This is the kind of gun you’d pick up at a hardware store, along with a box of .22 shorts and be able to feed your family during a tough winter

The first rifle I ever shot. It was my fathers and he got it used in the mid-thirties. After we left the farm an moved to town this rifle (and his other guns) remained unused in the basement from 1967 until 2007 when dad moved to VA Assisted Living. Me and my two brothers were to split up his collection but I wound up with all of them because neither of my brothers wanted any. I took them home and was most interested in the Remington Model 33. To my knowledge it had never ever been cleaned, certainly not by me and I was the one who used it most, hunting jack rabbits in Wyoming. The bolt still moved smoothly but the face of the bolt, extractor, etc. were heavily caked with wax. I cleaned it all up and lubed what I thought were the important parts. Later, I invited my own son and son-in-law to the range to shoot a few rounds for old time's sake and then likely retire the rifle. It shot beautifully, grouped about an inch and a half high-right at 50 yards. No need to adjust anything, leave it alone. After that I gave it and dad's other guns to my son.

This is awesome. I have my uncle's Winchester Model 67 .22 that he left me, first year's production in 1934! That rifle has taken more squirrel and rabbits than anyone can count and is one of my most cherished guns.

I inherited a model 67 from my dad. He was born in 1924 and he bought it when he was about 12. Shoots better than any 22 I’ve ever owned!

Cumberland Outdoorsman, that little rifle remindes me of my Winchester 69, only made in 1935-1936. Long barrel, ,peep sites, shooting long rifle , longs, shorts , out of box magazines. Manual bolt safety and cock on closing the bolt. Super accurate, quieter than a springer pellet rifle when shooting shorts. Great old 22 rimfire rifles. No frills nothing but good quality meat getters. Squirrel pot pie comming right up !👍👍🇺🇸🙏🏽✌🏻😎

I had a little bolt action Mossberg as my first rifle. I paid about 50 cents for Long cartridges, I liked them better than long Rifle, because they were faster. I took many squirrels and rabbits with that little rifle. Good video, keep them coming.

Depression era single shot .22’s are extremely accurate, rugged & practical being able to use S.L.LR. I love the history of these rifles knowing that the great majority of these rifles were in the hands of folks who used them daily to put food on the tables of struggling Americans.

Hey Tom Sorry been busy and just caught up with your video. I have a Remington Model 33 that I received after my Grand Daddy passed down to my Daddy and he left to me. They are very accurate rifles with the different kinds of .22 Lr rounds and I still enjoy it today. Thank you for the great video and God Bless you and your family.

I had one I made a survival rifle out of it, drilled a hole in the butt stock behind the butt plate. Made it big enough to store fire kit, fishing kit and signal device, never tightened the buttplate boiled tight so it could be gotten loose easy if needed. I gave it to my grandson about 15 years agi

I don’t own a Remington 33, but I do have a 34. I got the 34 from an elderly gentleman who was the original owner. I was intrigued by the feeding mechanism on the 34, great old rifle. I do have a Winchester 67, which was very similar to the Remington 33. As you already know, I love these old .22’s. The single shot rifles offer a good basic introduction to rifle shooting. My first .22 single shot was a Springfield Model 15. I bought it from a family friend who picked it up at an auction and graciously let me have it for what he had paid for it, $12. That was back in the early 1970’s and I still have it. The first time I shot it, I was sitting on top of a pond dam shooting snapping turtles. That little rifle is still one of the most accurate shooting .22’s I’ve ever shot. Thanks for this video, I love all things .22 rimfire.

Yes!!Have the 34/NRA myself and definitely a fancy feeding system with the elevator/translator... Makes for no damage to the rounds when lifting and loading... Helluva straight shooter... Even with open sights... The Lyman 55r sights a bonus as well...

Great video. I have my dad’s Remington model I think 34 but it may be a 35. It’s tube fed bolt action. I’ve done some research on it and have found Remington only built it for three years. The reason being it has an excellent mechanism that inserts the cartridge perfectly straight into the chamber. I have found it was expensive and complicated to make so they discontinued it after three years for a less expensive and simpler mechanism to keep the cost of the rifle down. It is an extremely accurate rifle. My oldest son says he can hit anything at any reasonable range with it. I sure do like it .

I’ve not been fortunate to to find a Model 33, but years ago I got a Model 41 Targetmaster. Much like the 33, the 41 is a single shot bolt action.22. The barrel and action are one piece instead of two. I’ve taken many squirrels and other small game with this vintage Remington rifle.

Hello!!!! I enjoy your channel thoroughly. I don't own a Remington 33, but I do have its big brother--the Remington 34. Have you done a review of the Remington 34? If so, I'd surely like to see the video review. Like your 33, my 34 (which happens to be scoped) must have radar in it. I sometimes miss, but the rifle doesn't. God Bless and have a great day!!!!

My great grandfather bought one at the post office. For i think 15 bucks. He gave it to my grandfather, then in the early 80s was gifted to me. What a rifle. Squirrels hated me. But unfortunately someone like it more than me. Came home one day, and the gun rack was missing one rifle. 30.06, 12g mosburg, and my 22. They took the 22, yes i know who did it. But could never prove it. Mine had a flip up safety on the back of the bolt. Is your missing or is it a earlier model ? Thanks for the review . Edit, the safty on mine i just found out was made by my father. He was a gun smith .i forgot about that.
