I'm glad it wasn't ALL bad news! I finally got registered today as a patient with the Cleveland Clinic. Having Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome kinda puts the fear into some specialists, and my current GI has cancelled once, the day BEFORE my colonoscopy/endoscopy while I was mid prep. He wasn't happy that I lost bowel control completely and became hydrated. Now, with dysphasia and a prolapsed duodenum, I need immediate intervention.

:( I don't like hearing that you aren't feeling well, but it's real life and these things do happen. I'm waiting for a date for my MRI... I actually enjoy them - very cool technology! I hope that whatever is going on with your body settles down!

Hi, hope you feel better really soon (though you made have made this video ages ago?). Look after yourself and keep your excellent videos rolling. I’m on over 15 meds and will probably be on more after I have my stoma done in the very near future. I can’t thank you enough for all the brilliant videos you’ve uploaded. I’m nervous about my upcoming surgery to have my stoma/colostomy done in the coming weeks and am apprehensive. I don’t have Chromes Disease but rather am paralyzed due to a car accident back in 2000 while studying in the USA but had to return here to Ireland for treatment. I wish I could find someone else who is paralyzed and has had to have a stoma done due to severe incontinence - if you know of anyone else here on KZbin who speaks about this and could put my mind at ease? I’ve also had to have a suprapubic Catheter put in a few months back and it’s been mega useful for me. I would be very grateful if you could. Your videos are very beneficial and helpful, many thanks and keep up your amazing work. You look and come across as being so happy and so proactive and I really admire you in not allowing it to hold you back and I admire your making of these videos. My surgeon believes I should be able to return to work within 4-6 weeks after the surgery - do you think that this is achievable? Looking forward to hearing back from you in the near future, Many thanks, MarkC Founder of Ability2Achieve - Ability2.org

I’m kinda on the opposite spectrum. I got a CT and it showed nothing. For about 18mos now I’ve lost so much weight, been bloated, unable to eat, nauseous, getting stomach cramps and no answers.

I had my first MRI a few weeks ago (have had crohns since 2007 but also my first MRI) and I found the procedure not great lol it was really uncomfortable but I think that was because I was laying in an awkward position on my front, next time I am going to ask to go on my back! And also the drink gave me an upset stomach for a few days. Still waiting on the results (I'm in England so had the procedure done on the NHS). Really positive that you only had a small area of inflammation :) But sorry you have been feeling unwell! Have you ever been on biologic drugs? Infliximab/Remicade worked really well for me and they have brought out even newer biologics - I'm currently on ustekinumab/Stelara :) It sounds like a good choice to cut down on your hours for a little bit and so great that you will have more time to study towards your goal.

Praying all gets better soon, Maggie. I have learned tremendous amounts about IBD from you. Although my chronic illness is something different entirely, I understand how hard it is to slow down. For me, it's because it may be awhile before I'm back up and going again, so I don't want to stop, but when I listen to my body, the results are so much better. Way to go with the wound care goal! You'll be awesome! Get well soon. Hugs from New Orleans.

Maggie, do you know of any support groups here in Ireland? I’ve been trying to find one but to no avail! I, along with my original Stoma Nurse in my Hospital where I recently had my surgery, are thinking of setting up our own website, support group and blog on line. Do you have any advice you could give us? Along with your permission to use your KZbin videos on our site or if you’d prefer links to relevant issues as we speak about them on our site and hopefully bring you over 10,000 new followers from here in Ireland as this is the estimated number of those fellow Ostamates here in Ireland! I am very new to this as I only had my surgery done in early June this year and, thanks to your excellent videos, have been coming to terms with this surgery and the dramatic changes it has brought with it - all for the better though thanks to your brilliant advice 😉. Am still trying to come to terms with all that’s happened in a very short space of time though and it’s been tough but made that bit easier thanks to your excellent videos. You are very inspiring - as not only have you come to terms with it but you now work in the very area which has effected your life - my hats off to you! Your very positive and happy outlook has really helped inspire me in so many ways. I look forward to hearing from you in the very near future and keep up the great work you are doing, Loads of hugs 🤗 , MarkC Any advice re setting up a site for fellow ostomates here in Ireland would be so much appreciated - xoxo, MarkC

