when I was younger. I understand that people want to run these super crazy combos to win the game and that's fine. I have no issue with that. But with a simplified meta and problem solving text, rush duels is really great. You kind of just pick up the card game, and if you have a basic understanding of Yu-Gi-Oh, it's pretty simple. I think it's a game that Yugi Boomers could try and actually enjoy. I would love some actual American support for this game besides duel links.

I'm hoping we see an English release of Rush some day as well, though I do worry whether it can manage to be a big success. There are dedicated fans, but I've seen a lot of negative sentiment towards Rush online, which makes me sad. On the other hand, it's a bit odd to know Sevens got a dub without the accompanying card game release to market it. There must be a ton of kids on the playground that want to summon Sevens Road! If Rush got released and could garner a similar community to Pokémon that appeals to the younger crowd, it would be great!

Honestly, modern YGO is kinda like an addiction that you get hooked if you followed it along starting from a recent year. I wouldn't change it for any TCG or format, but I do enjoy Edison and some alt formats, so agree that Rush could be more appealing to returners. Hope they don't go crazy & turn it into the TCG or floodgates don't become strong. I think it could be a good alt format if managed well.

Crazy how the first Tier 0 deck of the game was made just by mashing together the Good stuff from the Yuga v Luke Box Set, getting a couple more Dragias/7RM and slapping in a random Blue-Eyes or Trap Hole hahaha.

Yeah. On the one hand, I think it is great the starter decks provide truly useful cards that make a good entry point for the game. On the other, letting it be an undisputed dominant force for so long is probably not ideal. I believe Dragias should have been 2000 attack, which would let it still provide massive value when attacking twice, but also allow for Fire Guardian, a vanilla 1 tribute, to win over it. Similarly, I would have given Yamiruler stats along the lines of 1800/2300, solidifying its role as a defensive unit and giving Max Raider an actual niche. This balances out a couple of problem cards while also providing value to vanilla monsters. Lastly, just delete Dark Revelation from the game and Spellcasters are fine.

I would love more rush history videos like this if you're interested in doing them

Thanks for the feedback. I do think this is one of the better videos on the channel overall. I started scripting a sequel a while back, but ran into issues with finding primary sources. I wasn't actively playing at that point, and the game is not popular outside of Japan. I might be able to do it someday, but the deep dive research unfortunately doesn't fit into my life's schedule right now.
@mobileshaman2364Ай бұрын
@FrogFlowerTroupe That's completely understandable. It can be a tall order to make something for such a niche, especially when information is hard to come by. Still, if you decide to make more on the irl game, you'd have one person willing to watch

The background music was good. In light of all this, I'm curious to see how duel Links will release some of these cards. Nail in the anime made cyberse monster seem decent 😅

Duel Links definitely did take measures to stop a Tier 0 Dragoncaster pile with the Limit 3 on Torna and the conspicuous absence of Curtain of Sparks (and The Other Trap). Nail is going to be an interesting case. They'll almost certainly have some kind of Providence Draw or other skill that makes it easier to summon Yggdrago, but they'll also need to introduce several counters alongside it. As it currently stands, most decks apart from Dragons would struggle to consistently out a 4k wall, which could lead to Yggdrago becoming a gatekeeper deck to what is viable.

Thsi is super interesting i was looking for a paper route since i was gettin interested in tush duel in duel links so i wa tes to know what is the meta in ocg

The card pools are a bit different (e.g. no Dark Revelation in Duel Links), but it looks like several of the key cards of early Rush Duels are making an impact on the meta, such as Dragias. The introduction of Skills have boosted other cards signifiicantly, though. Dragonic Slayer wasn't all that great in the paper game, but the Dragonic Resonance skill has turned it into a key card for the best deck in Duel Links.

@@FrogFlowerTroupe and DR is a powerful card yes they didn't add to much background options and people are starting to point out that the game is slow and boring but I guess it's because Konami want to keep the power creep in line and go slow so maybe the most powerful archetype are gonna have to wait until being released.

@@manurr5287 For the most part, I like the way they are handling Duel Links. Including Dragias was a mistake, but they also can't exclude a main character's ace in the anime roleplaying game. seeing dragonic slayer and ancient arise dragon get glow-ups has been nice, though I wish they managed to do something better for Voltcondor

That's a good question. I know what era I plan to cover next, but it takes a long time to research it all, write the script, edit, etc. Realistically, the answer is probably that I'll work on it when Rush Duel Links stuff is in a break period (i.e. they're doing some Speed Duel events or whatever).
