The two kid characters are not related or even kids really, they're replications of the mc's, but they're treated like siblings and are practically dating. I fully believe the reason that they cut Jessica out of Rick and Morty is because a particular writer with some unresolved family issues was getting triggered by seeing Morty fawn over a red-head who was not Summer lmao

Remember this is from Morty's perspective. Rick was never in the hole so everything we saw is merely a figment of Morty's imagination based on limited information. Morty never met Diane nor did he ever see Rick interact with Diane so everything we saw was simply what Morty's subconscious believes/hopes Rick and Diane would be like but it also shows that even without that information Morty is also subconsciously afraid of a day where Rick gets Diane back because he believes Rick won't need him anymore..

​@@supersizesenpai To be fair, it's entirely possible that when Morty injected himself with Rick's scanned brain data to see his "crybaby backstory" he got a lot more information than we did. It's not really clear if Morty saw only what we saw, if he saw all of Rick's life, or something in between. What he saw could have just been condensed for the audience's sake -- Morty seemed pretty dazed when he woke up and it was a scan of Rick's _entire_ brain.

Normally their poorer episodes are still good compared to another series (but there's fluidity comparing it to itself) but the numericons episode was just a big clunker for me They didn't actually make any jokes if their goal was to poke fun at the cliches of movies like that Like I think they tried to do what they did with the heist episode but it wasn't really clear if that's what was happening, so it looked like they were taking themselves seriously while churning out hollywood recycled crud.

Before season 7 there were only ~2 episodes I would really consider bad, but there were just so many episodes this last season that I didn't really like watching tbh. Numbericon is definitely bottom 2 of all time (my least favourite is the Turkey president one)

That wasnt my take it showed that deep down morty was willing to face his greatest fears but rick is not. morty is the one who is brave while rick for all his bravado is a coward. But where as before rick would never be able to admit that now because of the work he is putting in on himself he knows that morty is a better person then he is. He is starting to accept who he is and the work he needs to do and that he is not ready to face something like that; Yet.

This season 7 finale is probably one of my favourite episodes. Even if it wasn't real and part of Morty's inner fear, I truly feel sorry for Rick, and I really liked seeing him and Diane have some last moments together to allow us to understand what their relationship was like. BTW I think the new voice actor for Morty really killed it with that scream of fear at the end

That last episode could really work as the overall ending of the series, if they don't make an 8th season I won't even be upset. Is also very cute how it is implied that Rick carries a spare picture of Morty in his wallet all the time, and that he feels proud of him and so he put his picture on the wall so everyone can know of Morty's achievement.
