We have almost an identical religious path. I was a seminarian in high school late 70s. Left and barely go to church for more than 40 years. Led a life of sin. Then started going to church so I can take my 70 yr old cousin weekly. Not receiving communion for more than 4 months. Asking anyone where they give communion in the tongue and kneeling. This year 2 weeks before Lent went to communion after 40 yrs. I was more than 45 minutes early for communion and found out that anticipated mass is scheduled before confession. So i waited inside while the anticipated was ongoing. I was shocked to find out that that particular church 2 miles from my house, that I found online gives communion in the tongue kneeling on their kneelers in front of the altar. The Holy Spirit led me there! I went to confession that night and came back the following morning to receive my first communion after 40 years. Been doing this weekly and started praying the rosary every night after that. God is Love and He's been with me all this time. Never abandoned me after all this time. My love for Him is greater now. What I did not do and my understanding of my faults in the seminary is finally realized. I feel the Holy Spirit gave me this knowledge. Hallelujah!

If a priest denies you the Eucharist because you’re kneeling and want to receive on the tongue, what a blessing from our Lord! It certainly is a form of martyrdom. Being an example to that priest and others. Offer it up and go back and pray.

Thanks to you Robert, a couple of years ago I began receiving Holy Communion kneeling on the tongue and was the first to do so in my small parish here in West Cork. Now there are many of us! I was taught in the mid 1970s to receive standing on the hand. I always received this way. When I met someone who kneeled and received on her tongue she tried to convince me. I was stubborn. But interestingly when I was on mission trips in Mexico I would receive on the tongue, albeit standing. It began to change something in me. I began to receive on the tongue back at home. I often switched back and forth, hand then tongue. When I switched to an FSSP parish several years ago and began receiving kneeling everything clicked!! I simply cannot see myself going back. People resist this for many personal reasons. I get it. I was once there stubbornly saying “the church allows me to stand and receive on the hand. So there!” But honestly I wish everyone would experience what I did. If you are stubborn like I was. Ask yourself why? And why not just try receiving on your knees if possible and even if standing, receiving on your tongue. Just open your heart and say “Jesus help me see if this is what would please you, and not me.”

I started receiving kneeling (and since earlier on the tongue) about 4-5 years ago. I was looking for way to help myself direct my heart towards Christ, and I imagined, if Christ was standing before me in his glorified body, would I stand? Honestly, I would probably fall to the ground, but kneeling helps me remember that I am before my King. And I am but a helpless servant who isn’t worthy.

Well stated and is powerful in that our Lord is truly right in front of us, body and blood, not spiritually, physically peresent, and it is only deserving that my sinful self should kneel in His presence, great comment. I usually say to myself that Jesus Christ is present with us AS the Body of Christ, transubstantiated from bread. He is not present in the Eucharist, He IS the Eucharist.

Back in the 70s I was a young nominal Catholic. I always attended Mass on Sundays. My mom and I had both quit covering our heads after Vatican II. I occasionally wore jeans to Mass. One day my brother handed me a newsletter he had found in a phone booth from an apparition site in the US. He said, "for some reason I thought you might like to see this." (I won't mention where it was from, as the apparitions were not and are not approved). However, the first line of the first message on the front page of the flyer said, (alleged quote from Our Lady) "CAN YOU NOT KNEEL TO RECEIVE YOUR GOD!" When I saw those words, it profoundly changed my life forever. Those words hit me like a ton of bricks. My whole being said "YES". This made sense to me! Why could I not see that before? From that day forward to now I kneel to receive our Lord. Not because I feel "holier than others", but rather the opposite. I profoundly realized my unworthiness. I am God's creature. He is my God. I just could no longer stand to recieve my God. I began covering my head again, "because of the angels." Our angels (who always see the Face of their God.).. understand the proper deportment we should have at Mass. Through the years since that first time kneeling, I have on occasion been quietly berated, shouted at by priests.. denied Communion,.. ignored as if I was not there. But always from that first day, I have felt a calm assurance that this was right for me. This was what My Lord wanted from me and I never looked back. If I was refused Communion I simply made a quiet Spiritual Communion. No problem. Went about my way. These days my husband and I (after 50 years of marriage) are blessed to be able to attend the TLM on Sundays so kneeling and receiving Our Lord on the tongue is the norm as it was for all Catholics before Vatican II.

My story is almost exactly the same as yours. I was away for so long. When I was called back, it wasn’t even a question anymore. Kneeling and on the tongue from the priest is the only way I receive now. It felt awkward at first, but I didn’t care. I see more and more doing it now which warms my heart.

I do and always have recieved on the tongue kneeling from a Priest only, I am 1 of about 6 in our chapel all the others recieve standing and on the hand, I believe if we keep doing communion kneeling and on the tongue more and more people will begin to change to that modus, it starts with ourselves and will spread out into the other commuicants by osmosis, well said Robert, keep her lit as we say, oh and 1 more thing, bring back kneelers or altar rails asap.

