Mussolinis facists had previously basically exterminated the sicilian mafia and forced them to flee to the USA. Anybody that stayed got into prison or more likely shoot on the spott. How were they fighting white protagonists? They were fighting the Japanese government in control of San Francisco. Also it wasn't really an empowerment thing they weren't really that important of characters in the end, more of a plot point to deal with how to get the Japanese government out of America. Did you watch the show?

They really played the Japanese like they were so noble and decent. They cannibalized Indian POWs, did experiments on Chinese, raped Nanking women to dea+h, slaughtered 250,000 Chinese for helping the Doolittle Raiders, bayoneted babies and Unit 721. All swept under the rug by the Korean War and Cold War. But in this show even the ruthless Yakuza were such decent and noble upstanding occupiers.

If this show has skipped the major alternate reality aspects and just had a few of the alternate reels of film show up to cause doubt that would have been perfect.

Would there have been enough blacks living on the West Coast in the 1940s/1950s in this alternative timeline to make the BCR a viable force against the Japanese Imperial army and air force, even in a weakened state? I think this is highly unlikely. And, if the Japanese Empire were collapsing and the USSR were gone, the Nazis would've been unstoppable most likely. It's nice to think an autocratic government is doomed to collapse, but that isn't what history has shown. Sometimes, autocratic states can go on for centuries undisturbed. Yes, the Nazi rulers were utterly evil, but, if the Third Reich had no direct competition, it might have done very well for itself.
@ajmari9585
@ajmari9585 2 жыл бұрын
I think so. As you pointed out one thing the show did well was show the slow collapse of the Japanese Empire. So even if black people were say only 10% of San Francisco, and only half of them were militants, in a weakened state, brutal urban warfare, I could see them taking over quickly. The only problem was how rushed that whole plot seemed, not flushed out at all.
