Rpm airgap with a 1 inch open spacer is still extremely hard to beat for the street intake manifolds, and then next to that the procomp single plane a.k.a. copy of the old gm bowtie intake is and has always been really really good and wayyy cheaper than most

Amazing that the cheapest, Chinese intake made more power than intakes costing 3 times as much. It's been known for years that them Hurricane intakes are good. Better than I thought actually. I would have put my money on the Super Victor 2. Those Keith Dorton intakes make less power than the original Strip Dominator 300-25 I've seen in a previous test. But on a 700-800 hp 434, the results would be different for all of them. I would have liked to seen where the Dart singleplane fell in that comparison. Good job man. 20 minute intake swaps is kickin ass.

Thank you for testing all those manifolds Eric. It would have been great to see how an rpm air gap would have done if you had one to test. Also, interesting would be what happens to fuel distribution in a given intake manifold when subjected to g-forces - front to back for drag racing or side to side for road coarse applications. I'm not sure if it is even possible to do that but maybe checking air/fuel ratios at each cylinder with O2 sensors??

Oh and a little a little trick to that rpm intake manifold The air gap and the RPM have the same carb pad height except the air gap has the separation between the valley and the runners and the RPM doesn’t so when you cut down the divider on the regular RPM you’re basically copying the air gap intake manifold and gains about 10 hp give or take a couple up top fwiw

The only thing I can seem to find for a "hurricane" intake manifold, is by a company named "Professional Products", and everywhere I look, people are giving these things a one star rating, and say they can't even get the gaskets to seal on them they're so bad. Excellent, exhaustive test. I have an odd question. Let's say an engine is on the small side, I've heard of heavily ported intakes killing a lot of midrange torque with very little top end gain.. A lot of intakes have openings that are way small. Does leaving them small maximize torque? Or is there a certain amount of porting that increases power everywhere? Like opening up only the top and side that matches the straight wall of the heads port and leaving the bottom and pinch point side alone?

We had a dynojet inertia roller at one of the motorcycle shops we worked at. And while i loved that thing, It didn't really earn its keep as it was not our primary source of income, we sold bikes and accessories, serviced and repaired, fitted tyres ect. Unless you are going to run your shop as a dyno shop, they are not worth it just to have sitting idle in the corner. Eric would have to give up porting/building or take on a full time second person to run it if he was to justify a dyno.

@@WeingartnerRacing that is beyond interesting. Thank you. I cant wait until you fix the port match with epoxy and retry. I sure hope you get a chance to re visit this area. If its worse. It would almost be nessasary to bugger up and oversize the port match on a different intake and try duplicate the result to isolate what went on there? All I can say is I sure hope the hack match is not helping that hurricane. Or I have been doing it wrong my whole career and I dont want to mismatch ports. It bothers me🤔 If you read this far. I will say We had a David nickens comp engine years ago. Sbc. That he had left on purpose a 3/16" mismatch on the floor of the intake to head entrance to kick up tue wet fuel on a tunnel ram. We fixed it and lost power. I was a teen back then. That always stuck in my head.
