Jed, this van looks GREAT. When I bought my Syncro Camper, the coolant heating pump was fitted in series with the front heater core. I modified the installation. It draw coolant parallel to the heater core and feeds the heat exchanger which replaced the rear heater core. No hot water tank, just an exchanger. Sinc the modification, taking a shower is a joy.

Nice.. I do like the tank though as it heats the water from the engine then stores it so I dont need the engine to get hot water. I like it being automatically thermostatically controlled also so nobody gets burned and I dont waist water trying to mix out to the correct temperature. Cheers, Jed

Its coming together nicely, good work! I fitted a calorifier like that in my van last year (inspired by your Managon setup!). Got an eber coolant heater as well which I've had for a while - heats up the calorifier tank really quickly for hot shower when parked up for a few days. Re panel insulation - I put a couple of layers of silvered bubble wrap in mine which has worked well and doesn't seem to trap moisture 👍

Hey Jed have you thought of putting rigid foam insulation in. It would keep from retaining moisture. Also in your experience is insulation even a necessity? Going to be building a syncro for traveling in the states and plan on a auxiliary heater.

In my personal opinion through the experience of using a van like this I would say insulation in the bottom half (where the factory insulation was) isn’t going to do much of anything. Having an auxiliary heater ticking over and opening the skylight or a window a little to regulate the heat is the way to go. Unvented insulated areas in any metal shelled vehicles will alway have moisture and form condensation so better to have the air flow to let those areas dry out. Jed

Nice to see the Joker back yeah. Have you ever considered a change in decorum using a pair of scissors? I think Louise could do it.
