Exactly! I gave myself a writing assignment of “write LORE not WORLDBUILDING” (aka: what the people think happened vs. what did) and I choose Undertale as the base as we don’t know the human side of history. While writing, the speaking character: Dahlia, rooted herself in the backgrounds of both Clover and Frisk. To Clover she was a close friend, something akin to family, and they met while Clover was researching the missing humans. As for Clover’s family, it was the classic nuclear family: a dad, a mom, a younger sister, him, plus and uncle. The first crack in their family was was loss of their dad. The mom took it badly and her actions often ended in Clover and the mom fighting. The next and final one was when Clover left. While Clover traveled through the Underground, on a quest to find out what happened to the other humans, remembering his family in the little things, his family falls apart. Mom: she falls deeper, blaming Dahlia as the last person to see Clover, generally becoming an unpleasant person Uncle: dives into his work, and feels guilty for never fulfilling his brother’s last wish Sister: she deals, moves in with her uncle, and tries to move on Dahlia: having her only anchor in life disappear, she reached for anything to steady herself. Mimicking Clover in a spiral that lasted years and had lasting effects. I could go on and on, but this is a KZbin reply, so I’ll end it there.

INSANE ABOUT THIS!!! BSJWHODHSKXJSHXHW Undertale Yellow has single-handedly made Flowey one of my favourite characters of all times, and I think his relationship with Clover (and especially the way you portray it here) is such a fascinating one! We all know that Flowey is a walking (crawling? Slithering?) tragedy; he's so far disconnected from everything and everyone, of course he's lonely! And he makes it worse by being the most manipulative plant in existence! Despite being apparently very sociable, Clover is also isolated. Be it because they're a human, because of their background (which, judging by the hints we get in the game, wasn't the greatest) or simply because Flowey orchestrated things to be this way, they are a lonely child on a lonely mission. And I love love love the idea of the two of them being lonely together! Go crazy, you two! Go stupid! Betray and manipulate and say ambiguous things to make us wonder whether or not you're genuine friends! I really like the motion and emotion (haha) you gave to this! I'm gonna chew on it for the next couple of hours, thanks!

NAWWW UR RIGHT 😭 I’d like to think Clover always knew Flowey was suspicous but tried to ignore it because only Flowey stayed with him (even the last person he saw before he died) when others left. Like when Toriel left after Clover fell and Martlet after the boat crashed, Flowey was like “ayo wassup bro, pretty sure them jerks aint showing anytime soon so lets skidaddle.” He even MADE a badge shaped like a clover for Flowey, idk why but that scene will always be stuck in my head.

Heya!! Sorry to ask, but would you mind talking about those hints in the game? I haven’t played the game yet (and don’t know if I can in the foreseeable future lol), but I’d love to see this aspect of them so I can analyze them further. They really are just a kid, and that gets left by the wayside by a lot of monsters who don’t consider that when they think about Clover’s actions, and I like how that gets explored a bit in game even though I haven’t seen too much of it. @inkterstellar Sure - when you're in the Wild East there's a part where the narrator says that clovers favorite channel is static, and later on its implied he did all the cooking at home and was basically neglected. I also chose to interpret the fact that he was very willing to sleep with the Feisty Five and to give up going to the surface entirely to stay with martlet (even if you don't choose the option, the choices presented appear to be the ones that Clover was thinking of anyways) as him basically having very few real ties to the surface and finding them in the Underground. It also kind of works with the whole idea of a kid falling down knowing that it's dangerous just for the sake of 'justice' - doesn't this sound more like a lonely kid raised by cowboy movies than one with a strong friend group that would be worried if he was gone for that long? Theres a reddit post on the undertale sub that talks more about his potentially abusive home life ([MAJOR UNDERTALE YELLOW SPOILERS] Clover's Past) but my interpretation kind of extends this a bit. Also, if you find even a bit of time, play the game - it's so good, the closest thing to an undertale 2 (or I guess 0.5?) that we have right now!

I like to believe that at the end of the true pacifist route of the OG Undertale, after Clover and the other 5 human children's souls got maybe or maybe not revived, Clover went all the way back at the start of the ruins where Asriel is and gives him a big hug forgiving him despite the horrible things he did to them as a poor traumatized flower back then as our precious goat boi cries because both of them deserve a heartwarming reunion 😊

i mean theres a general fan theory that the humans were possibly revived after asriels fight, considering the fact that the coffins were full and then at the end they were all suddenly open and the bodies were gone too (and wrappings being left at the bottom of the coffin/s), and also knowing the fact asriel took everyones (except napstablooks lol) souls and returned them including the human ones then maybe they somehow moved onto some kind of afterlife or they were bought back to life

Neutral Routes really need to get some JUSTICE, while PACIFIST can literally split in two endings. NEUTRAL and GENOCIDE only has one variant.
