In this video, Chad demonstrates the Remington 700 project that has been the bane of his existence for over six years. The only stock component left is the old receiver from a factory AAC-SD model, the rest replaced with quality products over the years from PT&G, ‪@krgofficial3382‬ ,‪@LeupoldOptics‬ , ‪@kgmsuppressors‬ ,‪@Spuhrvision‬, ‪@CriterionbarrelsInc‬, and more in its current configuration.

I bought a Remington 700 SPS tactical in 308 back in 2011 and it is one of the most accurate rifles I own. I hand load 168 A Max with 4895 and it consistently shoots 1/4-1/2 inch groups depending on me. I ended up putting it in a magpul hunter stock and timney trigger. Love that rifle. I just had it threaded and put a banish 30 suppressor on it.

Nice! I have an old Model 700 and about 15 years ago I started to trick it out. All that's left as original is the barrel (sporter) and the bolt/receiver. It was a fun project that took me about 5 years to complete. Not nearly as nice as yours, but with my handloads that sucker always shoots less than 1" and if I have a really good day it's around .5". I love that rifle, it was a fun project and I'm glad to see you took one to the next level. Very cool. My favorite thing to do with my rifle is take it the range and throw a bunch of clay pigeons out on the 620 yard berm and see how many in a row I can break.

I've got an old 700bdl in 30/06 and it would shoot 150 grain Remington core lok bullets in exactly one inch group at 100 yards. This is not good enough for me so I saved 100 brass and then reloaded that fireformed brass with the bullet seated thirty thousands off of the lands and the groups went down to single jagged hole at 100 yards everytime I did my part right. I always let them barrels cool off for 15 minutes between shots to let them barrels retract from the heat and get a true reading from a cold bore. This is the hardest part of accuracy testing, but it gives me all the confidence in the world when I am hunting.

I have a 700 AAC-SD 308. Still has factory action and barrel. I put it in Manners T5A stock and replaced the trigger with a Huber Concepts 2 stage 2.5 lb trigger. This rifle shoots great with Berger 185 grain bullets, the juggernaut, or the hunting VLD. Shoots them both equally great. Consistently hit 12" gongs at 1200 Meters. The Huber trigger is incredible, try one, you won't regret it.

Great shooting! One thing I've found is match chambers will give you better velocity as well. One gunsmith told me that some of the factory reamers are so sloppy that you can get up to 250fps more velocity with a match reamer and good equipment (lathe) setup.

I shot USMC rifle / pistol competition. The pressure was insane. An E4 told me go shoot black powder until you learn how to shoot again. I didn't get that at first, but he was telling me to get back to the basics. I was shooting a Getz swamped barrel, rifled .62 caliber flintlock. I sucked for about 2 months , then it hit me. I could take your head off out to 400yds, and it was fun again. Sometimes you just have to quit following industry trends and learn to shoot.

Had a Rem 700 VSSF in 308 since late 90's. Somewhere 2010 about fitted a MDT stock HS3. With a SL5 fitted it gave 1/4MOA easily. But 26" barrel. About 4 weeks ago got the Sako 85 Varmint 308 23.75" barrel. And out of box just with scope and Bipod fitted shot first day under 0.5MOA. Ive now Bump sized and loaded specifically for it. And Im now around to 1/4MOA. What always is amazing is how people say 308 should stay under 500 yards. Yet Bisley shooters shoot open sights to 1000 yards for years with 308.

Hi...we have seen him shoot thousands of times...great too. Would be nice to make HIM small and the targets LARGE. We all get excited seeing the HITs. Just a thought for video production. His form is very consistent but we know how those targets move. Close up on the targets please....maybe a longer lens?

You almost always have to do a little work on Remington 700's it's a project gun depending on the configuration you buy it in. I use a Wyatt outdoors magazine conversion on mine it replaces the bottom metal with a CNC aluminum bottom metal that uses a single stack steel mag that's very reliable.

Eric talking about Hoge stocks on these rifles. I had one on my howa 1500, and printed a 12-13 inch group at 1100 yards with 168 smk handloads. Since then it's in a mdt chassis, but haven't taken it out since to test.

Great video! I just started pondering a custom bolt action built with the intent of reaching out to 1200yds or so. Having started research on receivers, I know it'll be a while before the build starts as I'm seeing prices for quality receivers in the $1300-$1750 range (ish). Need to spend more time looking at cartridge ballistics and narrow down to a cartridge (currently thinking 6.5CM, but may also look at .260 REM or others).

This makes me ALMOST regret getting rid of my Remington 700...almost. Currently building out an LR308 using a CMMG MK3 lower and a Uintah Precision bolt-action upper. Looking into a custom 26-inch or higher carbon fiber barrel. Might have to get one made if I can find someone to make me a 30-inch.

That is a sweet rig.. But I don't know if I agree with everyone needs a 308 bolt action.. My current thinking is I would say have an ar style 308 in a longer barrel. It's a good balance to your ar-15 in a 16" or shorter barrel. Put a 1-8x lvpo on it for longer shots, yet it'll flex into other close roles too if need be. For even longer/more precision stuff that need a bolt action, there's better cartridges than 308.

Hey my favorite color is green as well. I even have green eyes. I'm a Glock 19 and AR-15 nut so, everything you've said is basically German to me. I have a Ruger Hawkeye 6.5 Creedmoor with 26" SS tapered bull barrel and a Vortex 6-24x50 scope. I've had it 15 months and shot it 10 times.

The Trigger tech triggers use a roller bearing which is smoothest travel than any trigger I’ve ever felt. I believe the Elftmann also has roller bearings which they call hammer needle bearings.

I mean, you basically swapped out EVERY COMPONENT on that Remington 700... I bet if you take all the original parts that you took off, you'd have enough parts to build.... A REMINGTON 700

Have you reviewed any of the new “Remarms” rifles? I’m considering the 700 long range in 7mm PRC, but can’t find any reviews as to the quality of the newer 700’s.

Sometimes the custom rifles are worth it. I have a couple, my PRS competition rifle is a Lone Peak Fuzion action in a Foundation Centurion stock, Triggertech Diamond, and Rock Creek barrel in 6mm BRA. It's insanely accurate and prints 0.3 MOA group after group, but getting it to cycle took tweaking the mags. Also, reloading (6mm BRA isn't available commercially) wasn't super straight forward like other cartridges and had it's learning curve. That said, I can do headshots on 66% IPSC at 600 yards off of barricades from standing and kneeling positions. It's unbelievable sometimes when smacking 2 or 3 inch targets at 400 yards repeatedly. Precision rifles have come a long way
