The Reign of Kindo - Breathe Again

Yo! I just stumbled upon this band one day while I was on last.fm, and I liked the way they sounded, so I decided to get their album. The album was great and after listening to it, I think that this is my favorite song. It's pretty dark, but the overall sound combined with the lyrics of the song create a nice final product. This song has been on repeat for me for two days now. At first i was sedated by the vocals and the atmosphere it creates. Then I couldn't stop laughing when I read the lyrics. I got punked hahahaha. Such a great song.

I will not be your judge because you chose what you felt was the right thing to do so your children were not hurt by one more person making (a choice that he paid for dearly). Really it's just a descent into madness, it almost has nothing to do with the dude taking his kids' presents. Just listen to how the meaning of "breathe again" changes throughout the song. By the end it is almost manic.

@methosofgondor One more thought. Most poems can be taken in more than one way. That is not to say that one way or another is better. It could be that one person sees one thing and someone else sees something totally different. I've been in poetry classes where people saw things so different in the same poem that it was staggering. @themulberrystealers I can tell you that none are. That's just pure natural talent. A couple of them took lessons when they were younger and one took a semester of music theory, but that's it. Kelly, the old keys player and the one playing in this song, just left the band to study music in Boston. Their new keys player is no slouch either.

@malikamakamuki You could be right, but I did say that my thoughts were just a theory. Having said that however I just don't think this piece can be taken at face value. It's like reading poetry. You can just read it and say "that's a nice poem", or you can read it more than once and start to see what the author is really saying. I could be wrong in my analysis but I don't think this song is what it seems to be on the surface. Within it are clues to what it is that they are talking about.

@EvilJamJar; Explain, please. Not sure what U mean. I think it's extreemly well writen and composed. The words might be disturbing to some but then again it's no diferent than watching a murder movie or reading a murder novel. Like a comment I read put it, a song like this gets people talking and thinking on social issues, not like the bubble gum garbage the radio floods us with. Bottom line, these guys are pretty damn good as musicians, storey tellers, poets, etc.

No. Someone broke in his home and stole his children's Christmas toys. He tracks him down and kills him, stuffs his body in his trunk, takes his kids toys back to them and then goes and dumps the thief''s body in the river. I'm assuming the thief stole the toys to give to his children. Now the thief's kids have no toys and no father.

Keeping the bands Christian beliefs in view, the father in the story could be God the Father taking vengeance on the thief who has stolen his children's innocence and the sorrow that has been inflicted on His children. Roman 12:19 "Vengeance is mine; I will repay saith the Lord." Just a theory. I can't know what they are trying to say.
