I actually do agree with this perspective. But there are a lot of fans who demand Lelouch. The fandom seems pretty split on this point tbh but I think we could have a good compromise by just not overly utilizing Lelouch

technically speaking no matter what happens it isn't canon. it's canon to the reboot timeline, which is fine. that's something i like about code geass, we got the satisfying ending that concludes lelouch's story and the happy ending where we get to see him keep going. so you get to enjoy both regardless of which you prefer.

One thing to note: I personally love the idea that Lelouch and CC would act as Roze's "masters." This is just me guessing, but at the end of Ressurection (post-credits scene), Lelouch and CC are in a forest and Lelouch is repeating the warning that CC gave him in the very first episode. So maybe he was saying it to someone else, like Roze? I like this idea because CC and Lelouch wouldn't have to play a vital part of the show necessarily I think, they'd just show up once in a while to give Roze some advice and laugh at him for being an idiot like CC did to Lelouch. Anyway, my theory, but I'm excited to see the show with or without Lelouch (I can't say honestly that I won't be sad if Lelouch isn't in this)

Code Geass ended BECAUSE Lelouches plan, worked. All the worlds hate is focused on him and he is "dead". For that to work, he must remain "dead" I think the movie Lelouch of the Resurrection had a huge issue in that it seemingly forget about Geass being a power of the mind, likely related to the collective unconscious and instead decided "No, it's witchcraft, check out this magic". Having the lady actually rewind time ruined the aspect of the show. However one thing it did well, is that although it pulled Lelouch back into the show, it didn't thrust the world into chaos and war, it kept the world relatively peaceful and although Lelouch did come back, he wasn't revealed to much of the world, and at the end adopted a new identity to help conceal his identity. "Lelouch" can't be alive, that's how his plan works. So in this new series, if Lelouch plays a role, it must be through a secret identity or a hidden role, and it shouldn't throw the world back into chaos. Small scale conflict is better. World Wars would mean Lelouches plan actually failed. Remember the world is all unified and run by a very sweet young girl who wants the world to be a gentler place. Schneizel is also "pretty smart" and he serves Zero (Suzaku) so unless someone is pretending to be Zero, recruiting Schneizel and then using him to cause problems, Lelouches plan should have succeeded and he should stay mostly out of the story, and the story should focus on small things out of Nunally's control. Also no more magical Geass's please. There probably shouldn't be any new Geass's since CC and LL probably aren't in the habit of handing them out like candy, however if there is, hopefully they effect the mind and not fucking time. "Rolo, you can't stop time, no one can, you just altered my perception of time"

I really doubt that Lelouch would be included in the first half of the Anime. He must be someone who fans are eager to see, like a fish seeing some bait. That and the main Protagonist must first need his own time to evolve. Lelouch would just steal to much spotlight. However, I really cannot imagine that Lelouch won't appear at all. Even if just as a cameo, I think he will appear somehow. And he would never kill his sister, I just cannot imagine that. But I can very well imagine her to die because of some other cause, maybe even by the hand of our new Protagonist.

So I've said this elsewhere but Code Geass has become a pretty large series with lots of non-anime characters, abilities, and thoughts I think are really interesting and should be more well known. So I'm hyped but I'd really like it if this was a more basic series with only small links to anything else and if it does well we can more properly bring in all of those lesser known things the series has.

Well, this follows the resurrection timeline (Which is not canon to the original timeline). And following the movie, he's probably still alive with C.C. since he can't age due to the fact of Lelouch's Code. But it's not truly explained. It would still be fun if he had a cameo or something like that.

Think they should make an anime showing Europa fight Britania, because we know of a piece contract between both sides and it would be cool to see wich pilots are responsible for it, also want to see more from Europa after seeing it in the other spinoff (Akkito the Exiled) And for Rose I don't need to see Lelouch as cameo or memberbarrys, his ending is perfect, but if they do something good with him (like the lie comes out) I'm in for it.

I think Lelouch as a straight up villain or antagonist would be kinda boring. I'd be much more interested to see a new character corrupt the symbol of zero by using it to commit evil or something. Overall I'd definately perfer if lelouch took a backseat in the franchise going forward, so we can really appreciate the growth of the world he left behind. I feel much the same way you do about the future of the franchise, tho. Nothing Sunrise does will ever take away how much R1 and R2 meant to me, so any new code geass projects just have me excited to see what they do.

