Haha. Some memories about that school!. I was a Marine in Ranger class 12-92 . Anyone going there should focus on knowing that no matter how much it sucks while you’re going through it; graduation day will come as sure as the sun will come up to warm you up, you will eat again, you will sleep again, don’t give up just because you’re uncomfortable. Get that tab.

Thank you for a most interesting and well-presented video. In the mid 70’s my boss was an infantry captain in the Royal Canadian Regiment. One day he told me about his experience on the US Army Ranger course. He said they were required to make a jump and the Americans assumed the Canadian students would all be jump qualified. He wasn’t and had never made a jump but he asked his fellow students for assistance and with their help learned what to do, and so was able to make a successful jump. Later when this leaked, he was called before the school staff where he was admonished (with a Ranger wink). What struck me most about this Captain was that he was of medium build, quiet and soft spoken, the opposite of a Rambo type warrior. A vacancy on a US Ranger course was much coveted and those selected did not want to fail. Returning to your regiment without earning the Ranger tab would be a source of shame.

An Army Infantry SSG. I once had a 2LT platoon leader who was peered out of Ranger School... TWICE! Not sure if he was being a turd, or just because he was naturally stubborn. But having served with many who were tabbed, the takeaway here is this: Be a pal. Offer to carry more than your share, help out buddies and leadership whenever possible, and this won't happen to you.

Mountain phase, did a night time live fire ambush ( towed vehicles ) . When we started pulling back there were person sized shadows scurrying around the positions we had been firing from. I started with class 10-82 & recycled into 11-82 by failing the comprehensive exam on the last day of Benning phase (as it was then called). It turned out to be the best thing that ever happened to me, and I got my tab with 11-82 later that summer. I would say really focus on cardio. When I say Cardio try doing an 8 mile run at a 8:00 to 8:15 pace 5 Mile with the goal of being as close to 7 minute to 7:15 pace 8 - 10, 400m (1/4 mile) Sprints with a target time of 1:30. Try getting a toatal amount of 20 to 25 miles a week of running just so you get used to the amount of volume and stress on the body. Stress fractures and pains is what gets alot of people and to mitigate that you just need to add volume to your workouts. Strength training is important as well.

can you become a ranger regardless of your mos? i really want to become a ranger later on but my mom doesnt really liike that im joining the army so shes making me choose a "safer" mos
@trenttaylor2803 Жыл бұрын
Pick the mos that you will have the most enjoyment with. Do not pick an mos that you won’t want to do every single day as your job. This is your career after all, and you’re becoming an adult and a leader. You must choose for yourself, something that you want to wake up and do, even on the tough days. That being said, any mos can attend ranger school, but combat arms typically send the most with infantry being the largest population. Regardless, bug your leadership about going as much as possible, and prove to them that you will pass ranger school by being athletically dominant, and a leader! Good luck.

Ranger School is NOT a School! You don't "Learn how to be a Ranger". You go to Ranger School, to prove that you ALREADY ARE an Airborne Ranger. That means understanding the RAID, AMBUSH, MOVEMENT TO CONTACT, AND RECON so you could do it in your sleep; literally. Listen to the OP ORDERS, understand what is being communicated, plan a simple and clear mission, and make audibles as needed. ALSO, go to School Airborne Qualified. Airborne Operations are a significant part of being an "Airborne" Ranger. Everyone gets hurt jumping; CSM Birch broke his leg jumping at Haditha, and he didn't get it fixed until 3rd Batt came home two and half months later. You will be fine...
