@@tdahlquist1670 not going on the books in the original film because if the speed the x wings needed to go to avoid turbo laser fire the x wings could not direct enough power to fully charge their shields thus when they approach the gun emplacements the squadron leader says shields double front which leaves the rear deflectors at minimal power but gives the front deflectors full power, when the tie fighters appear he then says equalise shields which gives about half power to front shields which gives enough power to the rear shields to take a couple of hits not one hit! This is, over all, great stuff. - The lighting , lighting glare and how shadows fall over objects - as other objects pass over them - excellent - the movement of the ships - very good - they seem to have an individual flight path - even though they're traveling in groups. - The sound effects layers - very good - extra visual effects - laser bolts - especially the coming out of hyperspace sequence - great !! The only things that still doesn't quite sell the realism is the CG modeling of the surface of the spaceships - in some scenes they look as though they don't have enough detail, in other scenes they look more primitive heavy (box like) in their detail. The Tie fighters in this are an excellent example of what I mean - they don't look refined enough. That's why (even though it's extremely expensive and entails a huge amount of physical labor - nothing yet has been able to replace the look of physical model building (done by the best in that field) - because it really is "physically real." Maybe there's more computing power needed or a better CG program for this. - and yeah, it would've been nice to inter-cut all of this with real people actors in cockpits - but - that's a whole other set of problems, like coming up with a lot of $$$$$$
