Should there be pause at the bottom of the serve backdrop, or is it a looping continuous motion? Also would you be looking to hit the ball towards the top of the racket for more leverage on the serve?

Hi. Great questions. Many players pause on the backdrop, but it's really personal style. Kyrgios and Rodick had no pause, but pretty good services😉 hitting high on the racket works for a flat service. Simply more leverage. For slice or topspin, better to hit the sweet spot. I normally use inhale for 1, hold for 2 and exhale for 3 instead on my groundstrokes.
