every drowned god is,well,the god of their own layer. Meaning that their destruction ( or in this case separation from their own layer) would result in said layer's timespace continuum to be destroyed. The kyrsan ritual somehow forced ethiron to keep a physical form in order to stay within his layer,however forcing it into a time loop. By destroying his scion (= his physical form,and his only contact with the layer because of said ritual),we separate the layer from the god. By this deduction,we can assume that the sceal placed by the kyrsans upon ethiron was made to kind of control ethiron/force him within physical bounds. By doing so,however,the Kyrsan people effectively caused a time loop,in which maybe ethiron is trying to rewing time to prevent all of this,but in his weakened state is unable to fully do so? If yun'shul were also removed from layer 1,what would happen?

The Scion of Ethiron. It's named Scion for a reason! The temporal vortex artifact is a combination of multiple pieces found from time distorted areas! The eternal gale itself entirely collapsed but due to time shenanigans you are able to go back into it and do it again! The eternal gale isn't really the cause of the time distortion! Everything you said about the ritual IS right as you are pretty much DOING the ritual but you did it wrong which made ethiron become more awake due to his "Heir" being attacked! Also SCION can mean successor/vessel in some instances!