A Priest left me kneeling one time totally ignoring me and i have prayed for that priest.

I am from Slovakia and in 2006 when I was leaving my country, we had communion on the tongue in our churches. Now after COVID not so anymore. And although I was terrible Catholic when I came living sinful life I find it was wrong to receive on hand( I was going to sun mass but not receiving because I knew I was in mortal sin, that was another thing I noticed that everyone went for communion and no line for confession) then I cried to God in desperation when I couldn't do it any longer ( sin is destroying everything and changing your character for worse) God helped me . ❤ And then I got to the video of fr Chad Ripperger about worthy reception of holy communion and I knew deeply in my heart that kneeling is the best way and on the tongue. It is of course only an outward sign of devotion but at least I was able to do it . Considering we receive God almighty..how humble we are to be. The pain is when inward disposition is not as it should be to ( completely pure as only Holy Mary was ready) that always stay as a painful reality with me. But not to kneel for me could destroy my reverence and damage my faith. I am holding on to Christ who saved me. As sinful as I acknowledged myself to be , I said to myself that is the minimum I can do to show my love for Christ redemptive suffering, to kneel in front of Him present in Holy Eucharist

St john walked with Jesus, but when he saw Him transfigured...glorified on the mount with James and Peter, he fell prostrate with his face to the ground. Also, as he stated in the book of Revelation in chapter 1, when he saw the one like the Son of man, he fell at his feet as though dead. If I truly, really believe that God is present in the Holy Eucharist, then who am I but a mere speck in this universe to think myself worthy to stand in His presence. I am not greater or more faithful than St. John. No, I will kneel in His presence, for every breath I take is dependent on His mercy. I will kneel before my God, my King, my Savior, my Redeemer.

I came back to the faith last year December 🙏🏾✝️ after being lost for many years and I felt severe conviction about continuing to receive communion in my hand but was also worried I would come off ‘Holy than though’ especially as I was at that point (Still do) veil and wear skirts only to church. I wrestled with like no man’s business and the devil sure tormented me with the thought of Jesus through the Eucharist falling to the ground due to my unworthiness but guess what! Jesus helped me through it and I don’t think I could ever turn back ❤

The Blessed Virgin asks us to receive Holy Communion on the tongue and in the humble position of on the knees showing reverence to the Sacred Heart of Jesus which is what we are receiving...many sins are committed with the hands and many people are insufficiently prepared via confession to receive the eucharist therefore bringing condemnation to themselves...also many sacrilegious things are done with the body of Christ when given in the hand...dropped on the floor..left on pews..shoved up sleeves..saw one lady put the eucharist in her pant back pocket..I think I will listen to the Blessed Virgin Mary who knows better..Blessings to all!

I began receiving Holy Communion kneeling and on the to tongue some 10 years ago. A result of a very strong compulsion having seen a young Polish family do the same when visiting our Parish in Middlesbrough. The circumstance reminded me of a dream I had as a young alter boy some 54 years ago which I shared at that time with the then Priest. I think the influence of anti-Church will fall away when the Ark of The Church is re-anchored to the two pillars, devotion of the Immaculate Heart and devotion to the Holy Eucharist

there are many novus ordo churches in my area with kneelers and even some with altar rails! In every parish, many people young and old received kneeling, and even more on the tongue standing. It is beautiful to see. Many youth groups in my area promote this, and even some church camps do ad orientem worship.

Just as a baby cannot feed himself or herself but must be fed by the mother, so we are spiritual babies who cannot feed themselves but must be fed by Jesus. Kneeling and receiving the Lord on our tongue is a humble recognition that only Jesus can feed us with Himself which he does through the priest who is conformed to Him and acts in His Holy Name.

You say, “The Council Fathers never asked for a change in how we receive the Eucharist.” I agree. However, I want to share a short story and then circle back to this point. There is a church about 20 minutes from the parish where I grew up. I prefer attending this church because it is much more reverent. Additionally, the church has preserved all its pre-Vatican II architecture, including altar rails. One day, I reached out to the parish priest and asked if there was any way for us laity to use the altar rails during the sacrament of Communion. His response was: “Thank you for your email. It’s a good question, since we do have the historic altar rail. However, the use of the rail is governed by diocesan policy (not at the pastor’s discretion). While people may kneel for Communion, only the FSSP communities are permitted to use altar rails.” Based on this response, I assume that our bishop only allows the use of altar rails at the two FSSP parishes in the diocese.