I recently got an ostomy and was having a hard time adjusting but then I found your videos and it has really helped me get through everything and feel better about myself. So thank you Maggie! And yes please take care of yourself! I went in to hospital during a bad flare up. The worst part is, is that I didn't realise how bad it was cuz flare ups were normal for me by then (going to bathroom over 30 times, sick every few mins , not eating...so yeah normal right?) Until my consultant admitted me to hospital. I didn't know I'd be stuck there for just over 2 months! And would be getting an emergency surgery so it was a shock. But watching your videos has really helped and realise that it's not that bad and other people have been through similar experiences, So once again thank you Maggie! Sorry about this long comment I just really needed to get this down...

Can they do mre enteeogroahy with NO sorbitol and water only. gI has requested it as sorbitol makes me sick as dog and hospitalised me but am feeling nervous I need some sorbitol to expand bowels. Sorbitol makes me go 20 times to toilet and I start 30 min after drinking it and machine needs to be stopped also. Then 10 hrs later I get real bad TI pain and cramps etc that will make me vomit and pain is intense. I take tramadol x 2 and ending x 2 when hospitalised for this procedure. Am nervous. First time it landed me to be hospitalised and second time I was hospitalised and it made it all worse. Aghhhh

Watching this because I had my MRI today. Not sure if I have IBD yet bc I’m being investigated but after the barium drink I had explosive diarrhoea immediately and was barely able to keep it in for the scan. Absolutely awful experience and the worst cramps of my life. Although this comment is late I hope you’re doing well ☺️

Oh, I really dont like having an MRI at all. I'm due to have another one in a couple of weeks to assess the situation. My nurses are lovely and play nice music into the headphones they give you. They had to cover my eyes last time, but I'm hoping I'll be ok this time. Eek. The fun things us crohns people have to go through. Xx

I have been following your channel for a while. Totally forgot you are a CHOP nurse. We were just admitted with my 5M old for FTT/aspiration and to start tube feeds. Are you on the 5th floor? In hindsight I think we saw you up there on all of our walks through the halls.

I hope you get to feeling better. I had this same MRI done last week they still can't find what's wrong. I had to drink that same barium I felt like I was going to throw up once I got to my second bottle luckily they let me slide and didn't have to drink the third. I have been having such horrible stomach pains since last summer. I'm thinking it's IBS. Did they give you a shot in your am to paralyze your intestines at the end of the MRI? I felt horrible after and totally regretted driving myself to the radiology place.

From a fellow Crohnie: I feel ya! All the faecal-matter-centric expletives apply. Take care, drink black tea, eat mush, you know the drill. I‘m sorry. It gets better. Etc. 💜

Have the same issue with contrast. I might as well be drinking colonoscopy prep. I can make it through the test though.

Hey. So my friend has an ileostomy bag. He's coming to stay with my partner and I for a couple of days. Where do you dispose of the bags? I want to put a bin out if he needs it in the right area. In his room? toilet? bathroom (separate to the toilet)?
@kdeembo3053
@kdeembo3053 6 жыл бұрын
Hi Kimmi, hope you don't mind me replying It depends where he prefers to empty/ change his bag. Normally it is done in the bathroom so that is where it would be best to place the bin, but if he prefers to do it in his bedroom, then it would be better to place the bin there. You could ask him where he would best like it if you are still unsure. (sorry this is a bit late)

I had a CTE with the same oral contrast (Volumen) and they had to delay my appt and reduce the number of bottles I had to drink because it is chocked full of Sorbitol which causes diarrhea and I couldn't get out of the bathroom to go do the CTE.
