Thanks to Roadkill for making this style of rescue so much fun to watch and spawning so many other content creators in this space. Now...if we as content creators could borrow their camera crew and editing crew for an episode or two of our own....now that would be awesome. What I'm finding is many of these old flat tappet cam rescues come with rounded off hosed cams due to the lack of minerals in the oils for the last couple of decades.

A Highboy (sometimes Hi-Boy) is an F-250 made between 1967-1977 with 4WD. Because the driveline required a divorced transfer case, and because it sat further back, a longer front driveshaft was needed. This meant more clearance was needed, and so the F-250's front end sits up higher.

Love the Bumpside Fords . Especially the 4x4s . No matter where you go in the USA, if you keep a eye on the traffic you will see a Bumpside pickup being driven. It may run like crap , look like crap and sound like crap. But they are tougher and more reliable than any pickup built in the US since the Bumpside Fords. The 4x4 shortbed f100s had low production numbers and were once just rare. Now theyve become very rare. And something like 90% of them were sold on the west coast .

Fwiw I once owned a '68 Ford pickup with a 351 in it and wore the hood hinges out on it as well. Always something wrong with it.....always. We won't discuss how many times I pulled the FMX. I finally just replaced it with a 3spd manual......which of course promptly started leaking badly at the input and had to be pulled back out and fixed. The bolts coming out of the cam retainer plate locking up the top timing gear and breaking the chain ......leaving me stranded again.....was the last straw. Fixed that and got rid of it. Last Ford I ever owned.

Love the Ford Pick up. I Found a 79 one owner chevy 3/4 ton 4×4 4 spd. From Montana and it has the 16.5 steelies white with the tall tires sets nice. That Ford was a Great find. There all Getting to be worth a lot because they Don't make trucks here anymore the parts are made all over the world and their Not trucks any more!!! To much garbage in them and No Personality to them. I Love standard Cab trucks. I have a 1984 K-10 - 4spd from Montana also I found my Sons truck when I went to buy mine. God Blessed us Big time we both wanted 4 spd 4x4s mys a short box and My Sons is a long box we both got what we wanted in one stop. We Did have to put a G.M. 350 4BOLT In his it had a bad Rod bearing but who cares!! So nice to work on them.

If I had that '67 Highboy or any other F-250 Highboy with a divorced T-case, I would totally swap in my roller cam 351w and rwd ZF-5 S47 from my '97 F250HD that got totalled.Way better drivetrain than a 352 or 360 2bbl and 4spd or C6 that would have come standard in one of those. I did a little work to that truck and it ran strong enough with a 3.55 axle to haul 1,000lbs in the bed, plus a fiberglass topper and tow a 1,600lb empty trailer with a car that probably weighed 4400 lbs packed full if stuff. Truck was around 4600lbs empty, plus topper my dog and our stuff in the cab, 5,000+1,000+6,000 trailer, 12,000 gross. I was able to maintain 70+mph the entire trip in 4th gear and had enough power to accelerate and pass slug trucks going up the steepest mountains on I65 North from AL to TN without downshifting and it still was getting 15mpg the whole trip from TX to TN. It never felt like it was lacking power anywhere and got pretty good mileage loaded.
@GorillaCookiesАй бұрын
In good running condition that 352 , Np435 and Dana 24 will easily out pull a 351w and Zf5 . Swap that 352 out and swap in a 390 , mercury 410 or 428 and that old ford will pull and haul a incredible amount of weight. And do it at highway speeds . Before you say the 428 or 410 mercury are hard to find. They arent. The 410 is just a 390 with 360 pistons , 390 rods and 428 crankshaft . Easy parts to find . And 428s are harder to find but far from impossible. I have 2 A scratch 428s and 2 C scratch 428 CJs in my garage now. And paid less than $1500 for 3 of them total and another $1700 for the last 428 CJ to drop in my 55 Fairlane.

I've had over 2200 lbs of scrap steel in the bed of my 390 powered 68 f250 4x4 and pulled another 6700 lbs of scrap iron and steel on my 26 ft 2192 lb trailer without it even running warm in Nor Cal in July. Those FE V8s are just something that other V8s aren't.
