The Return Narrowboat Journey on the Leeds & Liverpool Canal - Part One

All good things must come to an end and as duty calls it’s time to return to our home mooring. In part one of two episodes, we’ll head back down the five rise staircase lock at Bingley and pay a visit to the World Heritage site of Saltaire. So join us as we travel on our narrowboat journey along the Leeds and Liverpool canal in Yorkshire, England.

Great vlog, we are planning going up Leeds to iverpool this year, wish you could of given more of a boaters view, I'e where to stop, not to stop, etc, good pubs etc, times etc, but thanks, best bits is when your talking rather Han just scenery, but well done, looked like you were both happy!.

Top tip for the swing bridges on the L&L if they stick is to get one or two crew to bounce the swing arm up and down, this saved us on a couple of occasions when it just wouldn't budge by pushing alone.Also worth pointing out that the Five Rise & Three Rise are manned by C&RT lock keepers who do an excellent job and are a mine of useful information.

Great vlog as usual. Saltaire is lovely. The mill is fantastic. Not only the art shop and the Hockney collection, but a great cafe/restaurant and a really good bike shop! Hopefully your vlog will encourage more people to go there! Well, except when I'm there...obviously! Loved the drone footage of the five rise too :)

We did that journey three weeks ago and this took me right back there. Thankfully we didn't have any problems with the bridges but we did run aground in the bottom of the double staircase just outside Saltaire! I can't wait to get back now so thank you. Your videos are great and I loved the drone at the top of the 5 rise.

After watching your video we've booked another hire boat for July. A 56 foot 2/4 berth this time so we can compare it to the smaller 48 foot boats we've hired before. Your videos are so good you should advertise the local hire boats for commission!

You go down the staircase locks like 5 Rise with your water so I think it makes it a much easier process and better water conservation too. Those pesky swing bridges again eh... but all part of the adventure .... CRT were fated to be there for you. Love the video.

Hi Kev, glad that you enjoyed it. Yes going down is definitely a much easier process! It was quite amazing that CRT showed up when they did, we were convinced that they were there to fix the bridge but no, they knew absolutely nothing about it. Fate was on our side that day :-)

liked the drone shot of the 5 rise. could see and then understand the side flood channels and how it works. oh and has the drone got a pub finder beacon on it, in case of stoppages ( like on way over )
