The Richest People in the World: Data from 1984 to 2025

Data Is Beautiful

In this video I explore the timeline of the world's richest individuals from 1984 to 2025, focusing on total net worth. The analysis covers personal wealth, stakes in private companies, stock market investments, real estate, and other financial assets, all calculated in US dollars without adjusting for inflation.
The list is global and specifically excludes members of royal families. This time, I refined the approach by conducting a meta-analysis of various financial sources, including Forbes, Bloomberg, the Hurun Global Rich List, and Euromoney, as well as niche outlets like Institutional Investor and Fortune's archives. The goal was to create a comprehensive and balanced perspective by pulling insights from diverse data points.
Your feedback is always welcome. Got topic suggestions?

I want to explain the logic behind the flags, logos, and faces in this chart. For the most part, I used the most recognizable brand associated with each person's assets. If there wasn't a notable brand, I used the flag of their country. In some cases, you'll see faces - there's no specific logic there, just a personal choice. That's all. Enjoy the video!

Actually yeah there has, late 1800s to early 1900s when steel and railroad tycoons had massive amounts of wealth. Luckily in 1890 they passed a law to keep individuals from monopolizing any single industry. By the sinking of the titanic most of the super wealthy individuals were slowly bleeding money and by the great depression some of them lost it all.
@HaydenFPlaysVODS
@HaydenFPlaysVODS 11 күн бұрын
Actually you idiot it’s because wealth is being constantly made. This isn’t monopoly where there is a set amount of money. That’s the fixed pie fallacy. The top ten percent have been getting richer but so have the bottom 90% slower but they start out with less. And the middle class is shrinking because the upper class is growing.

@@bane3991 that is the most ridiculous thing I have ever heard. Where am I supposed to grow my own food in my 300 ft2 apartment with no space for even a bed and no backyard? And where and importantly when am I supposed to learn farming when I work 60 hours a week? And with what money do I get the supplies to do so? Easily learn farming my ass. And I guess by that logic I’m supposed to knit and sew my own clothing as well and figure out how to produce my own shampoo and conditioner and soap and toothpaste and get out some wood and carve my own toothbrush and quit my job that requires a computer until I learn how to create my own computer. “Easily”. People like you are just as much of the problem as billionaires like Jeff Bezos by turning and blaming the innocent average working poor person doing their best in this fucked up world rather than the real culprit, the system at fault for all of this.

He effectively spent his entire fortune on philanthropy, making sure to have only a modest sum left before he died aged 92 in 2023. He rented his apartment, did not own a house or a car, and wore a $10 Casio watch. And in stark contrast to someone I could mention, none of the 1,000 buildings on 5 continents that his charity built bears his name.

God I wish it were that simple. The truth is that the system is set up so that if they ever did that, they’d just get replaced by the next greedy person. There’s no way to make money helping people in our current system. Gotta just take take take and repurpose what you take to where you want it. Not saying I have any answers, I just became disillusioned and don’t think these people could help even if they wanted to. Which I doubt they do.