Either way I would love another Code Geass series. Maybe, if they want to include Lelouch, and C2, who I am still convinced is real name is Cecilia, as she is often associated with Lelouch and, in my opinion, a very subtle romance between them with Lelouch of the Resurrection adding fuel to that theory, it could be in a supporting capacity. Or, I just thought of this, perhaps they could seek advice from Lelouch only to find out that he is living a surprisingly peaceful life with C2 and his drive for bloodlust-revenge has been satiated and either refuses to aid in bloodshed again or his drive for rebellion is kindled anew by senseless slaughtering making him feel his work has failed to unify the world or it only did so temporarily. It's still my headcanon that at the end of R2 that C2 is talking directly to Lelouch as the driver of the wagon smirks as if acknowledging and knowing what she is talking about yet leaving it ambiguous enough that you can also conclude that Lelouch is dead and the driver is just amused or is some unknown character that C2 knows, yet the audience doesn't. Code Geass is still my favorite anime series with a superb English dub. So, any excuse for more Code Geass is great in my mind.

he won't, the extended PV was leaked our main character won't have Geass. The Geass user it's someone that the main character and his brother is helping and she's named Sakuya Sumeragi. If the last name rings any bells to you that's because that's Kaguya last name Sumeragi. So she might be related to Kaguya. She might also have some connection to Lelouch because the extended PV she says :"That person told me that the power of the King would make me lonely" which is similar to something Lelouch has said in the Resurrection movie

I think that if Lelouch and/or C2 were to make an appearance at some point early in the show it would make sense. The reason I believe this is because of the ending of the movie. Lelouch and C2 were together and Lelouch was talking about Geass and taking it from those who lacked resolve before it cut off. It would make sense to me that we would see them at least once even if it was only in the background or in a memory from the main character at some point in the series.

but Code Geass are about different characters always have been. Code Geass :"Protagonist name" in Anime you have Code Geass : Lelouch which is Lelouch as protagonist, Code Geass :Akito the Exiled which is Akito as protagonist although Lelouch and Suzaku do show up, and now Code Geass :Rozé of the Recapture which is Rozé as protagonist. In the manga you also have Code Geass : Suzaku of the Counterattack is about Suzaku, Code Geass :Nightmare of Nunnally is about Lelouch sister Nunnally, but this examples are related to Lelouch sure but read the next ones Code Geass : Renya of Darkness is about a 17 year old boy called Renya and Code Geass : OZ of the Reflection is about a Knightmare pilot named Oldrin Zevon, as you can see the Manga have different protagonists and so does the anime

If any new series came from code geass it should be a refutation of Lelouch’s ideals. His whole plan was to create world peace through horrendous moral actions. If that wasn’t the result and you have more conflict, any new series about code geass should have protagonists that are morally bound. That’s kinda the problem with code geass, any new material needs conflict, yet it was Lelouch that did away with major conflict at a heavy price. You could do smaller possibly civil conflict rather than entire world wars, but they need a moral narrative that was as interesting and different then what Came before. Honestly I’d rather sunrise just make something new already that’s in the nature of code geass and legends of the galactic heroes rather than more spin offs that try not to be offensive to an existing fan base.

I agree. As much as I would give to relive the first time that I watched Code Geass, I don't think that adding to the series itself will create value for fans or come close to recreating the magic of CG. As you said, the story thrived off of conflict and returning to said conflict, as a successor story in the wake of the finality of R2, only serves to cheapen it. Additionally anything vying too close to the original plot will feel like a hollow cop out. I don't mean to say that the property itself is without intrigue and life, but that perhaps the story as it is is enough. Sunrise itself is an exciting studio and I would love to see a *spiritual* successor if they ever produce one. The themes and character elements that made the story compelling beyond its big actions scenes, and what really gave them bite, are elements that sunrise is entirely capable of recreating in a new world with characters who are ripe for discovery. I love Lelouch and Suzaku and Kallen and CC and everyone else, but when I want to see them again I can just watch the show for the 16th time.

Lelouch could never be a villain, i'd say more of an antogonst. Like if in another show or movie the mc is a patriotic Britannian soldier or general and Lelouch is the antagonist, that sounds pretty dope. Better than, "Oh Lelocuh is a villain now, he's evil." Also when you say that Lelouch's story is done, that I where i'd have to disagree, because as long as peace is broken, he can't really rest. That is the duty he's been cursed with when he decided to shoulder the burdens of the world. So in these movies, it don't think Lelouch will be in the fray immediately. I mean looking at the small drama series they did, there are obviously other geass users that pose a threat to his peace. So I think he and C.C would be somewhere else in the beginning, dealing with other geass users, but when they get word of whatever conflicts are occurring in this, they'll probably drop by in the last movie.

