It blows my mind that we had watch makers but nobody could come up with a repeating rifle. 1505 was the first pocket watches and atleast 300 years until anything close to a repeating rifle 400 until they could be produced on scale. Don't make any sense to me

Whats funny is ak-47 imports usually have magazine issues that cause it to jam and fall out with random bumps. Maybe we should just revert to single shot, but higher range guns that are much better than any telescopic sniper and can be used by one person unlike a tank which is also extremely loud. We got missiles my friend. Uh oh.

It is not a strong action compared to today's centerfire cartridges. About the hottest cartridges you will find one chambered in is 30.40Krag or 30.30win as well as a few other old military cartridges like the 7mm mauser. If you want belted magnums go with a 1885 browning highwall or Ruger No1

If you managed to get one of those old-school, as long as the gun itself, brass scopes, it would be an entirely different vibe, but pretty much any breech loading cartrige rifle is a vibe. The Martini-Henry, Springfield Trapdoor, Sharps, and of course, the Remington rolling block. They may not have the capacity of modern tacticool rifles, but it more than makes up for it in reliability, ease of use, and aesthetics, not to mention ease of repair and maintenance. Overall, 11/10, these guns are the best.

I have an 1884 in 45/70 and I had one in 43 Spanish, sold it. Fool! Compared to all the other single shots of the era it was the easiest to make, strongest and simplest. It beat the martini in the English trials. The martini is first runner up for rugged simplicity. Costs more to make. The rolling block was adopted by every “primitive” country. If your troops don’t wear shoes, wipe their ass, or wash; no problem. You can teach them how to load and shoot a rolling block. Aiming is optional. So was cleaning apparently from the condition of most guns. It was safe. It won’t go bang out of battery. Well if the firing pin is rusted in place, maybe when you close the breech...... Cheap and easy to make. Not technically picky. And Remington was happy to license production to anybody willing to pay a small royalty. Anybody. Great guns. For the day. Fox out.
