I consider things from my childhood to be retro but I’m almost 40 years old. So to hear my 19 year old daughter say the GameCube is retro just makes me laugh but everyone looks at it differently.

Finally the hunting is back! It has been to long! The room looks really good. Good finds to. Loooove Ducktales. It's hard to say what's retro or not. I think for me personally it's when it's 15-20years old the retro feel is coming to the games. On a side note, I think it's great that you edit in the numbers in the videos, it makes it so much easier to follow. Great work as usual!!

QotD- I feel that retro gaming is anything before the PS3, Xbox 360, and Wii. Prob because sometimes in retail stores like Walmart I can still find some wii, 360, and ps3 stuff like players choice versions of games.

What I consider retro games are pixelated graphics and early 3D graphics such as n64 and even ps2. Old consoles and older pc games are perfect examples on what we have branched off too in today’s day of age in gaming these retro systems built a foundation on what gaming should be like graphically, mechanical and creatively, so who knows what gaming can offer us in the near future. ☺️

For me Retro is two full generations ago. PS2 Xbox and Gamecube are now retro in my eyes. I grew up w the N.E.S. so I've seen many phases of retro games. I include the Wii and Wii U together because of time periods they launched in.

I definitely agree! I grew up in the 90's, and I said that I consider retro to be anything up to and including at least the early days of the PS2, so that aligns about perfectly with what you said. I love that there is no right or wrong answer though, it's absolutely dependent on when the individual grew up and what games made up their childhood.

Retro is probably relative to an individual’s age and what they may have had when they were young. For me, it’s anything prior to disc based games. NES, Super NES, Genesis is the quintessential retro era of my time. BTW, NICE Ducktales find. Picked up the exact one at one of my local Goodwills.

The cleanest definition I've ever heard to differentiate between retro and modern is: Modern is the current and previous generation of consoles/handhelds. Retro is anything prior. Now as a 38 year old man, this was a tough pill to swallow, because I still think of PS2 as relatively modern, let alone PS3 (which I recently started collecting and LOVE)!!! BUT... as bad as it feels, it is actually a really sensible way to define the split.

Retro collecting is collecting games from probably mid 200s or maybe 90s and earlier. Collecting is what you make of it. If you wanna start, don't start with popular stuff, start with games for consoles you have or stuff you want.

When people think of retro, they always think of any video games of the ps1 era and before. For me, there are more retro vibes in modern games too. Shovel Knights, Duck Tales remaster, River City Girls, Wild Guns Reloaded, Street of Rage 4, and etc are getting the retro vibes presently. So making older games retro is no longer set by time now as more games are coming out. Usually indie games and short funded games will bring the retro to modern gaming now.

Imho, I think of 2 loose, but simple indicators of retro gaming: 1. Not be from the current generation console. 2. Create a feeling of nostalgia. Console generation cycles can last a long time. I have fond memories of playing PS2 with my cousin from back in the day even though I still don’t think of the PS2 as an old console.
