The Return Narrowboat Journey on the Leeds & Liverpool Canal - Part Two

All good things must come to an end and as duty calls it’s time to return to our home mooring. In part two, we’ll head back through Leeds and out onto the Aire & Calder Navigation. So join us as we travel on our narrowboat journey along the Leeds and Liverpool canal in Yorkshire, England.

Hi Tori & Tony...only just got round to watching this as didn't watch much on our travels to and from the Crick show :) I've had a few drinks in the Rodley Barge :) The water level looked high in Office Lock! I remember going up River Lock must be 15-20 years ago with an old guy single handing. I thought he was mad...now I am that old guy! Looking forward the videos about costs...Having bought our boat last August...we're finding out about them gradually! :)

How do you all feel the pacing of the trip was? Would you do it again but slower not going as far, or faster and getting more distance in? or was it juuustt right? We would like to see video(s) about buying, owning and living (costs) on a narrow boat thanks - down to the monthly costs if possible? How you manage shopping with maybe not being near somewhere, or have your car at hand to do it etc? Also, the differences being both in a marina and being a constant cruiser... I know CtC has done videos on the subjects, but we would just like another persons take on it all thanks...? Chris

No, no compulsory training is required but there are helmsman courses that you can take.

Forgot to ask if you can do a narrowboat builders/fitters comparison? I like Aqualine (Madison/superb quality, as far as I can tell) and Elton Moss (Winchester SE/furnishing and equipment placement). Or is there a site to go to since it may be a complex answer and there are so many of them. Is anyone else interested? Anyone have a link or input? I wonder who are the best in quality for dutch barges as well? Mahalo

To be honest this isn't something that we have much knowledge about as we bought our boat second hand and have refitted it out ourselves. I would say that the Crick boat show is the best place to go to see as many boatbuilders as possible and make comparisons.

if you should decide to make the Q & A a regular feature I and many others would like to see your electrical system in detail mostly what you yourselves run on your boat such as a tv computer video camera all the things you run on your boat at this time and show us the effect it has on your electrical system such as when to use the inverter how many batteries do you have on board how many alternators do you use to charge the battery bank also do you use solar power all these things been trying to get more info but finding it is hard all this kind of thing I will need to know as and when I buy are boat hopefully towards the end of next year cannot wait.... many thanks guys hope you can help.
