I wanted to go in with an option 40 contract but ended up picking 11x option 4. As he stated, just because you pass doesn’t mean you get selected. In an option 40 contract if you don’t get selected you lose airborne and your bonus. With option 4 you get airborne and you’re bonus but can eventually try to get into rasp and try out. Just food for thought if anyone is going in and wants to be a ranger.

America's first special forces. The US Rangers were created, trained and advised by the British Army Commandos in 1942 Achnacarry Scotland. The 1st and 29th Rangers were born. Direct copies of the Commandos. These later used their new Commando skills to create the 2nd and 5th US Ranger Battalions in 1943 who participated in D day. "Ranger" was selected because of the British colonial Rogers Queens Rangers (Scottish border Rangers). 8 British advisors accompanied the US Rangers at Point Du Hoc as well as 3 SWANS. The later US Green berets, Marine Raiders, US Seals/OG all trace their heritage back to the Commandos. US DELTA force was later modelled on the SAS

However I did see that MOS on the list so now I think he went Ranger.

So, just to be clear, RASP, and RANGER schools are 2 separate and different schools that teach similar, but different things based on your career direction? But all potential Ranger recruits for the 75th RGT have to go through RASP in order to become actual Rangers, but RANGER school is an option for later on?? Is that about right? Cheers, another great video.

Close, RASP is the selection process to get into the 75th airborne rangers. If you make it through that you will be a ranger and have the 75th airborne ranger scroll. Once you are in the 75th if you hadn't already gone to ranger school prior and got your ranger tab at some point you will still go to ranger school to get your ranger tab, I domt think it's an option thing, at some point they'll make you go

You would want to talk to a recruiter about an "option 40 contract". That is a contract to garentee you go to RASP but it's still on you to do well enough to get selected for the 75th Ranger battalion.
@raymondjoseph7177
@raymondjoseph7177 5 ай бұрын
If you go active duty you will 99% be offered to go airbone at ait. They will call your unit and give them your orders if you say yes. Your unit won't fight them and you'll get an air borne badge. Then you will go to your unit. If you pick combat arms you will 100% be offered airborne and probably called a puss if you don't go. If you go combat arms you will most likely be offered the ranger course while at your unit. But only if you're a top performer. I would recommend going to your unit after airborne. Get an idea of what they are doing. Do they need rangers? Maybe not, artillery is combat arms but the unit might not need a ranger. Same with tankers. If you go 11b for sure your easiest and fastest route. Little edit: at anytime as an 11b you show interest in going ranger someone will point you in that direction.
@usernamealreadytaken770
@usernamealreadytaken770 5 ай бұрын
I don’t think you can get a contract to go to Ranger School right away from AIT. You’d probably have to talk to your unit’s leadership when you get to your first duty station and ask for Ranger School. Airborne though, that is possible. You can request an Option 4 contract for that.

I went to basic about a year and a half ago, for me (things always change) a few guys already had the option 40 contract which basically gives them the opportunity to go to rasp. But after basic and into AIT (advance infantry training) a ranger recruiter came by and gave us a run down (who they are what they do things like that) and if we would like to join there’s a PT test tomorrow. (I didn’t try out I didn’t feel like I was in shape at basic) (PT during basic was terrible it was mostly stretching and maybe running 2 times a week TERRIBLE TERRIBLE, yes push-ups and the “home gym” we had in the bay but maybe 3ish miles isn’t enough in my opinion to go to rasp on. @@tylerwillem8683 Really a Ranger almost matches a Navy Seal, it's just apples and oranges. And don't forget the Army has Special Forces, but I think Rangers is about being a foot soldier more like an 11B and to the max. My father was in WW2 and he referred to 11B's as Legs. And he was one of them. Even at regular Basic at Fort Jackson in 1998 when I went in at age 33, there was a 12 mile ruck march towards the later phases. So if you're US Army and going though basic you have to do combat arms training. The key is combat arms. People that are combat arms are way stronger on ruck marches - how much weight is in your ruck? I've seen some crazy mofo's with 50 lbs. in it and I guess it was to make a point. Like I say the old world term is Leg. An Officer might say get me 200 Legs for that flank coming in that side. A Ranger is a soldier that can ruck all fucking day and into the night. Wade in water for a few hours, is at least a sharpshooter with his weapon. And practices how to take the enemy down hand to hand. But for SF, I believe they train for Urban areas, and use high tech stuff and train for whatever the command decides. Also they can blend into all foreign urban areas.

This information is false, the ONLY way you do not get selected is if your TS Clearance isnt cleared, if you pass RASP and make it to the end you get assigned to a battalion. This isn't SFAS, being a Ranger is a volunteer service meaning your selection is EVERYDAY at Battalion not during your RASP process you can be relieved and have your beret taken from you at any point in Regiment for failing to uphold the standard. Cadre at RASP are not at the end calling roster numbers of selectees. Please provide accurate information if you upload a video on a subject.

I went into the Signal Corps, a 25S and served another 7 years. I faced my fears the most in the Cav unit, they ended up going to Iraq in late 2002, I was at the reclass school at Fort Gordon - I was around 38 by the time I went through it. After that I was at a strategic post for SATCOM, and almost never on the field there. Then I did a year in Kuwait, faced some fears there I was briefly in Afghanistan. I tend to agree with that statement and I served 12 years active Army, and 8 more in the reserves and changed MOS's at least twice. And more former Marines end up in the US Army when they shoot for that 20 years of service mark. I've seen an Army Captain, a former marine Officer in the Reserves that I think really sucked. He didn't lead very good at all just pushing soldiers (people) off to other units because of stuff like a clearance, instead of fixing the issue and keeping the person there.The term is cleaning house but from the top down leadership perspective the guy sucks. I saw many other Army Captains in my career that at leat you could have a seast in his / her office and have a conversation with. This former Marine officer that is now a guy over 50 and just an Army Captain had the rank straight to his head, He thought he a Colonel and treated the lower enlisted like dogs.
