Started my 305 today... drove it around the block, now I just finished crying long enough to watch your video. Great work on the car, awesome production quality of the video. I'm going to go back to crying now.

My 89 tpi305 formula with an auto was entertaining for a bit as a 14.2 second car. I built a full race stroker 383 (eagle forged bottom end, JE forged pistons, dart heads etc )and after frying a race built th350 with a 3200rpm stall, I converted the car to a t56 from an LT1 Camaro. It was built to take alot of nitrous but still be brutal NA. If you plan to actually daily the car keep in mind not to over build it. My car is damn fun but if you cant drift you wont be able to keep it on the road. Efi makes it alot easier to drive but if you do a carbed build expect it to be a bit of a bitch on the road. Efi with a manual helps alot with big power in the street.

Hudson well if I do anything more to mine it will be along the lines of Matt but without the sc. A basic stock 5.3 would make me happy enough if I could commute in it occasionally not having to always drive my '15 Sierra Z71. I've never been too into drag racing, but did have a blown 5.9 crewcab Dodge Dakota sleeper that ran a 14.2.
@jonathanhudson46236 жыл бұрын
@@snflupigus I fully understand going LS. I was 16 (2000-2001) when I built the stroker 383 and converted it to a t56 . When I did that, my 02 ws6 TransAm (my daily) hadn't even been built yet. When I built the 89 formula everyone on 3rdgen,org told me I'd never be able to get headers big enough for my 383 to fit with the t56. I used a set of hedman headers and didnt have to trim much of the 3 bolt flange or notch much of the bell housing. I used to drag race before I got too sick to work on the car all the time. I did install the headers and catless y-pipe on my 02 in 95 degree heat with the car on jack stands, with staples holding my stomach closed from my ribs to my waist line and later on in the same kind of heat I installed my nitrous kit with blood poisoning. Fear of dieing before you finish a goal is a hell if a motivator. I'm doing a 5.3 swap in my 2000 zr2 s10 with a turbo. It's the L33 aluminum block 5.3. My truck is on torsion bars and the L33 weighs basically the same as the iron block 4.3 that came in it. The turbo is just because I've always had a thing about having excess power. My 87 k5 blazer will likely end up with a 6.0, if not a stroker 383 built from its stock 350, with a bottle for alittle kick. I'd rather have the extra power and not need it than need it and not have it. That TBI350 damn sure ain't cutting it. The L33 woukd be a great choice for a 3rd gen. They came with 799 heads which us the same casting as the 243 heads on the ls6. Find an ls6 intake from a 01-02 ls1 f-body and a set of headers and you'd be cooking ass. Sorry about the long reply.

nice builds. I hope you're feeling better now. Building cars in AZ is a winter sport it can be 120+ in my garage here. My current focus is a '73 914, no idea for engine choice yet but the stock 2.0 and efi might go back in due to rising values of Porsche cars and parts. I just got a 2015 Sierra z71 as a daily, and have what it replaced, an '02 Tacoma. The Camaro just keeps coming in last in terms of budget priority, but watching Matt's videos does all it can to change that order! Baby due in 2 weeks puts a pause on all of it.
@snflupigus6 жыл бұрын
@Richard Skipper well, streetable and able to commute in are two different things. 305 has heads cam rockers intake headers wideband ebl etc... I want smooth power modern power, not lopey idle pushed to limit 305. Better to have slightly modded LS for drivability.

I know that kits are made for the newer mustangs that essentially run a ~1” tube through the firewall that connects the intake to the cab, but is capped off on the cab end with a thin plastic cap that lets sound through really well, you might check and see if you can find one that works for your application

Beautiful car. This is what they should of been new. Love that color. I had an IROC when I was in HS (98) that looked close to this. I loved that car. It had an LT-1 and sounded great and had a lot of mods (shaved door handles, sound system with MTX 12”s and the dual white stripes up the hood) but it just kept falling apart, and being 17-18 years old, I didn’t wanna mess with it. Boy I regrets selling it tho. I got around $8000 out of it at the time, and I was going to collage soon.

Awesome. Sounds like it runs pretty damn good! On the exhaust, I have a really good idea for you that works. I had a 4” mufflex system on my third gen. I necked it down going right into a stock 2002 ss camaro muffler. Left the factory tail pipe coming out the driver side. On the passenger side I made s block off plate and cut the tail pipe off right at the muffler and welded the block off plate on there to cap it off. Then at that 90 degree turn over the axle Going into the muffler, I cut a hole right there in the turn so the exhaust didn’t have to make the turn. I put a 3.5” pipe going to s cutout and then after the cutout I necked it down to fit the factory exhaust tip. Super quiet when cruising. Then nasty when I want it.
@lsxmatt6 жыл бұрын
That’s what I was thinking of doing. Just maybe using a quiet flowmaster on one side, then the cut out on the other.
@Turbogto_guy6 жыл бұрын
LsxMatt not sure there’s a such thing as a quiet flow master. A walker quiet flow or a hooker max flow would be better choices.

I’m a huge IROC fan and I’m all about opening up sports cars on the highway, but man, trust me, you can’t be launching on those side streets with parked cars. You’re going to take out a kid on a bike coming out between those cars. I don’t care how good you you are, you can’t jump to the brake from gas on a launch in time. Walbro made in USA will last about 5000 miles. Walbro made in China will last about 3 hours or 5 minutes. I've been through three GSL 392 inline pumps that were installed correctly. I'm installing a Deatshwerks DW 250 IL pump and will post up the results.

Is it just a problem with the 400’s, or all Walbro’s? Ive never had a problem with their 255’s.
@generalsixty21336 жыл бұрын
I don't know about that. My first Walbro was from Fuelpumps.net and they are all about genuine made in USA. Worked great at 43 PSI for about 5000 miles then lost pressure at any load above idle. Then I purchased two from Amazon and they shit the bed really quickly. DW is made in Oklahoma and their website gives me confidence. 3 year warranty so they stand behind their pumps. China hasn't fucked up Deatshwerks ........yet.