I do like that idea. If Lelouch was the main antagonist, I think the best move would be to have a protagonist like Light Yagami - someone we don't know whether we should be rooting for or not

If this takes place after the re;surection I think we'll definitely see L.L and C.C again, because we get this dialog from Lelouch at the end of the movie after the credits: " Really, by having geass you're able to live and jet the same power that allows you to live in the world of men compels you to obey by a new set of rules, act by a different logic, move to it's rethemes, lead a different life. Be worn, the kings powers may isolate you, geass will be taken from those lacking resolve, for those that do have the resolve..." He's definitely talking to someone here, maybe even the mc themselves. I think that Lelouch and C.C will show up as ether some mystery characters like Caretaker of Spacetime or even C.C herself, or we'll meet them the same way Lelouch was shown in the akito the Exile (being a threat, but never directly targeting the mc, I think it' s a good time to mention I barely remember anything of that movie franchise) . (Sorry for my bad english, I'm just very hiped for the knew series)

One thing for the tactics bit you brought up, we need to "go back" to R1 Knightmares, in that they need to be delicate enough a shoulder mounted missile launcher can take them out, rather than the near invincibility of Gundam Wing Gundams, that opens up tactics and tricks for our protagonists to use that will wow audiences even if our protagonists are people Lelouch would have viewed as a joke in R1 or R2 they would still be able to impress us the viewer with their cleaver use of battlefield tricks and tactics. Like "latrine helmet landmine", you can make a landmine out of a helmt, excrement and a few commonly available chemicals for soldiers The guys known for eating crayons and talking in "rah rahs" know about it, but your average joe likely doesn't, much like how people think Light is some brilliant character when actually his every trick, is commonly known to a 1980s California cop out to stop street gambling.

4:18 i truly think Code Geass is inherently interteined eith Lelouch ( read Zero) , his personal life and emotions and their ups and downs. However, the world is interesting enough to sustain multiple series of ((gundam like)) movies or shows. I just lowkey wish they drop the title?

it's not, Code Geass was made since the beginning to have different protagonists, the manga has different protagonists so does the anime. Code Geass "Protagonist name". Code Geass Lelouch is about Lelouch, Code Geass :Akito is about Akito, Code Geass :Rozé is about Rozé. @@symphonixblades But... The thing is... Code Geass is an original anime, not a manga adaptation. Yes, it is rare, but for once, it is the other way around, so no, I wouldn't say code geass was made since the beginning to have different protagonists, and I do feel code geass is ultimately the story of Zero. That being said, I wouldn't be against a spin off. But like suggested above, I would prefer it, if was named something else. Maybe "Legacy of zero" for exemple. As a cognitive science student, I do believe doing spin offs but not changing the name or at least making is clear that it is a spin off and not a follow up is kind of a marketing treason. You HAVE to know you are trying to attract people that wont like what they'll end up with by bating them with a name that has emotionnal significance for them.

@@shanz7758 Rozé of the Recapture is NOT a spin off tho. It's a sequel to Resurrection years after the events, and when I say years it might be a lot of years since Sakuya Sumeragi didn't exist before. It's also possible that Lelouch gave her the Geass since she does say the same thing Lelouch told someone at the end of Resurrection. That said nothing says that Lelouch won't show up, just that he isn't the main character of Code Geass cuz the franchise as different main protagonists, also cuz he already archived his goals, his story as a protagonist is over basically. Lelouch showed up in a side role in Akito the Exiled, so he might show up in Rozé as well. But like I said before Code Geass :"Name of the protagonist" that's how this franchise usually works. There has been 3 Sumeragi girls so far, Futaba Sumeragi (from Renya of Darkness, this story is years before Lelouch story), Kaguya Sumeragi ( Lelouch timeline) and now Sakuya Sumeragi.

@@symphonixblades Well.... Yeeees and no. It really depends what you would consider a spin off and a sequel. I would say a sequel that has nothing in common with the source material except you have the vague knowledge that both events happen in the same world lean more toward the spin off than the sequel. I'm not exactly saying that Rozé of the recapture is a spin off and not a sequel, but yeah... I do feel a lot of people will be disappointed if the characters from the previous story don't show up one way or another, and I feel like the use of the name "code geass" is justification enough to feel betrayed if that doesn't happen. But we'll see, and in the end, if the story is good, that's what matters. But again, in the eyes of most anime followers of code geass, code geass is about Lelouch/Zero. If you are into fanfictions, on fanfiction.net there are almost 8 thousand code geass stories, and 5.4 of them have Lelouch a one of the four character names that can be used to describe the fiction, so literally 2/3 of the stories fans write about Code Geass have Lelouch as one of their protagonist. If you look at something like Harry Potter, It is 230 thousands out of 800, so 1/4, while the guy actually has his name as the name of the series. So really, I think going to the fanfictions and looking at who are the most cited characters in a story is probably one of the most powerful way to know what people love about some fictionnal series, because you can see what people have liked enough to want to actually move their ass and write about. And I think Lelouch is definitely more of a protagonist to Code Geass than a lot of characters that gave their name to the fiction they appear in often are!

