Three Cheers is my favorite of their discography. The just aggression that Frank brought to the music is just so fucking good. While bullets is desperate, the anger is just beautiful.

It's crazy that you think that Frank brought the aggression/anger. wtf i hate this fanbase
@zora45278 ай бұрын
@@Zimx02 You’re misinterpreting what I’m saying. Frank added a lot to three cheers with his noisier more punk style approach that wasn’t as present on Bullets. Not to mention the energy he brought live. Definitely a lot of the anger does come from Gerard and his vocals, but I’m just saying that without the additions Frank brought the record wouldn’t be what it is. Idk why you’re getting mad about this bro.
@ShugylaAdilbek27 күн бұрын
Lmao 90% of the aggression comes from Gerard. And Bullets was even more aggressive than revenge.

Though the concept album aspect of the album is interesting, the ironic 'being tasked with killing a thousand evil men, only to end up being the last man' and 'lovers separated by death, promised to be revived by the devil only to meet in hell' I think far too many people skip over the album's overarching messaging and song-to-song themes trying to make pieces fit into a story that wasn't meant to be clear-cut. You really have to read into the songs themselves and look at the context of the album's production to understand what they were going for (Though what they were really going for was just Bullets but more accessible). I think this video far and away from other analysis videos does that justice. You hardly hear about much of Revenge's production in online circles beyond the surface-level points of Life on the Murder Scene or soying out about the aesthetics and nostalgia.

It’s interesting that you mention the post-hardcore scene because in modern times, this album and MCR as a whole are looked as a pop punk band but I don’t think a lot of people realize that bands like MCR, FOB, and Paramore were often mistaken as post-hardcore bands and also did a lot tour with others bands that sounded more in line with From First To Last and The Used. But anyway, great video. Also it’s cool that the band are still close friends with The Used and Thursday to this day.

I did not discover MCR when they started. I was like 7 when this album got out. I discovered in my teen years at 14, when someone i followed posted a link to "the ghost of you" song and video. I was fascinated with everything, and i started looking into more of them and their music. I became a huge MCR fan and was devastated when they broke up just some months after i could discover them back in 2013. This has a very special place in my heart ❤

you didn't mention it but your tone towards "saving kids" in the first video did a full 180 in this video. you seem to have more of a respect for their open talks on depression now. Am I correct to assume that your research into this album changed your opinion and strengthened your respect? My own personal Anecdotal evidence is that as a depressed teen my chemical romance back then their open and candor discussions of feeling depressed gave me the strength to continue. I know in your last video you got a lot of push back from people telling you similar, and the tone seems more measured. would you say you regret calling them grifters previously?

I'm a fan of MCR since their debut album and never was I an emo. I wasn't part of this movement at all, and truth be said I found emo kids pretty much ridiculous. I loved and still love MCR, but not other bands branding in the emo like Panic at the Disco, Paramore, Fall Out Boys or Mindless Self Indulgence at all. Nor did I like Punk rock bands such as Blink 182, Sum 41 or Avril Lavigne. I was pretty closed minded and leaning much more on the pop rock ( Muse, Placebo, Radiohead but hated and still do Coldplay and U2) or industrial rock ( Rammstein, Skinny Puppy, Frontline Assembly) at that time. But I have to admit that I'm glad that MCR have reunited since 2019. I love The Foundation of decay to madness because it reminds those bands and those music that I used to listen when I was a teenager and a young adult.

My Chemical Romance: Three Cheers for Sweet Revenge was the soundtrack to my early 20's. It's my favorite of all the "emo" bands that came out in the early to mid 00's. Even though these guys aren't emo. When I think emo I think Death Cab for Cutie or Dash Board Confessional. MCR has always been what I call new punk other new punk bands would be The Used or Fall Out Boy. New punk is like punk that appeals to a mainstream audience but not like pop punk. I was living in Bullhead City, AZ at the time and the local rock station was from Vegas, and they were playing "I'm Not Okay (I Promise)" and "Helena" in heavy rotation. I fell in love with this band and immediately went out and bought the CD. Shortly after buying it I went on spring break to visit my family in Panama City. For 4 and a half days straight on a bus I jammed out to this album. I couldn't get enough. Then a week or so later I did the same on the way back. Now I had other CDs to listen to but all I wanted to listen to was this MCR album. It wasn't to long after going back to AZ that I decided to move back to be with my family in PCB. Though on the return trip I did listen to other albums from different bands, but I did listen to Three Cheers for Sweet Revenge a few times on that final return trip. So this album means a lot to me because it was what I was listening to during a big event in my life.