Robert, receiving Communion on the tongue or in the hand - both are pleasing to God. Both are an act of love. God is Love and anyone who is in love with God will be inspired to find their ways to showing him their acts of love. We really have to focus on the Blessed Sacrament at that sacred moment - we shouldn't be harbouring deep within us murmurings that some people are being disrespectful - How do we know? Only God knows what is in a person's heart. We might be better off asking ourselves if our own families ever spend time together praying at home - this is important as it leads on to other good practices. We should be encouraging other - not looking at differences and drawing our own small-minded conclusions

My husband and I kneel to receive and have done so for quite awhile. We have been told to get up from kneeling and go to end of line from grumbling priest. We also only receive from a priest/deacon. We go to many different catholic churches in our area, and almost all are the same. I used to cross from one side to the other side just to not be in a eucharistic minister line. Many years ago I was a eucharistic minister, but now know the truth so I can't understand why a woman would even accept the eucharist as a minister. Fine if you want to administer the blood. That heretic cardinal should not be obeyed. Our reverence is due to Our Lord before all else. A number of parishes in my vicinity now offer kneelers for those who wish to receive most reverently but the choice is there. My home parish has Ad Orientem Masses and we use the first pew to kneel for Holy Communion during the week.

How many times in the Bible does it say that when someone sees an angel, sees God or encounters Jesus they fell on their face as though dead! Why would it ever be wrong for us to take a similar approach? Especially if you read Revelation at consider when St John, the beloved disciple, a close friend of Jesus on earth even still recognizes Him as God in his reaction to him, falling down as though dead.

I deeply love the Lord in the Holy Eucharist, and my reverence for Him comes from the heart. I understand the importance of communal worship and shared expressions of reverence, but I also believe that our faith is personal and that God sees the sincerity of each soul. It can feel discouraging when others impose their specific version of reverence on me, as if there’s only one 'right' way to worship. True reverence comes from love and humility, not from conforming to someone else’s preferences. I hope we can remember that God’s focus is on the heart, and we should support each other in deepening our faith rather than judging or controlling one another. Let’s encourage one another to love God with sincerity and freedom, as that’s what matters most to Him. God bless you!

It's hard to talk about lay ministers of the Eucharist. They are very dedicated but they held on to the masks as long as possible and still are hand sanitizing, in my parish anyway.

If there is a policy in your diocese against the use of altar rails, perhaps the priest would provide a separate kneeler. I have seen a priest do this because of one person asking and it changed the whole parish eventually. That priest told us that when the people of God ask for something he is then allowed to respond. Also you could pray and write to your bishop. Shouldn't those voices that want more reverence be listened to also, as the synoydal way goes?

Receiving the Eucharist in the hand was started in the 1970’s in The Usa. It wasn’t part of Vatican Two. It is sacrilegious to receive the Eucharist in the hand.

I actually did go to a church once in Newark, I did it for a laugh but nobody else was laughing. The Pastor acted as if he was afraid of me after I introduced myself to him, he kept staring into my eyes, his voice was trembling and he kept backing away from me, I could feel fear in his eyes, the other people in the congregation kept as far away from me as possible, nobody spoke to me and nobody came close, one small girl was pointing at me and crying. Over all it was a good morning and I am sure I left an indelible aura in that small building. This is something I intend to repeat and I will be asking Lord Ahriman to manifest himself in my being as he did on that Sunday, Please accept blessings from Lord Ahriman. Blessed be.

We show outward signs for many things, we dress for weddings, but on a suit for an interview. Clean the house for visitors. Why not show outward signs of reverence for Our Lord? “Every knee shall bend”…. Read the Gospels

I get it… he’s saying that he knows the bishop would want him to be more humble and obedient to the request to not kneel. But what is the source of that request? The simple desire to flex one’s authoritative muscle? The purpose of the request to not kneel does not seem to have anything to do with fostering a greater reverence for Christ. It strikes me as nothing more than the clerical authoritativeness these same clergy members criticize in other contexts.

At the Garabandal, Spain apparition when Saint-Michael administered the miraculous communion to Conchita that was caught on film, she knelt and received it on the tongue. She stuck out her tongue and that’s where it materialized. That’s how we are supposed to receive and that was not an arbitrary message from heaven. It was instructional and intentional and right at the time of V2.

Of course y’all think its pointless but there you go - for all its wokeness even Anglicans kneel and have never stopped kneeling for this ……. even though their pews are rarely designed for kneeling…weirdly

Curious Robert, what makes you think that God is speaking to you when others are convinced otherwise to your position, namely the majority of the clergy, including the recent Popes? Your crusade might not be heaven sent. My own opinion is that the people are not literal sheep. If people want to kneel down, and receive on the tongue, that's fine and good, but receiving in the hand is fine too. A bow would be good too, but we can't say that most attendees don't appreciate what is going on just because they don't prostrate and demonstrate piety.

All the Popes up to the present Pope recommended Communion on the tongue. I served mass to Pope John Paul II and when people went to communion from him, they had to kneel and only receive on the Tongue in the Vatican.