They could do animes that don't even have Knightmares, I would love animes about the divergence points in Code Geass history, like when America lost the Revolutionary war thanks to Ben Franklin defecting (likely under the influence of geass) and Napolean pushing the royal family out of Britain to the colonies, where they conquer both American continents. There's also the divergence point where the Romans failed to conquer England, but that didn't have that much of an effect on history and may not be as interesting.

With the last scene of Ressurrection movie, it'd make no sense for Lelouch not to play an important role. And "not touching his character conclusion" isn't a thing in the movie timeline.

I love that the original code geass has no cgi cince it was made in 2006 , yes the movie does have cgi but I only care about the long awaited resolution , please let this be good I dont whant another akito.

I can ignore new material if it feels like it contradicts the core of R1 and R2 but I'd like to not do that. If they give me the core ideals of whay made code geass great with minimal leaning on existing characters that'd be the best world to be in. Nods to the orinigal series like nunally schneizal and "zero" being important political forces of the new world is the best role they can serve, without stealing the spotlight from the new cast.

I wish, Sunrise had some balls and tried to advance the CG world... A new show 20 or 30 years after R2, when space colonization is really starting to kick off combined with more and more tension on earth because of that. Those new movies are just going to be "1 year later, edgy kids with geass fight each other in some foreign places and at the end the comically evil bad guy dies."

I agree with you on the importance of Politics and Strategy. However, I do not believe the new show will meet the standards of the original Code Geass. I believe this new show will go for mass appeal, and dumb itself down to cater to audiences it never reached before. And I hope, Zero, that you will not applaud the show for dumbing itself down, just to get more views for your channel. I understand being excited for more Code Geass, but if the show is bad, dont betray your core audience by claiming the new show is good. It would be bad enough for Rose to betray fans of Code Geass. Why not make a video on Lost Stories? I for one have been playing it since its english release, and here are my brief thoughts: 1) The retelling of the Code Geass plot with a new Original Character was poorly executed. (Spoilers for early story) The shinjuku incident was the perfect place for a Japanese protagonist to see friends or family killed by the order of Clovis. Even fan favorite Jeremiah slaughtered civilians. You could have him seek revenge against Jeremiah specifically, leading to a confrontation at the Battle of Narita when the oc is a Black Knight. Or if the kids had to die by falling rubble, recall that Zero caused the floor to collapse beneath some Sutherlands in the Battle of Shinjuku. Have the oc successfully keep the kids safe only to have them die from Zero's brilliant strategy unbeknownst to the oc, thus he joins the black knights under the command of the one more directly responsible for the death of those kids. But I digress, there were so many ways to write the OC into the story of Code Geass in a better way. 2) To justify the units of both sides fighting together in gameplay, the oc should have had a geass power allowing them to summon alternate universe versions of the characters from Code Geass that fight for them during the battles of Code Geass. This would justify why Jeremiah can fight Jeremiah, and might give more credence to why canonically you win every battle you fight in. As it would surely cause confusion for the enemy to be fighting themselves. 3) The characters are usually given good abilities that fit them, but sometimes they arent. Pureblood Jeremiah's Loyalty is on full display by him filling a support role and granting more Deployment Points on placement. Thats good. But Bismark not having any ability relating to his Geass Power of Foresight is Abysmal. I have little hope they will do justice for Mao or Rolo in the future. Ill stop there. But I would like to hear you make a video on this topic. If you dont offer any fair criticism towards the game, that will be indicative of your future videos on Rose of the Recapture.

Thanks for commenting! I haven't made a video about Lost Stories just because I don't have much insightful analysis about it to share, positive or negative. I do have some opinions about what's gone well and what hasn't, but it's hard to analyze a character as deeply as I like to when we don't know their full story. But if people were interested in how I would approach the idea of writing an OC into Code Geass, I think it could be cool to make a video about that

I don't think Lelouch should appear at all. Let the series deal with the fallout of the new order Lelouch and Suzaku put in place. I think this should follow a more classic Gundam approach. New characters and a generation rise from the fallout and mistakes of the previous wars. Maybe some cameos, but focus on the new and leave the old guard behind.
