Just for reference, I am in of the opinion that Nanotyrannus is invalid, and was in fact a juvenile Rex. There is much stronger evidence. That being said, id be remiss if I didnt talk about both sides.

I like the idea of a dwarf tyrannosaur. Stuff like that continues to flesh out earth’s ancient history. A lot of dinosaur species were probably never fossilised.

Kind of a disappointing thought missing out on entire niche species because none of them were able to be fossilized. Definitely not impossible just a sad thought

Maybe Nanotyrannus if its a real genus maybe it lived in a ecosystem where smaller animals thrived and large dinosaurs fall, or a isolated island
@IsabellaReyes-kw9mz
@IsabellaReyes-kw9mz 8 ай бұрын
That's probably true, fun fact about bones and fossils most of them never live to there formal glory or get digged up because they pretty much evaporate. They could disappear or get broken by the Titonic plates shifting (sorry if I spelled it wrong.) Or even get messed up by water. There's more things that I don't really remember on what I learned, but point is it's actually rare for fossils to be found.
@IsabellaReyes-kw9mz
@IsabellaReyes-kw9mz 8 ай бұрын
It's sad that we would probably not be able to find them. That would be cool to find another raptor breed that's actually a bit bigger then usual or even another breed similar to a T. Rex. (I would like to call a new rec breed HydroRex? Or something like that.) It would be cool if there COULD be somehow a Rex breed that could actually swim. (Tiny arms left chat but still) or maybe we could even find even bigger dinosaurs?

This is honestly one of my favorite things about paleontology: The constant debate. There's convincing evidence from both sides and the truth is that we may never know the true answer, so the conversation can continue indefinitely. Sometimes it's nice to know that you may never get a correct answer.

While we don’t know the confirmation about which is true or not. We do know most evidence have lead towards the juvenile T. rex side than nanotyrannus side. The only support evidence of nanos are the arms were tend to be longer. But that just it. Only time will tell. Whether it would be decades even.

also this 1.specimens of juveniles of any dinosaur are not that common. 2.that many morphological differences from juevenile to adult is not common among theropods and would be unique to tyrannosaurus rex 3. the growth rings idk if nanotyrannus or juevneile tyrannosaurs operated in the mid size carnivore niche. however what i do know is that there is a sizeable portion of ecological niches that dont have a corresponding predator.

I believe that this is a new species largely because there are not a whole lot of medium sized carnivores in hells creek formation. Sure there were dromeosaurs but they were significantly smaller so nanotyrannus can be a separate species from sheer niche partitioning.

I think I got an idea for one of the next videos you do. This one is on SCP-1265, also known as “The Mesozoic Preserve”. SCP-1265 is an irregularly shaped 50km area of land within the Congo basin. SCP-1265 is mostly contained within the Democratic Republic of the Congo, but approximately 15km of it is contained within the Republic of the Congo. The majority of SCP-1265 is uninhabited, save for some tribal villages, flora typical of the Congo basin and most of all, living dinosaurs.
